Here's the trick to getting immersive gameplay in Breakpoint that is second to none. Turn off all HUD, icons, everything, put on a pair of headphones and sneak around any base or facility AT NIGHT. The ambient soundtrack that plays at night is amazing. It's the first game I've ever played where I felt like I was living in a simulation, and no I wasn't high LOL.

Im a disabled U.S.Army Infantry veteran and I have been playing games for about 37 years, and for me I agree with you completely. As far as detail and gameplay if you want a more tactical game, just crank up the "ghost" experience they provide now with no hud and put the AI on extreme. Not absolutely realistic mind you but still a crap ton better than most games out there. As for the game itself, forget all the bullcrap that was said and stop trying to pick apart every detail and I promise you will just have FUN with the game and thats what its about, right! Some of my old buds will get in here and run it like we did in real life, and other times we go in John Rambo style and just shoot stuff for the giggles. If you are a tactical shooter fan of any type this games is well worth it. And you sir make a damn good video. +1 sub.

If you ever do want to scratch that "realism" itch, I suggest giving Arma 3 or Ground Branch a shot if you haven't already. Their realism when it comes to large scale military engagements (Arma 3) or smaller scale tactical engagements (GB) is unparalleled.

Its cool that Breakpoint is getting this second wind that few games ever get. The more it gets brought up the more people will discover this amazing game. As it continues to sell, the chances of Ubisoft killing the servers for this game gets slimmer. It's up to the players now to keep the game alive. Thanks for contributing!

Some of my greatest memories in gaming are the countless hours me and my friends spent in Wildlands. It’s easily one of my favorite games because of it, so naturally me and my closest friend were extremely excited for Breakpoint. Sadly I missed it’s closed beta due to a leadership school I went to over the summer but what I heard had worried me. The game launched and me and my friend played it, but didn’t recommend it to the rest of our group. Though we stuck by the game waiting for every update and putting hours in, once we saw things turning around we started recommending it and were absolutely excited for Operation: Motherland. Due to that game mode we spent more countless hours having a blast and creating more memories. I still prefer Wildlands though I will admit a prefer the movement and gameplay of Breakpoint more.

I've been playing Breakpoint regularly for years now, it's one of my favourite games, and you've nailed many of the reasons why. This is definitely an underrated hidden gem. Try it again with all hud removed and on extreme/elite difficulty and it almost becomes another game. Factor in the Spartan mod on PC and it's a fresh experience again.

Regarding the Wolves as enemies (and especially the drones) they become super deadly and difficult if you go immersive mode (no gear level and realistic settings). Even a squad of 3 will kick your ass if you're not careful, and the fact that they spot you quicker (made even almost instant by the settings) paired with 2-3 hits to be downed and almost instant injury when getting shot (plus minimal hud so you don't see where you're shot from), makes them lethal. In fact the game totally changes making co-op even more fun and challenging.

I’m an old school ghost recon fan and I actually like advanced warfighter and awf2 for their “over the top” tactical aspects. It took me a while to warm up to wildlands, and breakpoint. The one gripe I really have with breakpoint is needing to tote heavy machine guns or rocket launchers to take out bots. Just a pet peeve personally otherwise love both games!

the thing is, drones arent even sci fi anymore

    • @hatoftricks7132
      @hatoftricks7132 7 дней назад

That's true but they don't feel realistic, Arma 3 has similar drones like UGV Stomper. It feels epic to work with a team of guys to take it down. In Breakpoint its just shooting and no real thought goes into it. Woudn't mind if they had drones similar to the futuristic Gecko walkers as long as it feels real and challenging. The issue with Breakpoint is you got the hardcore tactical fans and the goofy shooters.
I remember back on the PS3 playing with 16 player co-op, 4 teams with 4 people coordinating using grid map referneces, not shooting everything you see and stealthily moving around on GRAW2. With 75 bot's pre rendered on to the map. Which allowed you to disabled drones, weapons, camo, etc. Even disabling the UI would cause a funny rookie moment when newcomers would have to PID their target and not shoot team mates. Sadly it has devolved to this 4 player super soldier game.
Personally Ubisoft just need to rename this series Breakpoint and stop using the Ghost Recon name. For those tactical bro's, just get on Reforger, Ready or Not, etc. There's plenty of options now.

Considering Breakpoint is regularly on 80% sale on steam its a great value when its on sale. The possibility that Ubisoft will just yank the servers at some random point means that I would never consider getting this at full price despite the work to make it good.
I have been playing it recently and I agree that removing the gear level's fixes the vast majority of issues with the game. One sticking point I do have is that the bigger drones like the behemoth are bullet and rocket sponges above and beyond what should be... I don't care what the thing is made of nothing should be able to move after having 10-20 RPG's shot into its open and exposed gearbox.

How can you say that with such a horrible AI team mates? Breakpoint feels empty, and the map is utterly boring, and it doesn't even feel like a real world, but more like a military playground. Also the buildings are... again... boring, lack any character.

