Naming the aggregate device without the name of the controller! 🤯 I've been trying to get Aggregate devices to work with Rekordbox for a while now, and I ran into the exact problem you showed, without the ability to assign individual output channels to external sound cards. Never thought that the actual name of the device would be the root of the problem. Thanks PYJ!
Also, you can use Audio MIDI Setup to give names to individual input and output channels just to keep track of which channel belongs to which device. e.g. Instead of your Mac's built-in output being "Output 1" and "Output 2", you could name them "Mac Headphone L" and "Mac Headphone R", just by clicking the unnamed boxes in Audio MIDI Setup. Makes troubleshooting a little easier.
Great idea. Curently using the DDJ200 alongside with the Reloop Mixtour. With either Rekordbox (needs to midi map the mixtour) or Djay (works out of the box)
Today (two years later?? LOL) I connected my DDJ-200 to my 2013 MacBook running Rekordbox, and connected my Mackie ProFX10 v3. I couldn't get it to work until I realized the "USB 3-4" button (on Channel 9/10) wasn't pressed to "ON"! Ha! Now it works great! But I do need to figure out how to control headphone volume now, as it it greyed our on the Mac with this aggregate device. But VERY cool that this tip is still helping broke-ass DJ wannabe's like me two years later. THANK YOU Pri yon Joni!! I now have cueing on one of the cheapest (but formidable) controllers! This is so much fun!
I use Djay Pro from windows store, and use a USB soundcard for master out and internal soundcard for cueing. All built into the Djay Pro software.
In windows, ASIO4ALL will allow multiple audio interfaces to be used at the same time. Since Rekordbox supports ASIO drivers, I was able to configure my M-AUDIO interface as the main output and my laptop's onboard sound (realtek) as the headphone output. Works great. If you have worked with any kind of audio production in windows, ASIO drivers are usually used for lower latency. Most audio interfaces will have their own ASIO drivers, but you can also use ASIO4ALL which will allow you to use multiple audio interfaces but still show up as 1 device in rekordbox.
So you connect the headphones to the laptop or the interface?
Also do u open and use ASIO4ALL through rekordbox?

As always you always find a way to defy the "out of the box" mentality by having the knowledge to utilize available technology. I love it!!. Now here's my query, is there a way to download a virtual machine for PC to duplicate this setup capability because I never use Mac??? Love you videos, your attitude & approach to technology in our field. My back round is I come from a long line of musicians, but I gave up my instrument 40 yrs ago & replaced my thirst for music with djing (also my idea of djing is two sources of music with a mixer & headphone capabilities lol) so unlike other djs with my tenior i never hate on technology that allows me to better my base idea of djing. Like Dj Jazzy Jeff stated " people have no idea what your using just produce good music for the crowd & stop complaining"!!!!

You know the American Audio VMS2 can do the same thing your doing. If your good with just using Virtual DJ. But it makes me wonder if with your Mac you can trick it to run Serato????

Plug your turntables into each input switch to phono. You may need a DVS license. Go to Rekordbox.com for more info.

Please make a video of all the controllers from lowest price to highest price that supports 2 external turntables or cdj. That would be very helpful. Because sometimes someplace we don't want to take turntables or cdj. It's so heavy and trouble.
How about connecting an Audio Interface like the Audient ID14 to a powered usb hub connected to the laptop and setting the interface as the main audio output then connect the ddj200 to the same powered hub will this work?
From my experienced, devices like the DDJ-200 are better to be direct connected. The reason is because there seems to be inconsistency with powered USB hubs. Including the ones with ports with higher amps. You could try it tho. The whole idea here is to experiment.
I hear the ddj Sb3 can be use with recordbox perfectly, so can the sb3 pair with those turntable without ddj200???
The DDJ-SB3 currently does not work natively with Rekordbox DJ. Only the DDJ-SB2.
Can we do this with Mac and SB3 for Serato? I heard that is not easy you said. Meaning it's possible anyway?
It is not possible. The reason is because unlike Rekordbox and other DJ software, Serato does not allow you to reallocate the audio to a different soundcard. This is a somewhat unique characteristic of Serato DJ that goes back to Scratch Live.
With that said, it is however possible to connect CDJs instead via HID mode along with the SB3. Here is the video on how to do it.

1. No; the SL1 will not work.

So why are you doing that, are you using Recordbox and Traktor?.

I was told that’s the ddj 1000 internal sound card was horrible & that it’s best to have a external external interface for turntables. Do you know or have any ideas on this being accurate?
Citizens Gate the DDJ-1000 has a really great output quality from it’s soundcard. The line level inputs are very good as well.
But what is often raised as an issue are the phono preamps not sounding accurate for vinyl playback. In their design, they are optimized for DVS use, therefore the actually sound quality of the preamps wouldn’t matter when using timecode records to control. However, they’re not highly favored for playing actual vinyl.
Essentially, the DDJ-1000 will sound great so long as you your audio is coming from the computer or line level devices.
This might be possible with any serato dj controller once phase dj becomes an official accessory in the next update.
DJ EL-G that is correct. HID mode will allow you to do this. That’s why it’s possible already to do this with CDJs.
What program could we use for windows users? Also kudos on figuring a way to do DVS with it.

Can you use serato software as well or does it just work with record box?
e102 77 Serato doesn’t allow you to reassign the soundcard. It might even be the case it’s the only DJ software that doesn’t allow you to do that.

You can’t. The reason is because Serato doesn’t allow you to reroute the audio.
I got a question for you I plan on buying a set of turntables to connect to the ddj800 using that as a mixer I noticed in your settings you have an option for Dvs I don't have that option on mine can you explain how do I go about connecting my set of turntables to my ddj800 and using it as a mixer on the software
To use DVS with the DDJ-800, your rekordbox requires a subscription to the Core Plan or higher.

The question is, is it even possible for the mixer to work with a mobile device? It's unlikely, but worth exploring.
There are a few IOS compatible audio interfaces out there. You will probably need a usb hub with power to run both the audio interface and the ddj 200. Now the real question is if the app you are using will support it....

I'm wondering how do I do this with an Ipad while using WeDJ, should I get a DA converter to connect to the venue's speakers ?

You can’t do this with an iPad. This was only possible with macOS bc of the audio utilities that comes with Mac.

@@gamefoo nah, he never answered back.. I got my ddj 400 and it didn't even work out of the box I sent it back, super disappointed with it.. Went Numark mixtrack platinum, worked out the box.

In all other DJ software, you can change the sound card. But not in Serato.
The only reason I can do all this with the DDJ-200 in Rekordbox is because Rekordbox allows you to change the output to a different soundcard/interface.

Yes. The SB2 is compatible with rekordbox so this is possible.

algoriddim djay Pro AI does not have DVS capability. It strictly works with controllers and DJ mixers.

Neo Morpheus yes, this is possible. But it will still require an additional interface to hook up the turntables, like the SL3 I used in the video.

There is no reliable way in Windows to both aggregate and keep each input synced simultaneously. There are tools available, but I haven’t seen works wellz