    • @alannnXavier
      @alannnXavier 7 месяцев назад +1

@@MichaelDomer Ai teammates are good, they just don't have personality like Wildlands. Breakpoint doesn't feel empty, you have ton of things to do, everywhere every time. The world feels like a real world when you are in the woods or in the mountains, in the coldwar bases. Wildlands has a parody of Bolivia, it doesn't feel real at all. It's great though. And it is like a military playground indeed, because that is what it is supposed to be. I didn't like the buildings, neither in Wildlands. Ubisoft could do better. We just enjoy different things mate, anyways Wildlands it's great

Nah man, spot on with this! Honestly, we're huge stealth gaming fans over here, and Breakpoint offers a decent solution for people who are missing SC, or just need something else to play besides MGSV. What's great about this game are the accessibility and gameplay options. You can pretty much play it how you want. Again, since we do stealth, MGS the Phantom Pain was our jam, until we just kinda got a bit tired of it. Breakpoint offers a similar (larger even) option with the open world dotted with tons of enemy strong holds you can attack. If you want solo, just turn off the AI teammates, up the stealth unlocks and player stats, and away you go. And it feels pretty damn good too. Granted, it's a bit more on the generic side, but we've played WAAYYYY worse. We didn't get it until maybe a year after launch, so we missed the botched release. But that said, we've enjoyed this game quite a bit.

What bothers me the most about breakpoint is the 500 M sniping distance anything past that doesn't load unless you're modding on PC because of this wildlands will always be better even at 30 FPS. And as the years go on I have noticed a lot of games getting shut down that are online only and I absolutely hate games that Force online. All that means is there an expiration date because these companies are too greedy to support their games for as long as the community will want to play them. I mean I haven't even added 60fps support for wildlands you know for a fact it's not hard to change it.

He shows up like twice until the end and everything in between is flashback cutscenes. While some of them are pretty well made Cole isn't really the main villain it's trey stone with his sentinel and every episode is trying to salvage the resources and tech of Auroa to threaten the world.

This is one of the best comeback in games industry, really great tactical shooting gameplay. New conquest mode is some substitute of good campaign instead of future dumbness of Skell and Walker story. Too bad that Ubisoft wont set this game in, for example Iraq or Afghanistan, or in some country in Western Europe, with some "down to earth" conflict without drones and family content with bad written characters.
Anyway, Breakpoint after all updates can be your own experience, for me it is milsim arcade game with nice survival mechanics, no HUD, slow exploration. They took that stuff away but I bought skins to make my character a Terminator with peeled flesh and I bought Kyle Reese’s car from the future (a big rusted sedan with mounted gun and I bet they’ll still sell that stuff but I haven’t played since Terminator was live)

in Wildlands the main reason to me that made the game more tactical shooter is because the AI's UZI and pistols has 100% Accuracy when firing at you from 500 meters away, so you're forced to kill all enemies at the same time to avoid dying.

They should make a free-to-play Ghost Recon game and pump content, gear, missions etc. Huge big maps, Maybe some story DLCs down the line but no pay-to-win gear. Maybe add some PVP elements to it too. Kind of like The Division Heartland.

I stumbled upon your channel and kudos on this coverage of Breakpoint! 👌🏻 (love the Horatio Cain moments 🤣)
As someone who has (and loves) both Wildlands and Breakpoint and even got the Platinum trophy for both. Breakpoint is definitely a big step up from Wildlands in most ways, and a step back in some (looking at you, always online aspect) The state the game is in now is what Ubisoft envisioned it from the start, but somehow botched and took 3 years to correct...That said, I read they had 2 Ghost recon games planned of which 1 was a PVP orientated version, but (thankfully) backlash from the community sees that 1 binned. The other one they said will be fitting into what Wildlands was and Breakpoint improved upon, taking in 'lessons learned and feedback from Breakpoint' so here's hoping the next Ghost Recon will be a 100% playable offline with online option for Coop. (personally, I don't care for PvP and hope that doesn't get added in again and forced upon if going for the Platinum trophy)

I only tried playing this game after getting bored with S&B but still having time left on my premium. Turns out this game is AMAZING! I got hooked immediately, and can't put it down. There is just so much content, the graphics are amazing (especially considering its 5 years old), and the gunplay feels great. Can't believe I overlooked this one, but glad I got to experience it in it's final state to begin with.

well it's nice but we could use a few more slots for mp-pve and a longer range render view for snipers and binoculars.
The reason I state the more slots portion is it's hard to have a convoy with 3 drivers and 1 gunner which is usually the minimum for convoys (3 vehicles) so upping it to 6 would be great and make for even better rp scenario's a 3 person assault team enters the premesis whilst the 2 man sniper and spotter give callouts and give cover, and the final guy is the radioman; connecting the dots and calling in uav's airstrikes and more. a 6 man squad not a 4 man scout

I just bought BP for about $8 and it has been money well spent. Never played any Ghost Recon games before this one and my only experience with the Tom Clancy games has been a few splinter cell titles. I think it’s a great game to play even now in 2024. My biggest complaint is with the missions and objectives. I feel like they clutter the tacmap and also there isn’t really a set order in which you have to perform the mission. Which is ok except for it could muddy the storyline. For example, I just completed the mission with the submarine and I get a call from Stone in which he mentions that I took care of walker already. However I have yet to complete the walker mission.

GR: Breakpoint is how we should want developers to handle things. Try new things, absolutely, but if they don't work, listen to your fans and go back on those changes. I know Ubisoft is an easy dunk for most things but I think how they handled Breakpoint deserves some praise. They could have easily Athem'd it and never looked back

Donno if others mentioned it, but the Terminator live event was soso. When you started it, it was a pain in the ass because you could only stun the T800. By the end you had a gun that could kill him. Only the skins and - at the time the only way to get it- rotary grenade launcher made it worth it.

The predator event in wildlands and the terminator event in bp were my favorite events in any game, its a shame they didnt get perma licenses and a lot of ppl wont ever experience thoses sadly. Both events fitted in the games perfectly (Predator Jungle Mystic/ Terminator Skynet drones ai), the atmosphere on both were perfectly transmitted, just awesome movie feelings, the music was there, goosebumps! I still like Wildlands story better and overall it was my first but BP came around in the end, maybe if it was released as it is now it might have pushed wildlands of the throne, but we all know how it went. But both are a blast in coop, theres a great community out there...

I just wish they would've added a feature to entirely turn off all drones, behemoths, and other tech enemies or just unrealistic ones like juggernauts/heavies. The game is/was so damn close to being the perfect modern version of the original Ghost Recon games (GR1-GRAW2), but the inherent enemy design is and was flawed from the start.
All of that being said, you can't fix what was broken from the start in terms of philosophy and design choices for a Ghost Recon title. It's not a realism, squad focused gameplay experience, it's an RPG that tried to become what it wasn't, 3-4 years too late. The original Ghost Recon games were largely a US SOF version of Rainbow Six, with grounded stories (rogue Russian military elements obtaining Soviet-era ballistic missiles and cyberwarfare apparatuses), and none of this damn skill point stuff. While Wildlands annoyingly had the RPG elements as well, the setting itself was at least grounded as we've seen narco states before in Peru, Bolivia, and Colombia (as well as provinces of Mexico).
Is Ghost Recon Breakpoint a good game now? Actually, yeah, it is. It's a solid 8/10 experience, with challenging enemies (if you turn the difficulty up and turn parts of the HUD off), decent stealth and combat gameplay, and a serviceable enough story - it just isn't a good Ghost Recon game.

I bought the game as soon as I bought my PS4 in 2019. I've pumped several hundred hours into it since, both completely solo and adding in the AI team. I think it's probably one of the best tactical style shooters on the market.

one thing i hate about breakpoint is having to literally run or use fast travel to get to where i want to go without getting constantly shot at
it isn't fun to literally drive by an enemy, them spot you and start shooting at you as if they instantly know what you look like and that you are driving a stolen vehicle

I love them both but honestly I like wild lands more.. I have some issues with breakpoint.. one thing that annoys me is where u can free jump from but you can't pocket your guns to jump off a cliff and you can't even pull your parachute... Everytime I try to make those cliff jumps the parachute I can't get it to deploy.. in wild lands u can pocket your side arm and guns and just jump.. breakpoint to me is just lacking things I loved to do with wild lands.

Thank you! And I think it's all the desire for short-term profits. The suits will see stuff like Diablo Immortal or NFTs and demand the games incorporate that kinda stuff, but it doesn't work if a game isn't built for it (and NFTs were HUH!?) so you'll get a back-and-forth until they get hit in the wallet a few times. I think Ubisoft is catching on tho (fingers crossed)

    • @99bimmer

I think they were trying to streamline their 3rd person shooters. They tried to incorporate a Division style gear system into a game more suited to tactical play and it just doesn't work. (Thank god they didn't try to incorporate Division style enemies that can tank hundreds of rounds, cuz that would've ruined the tactical element)
Or maybe they were feeling nostalgic and wanted to have a terrible launch like Division 1, and then nurse the game back to health like they did for Div

I initially brushed it off when announced because of loot rarity, raids and so on - I can't speak for everyone, but I suspect many will agree with that having no place in a tactical shooter like this.
I then see a vid roughly 6 months ago by a channel called DEEF titled "The Hard Truth About Enjoying This Game." and on seeing the aiming with laser only (no crosshair) how minimal the HUD can be and general realistic vibes, I had to check it out - I've been hooked since.
I'm still working through all the class challenges to level them up and unlock their guns and cosmetics, but immersive mode is scratching an itch I've had since Future Soldier.
