The 1990s and early 2000s Carolina Panthers video dives deep into the history of the Carolina Panthers. Numerous players and coaches will be mentioned during this video including Sam Mills, Kerry Collins, Kevin Greene, Muhsin Muhammad, Steve Beuerlein, Patrick Jeffers, Lamar Lathon, George Seifert, Dom Capers and Tim Biakabutuka.
Big shoutout to CoachPhilGaming425 with the great recommendation. Additionally, I will be making a follow-up video because there is so much more that I want to mention about this period in Carolina Panthers history. Thank you so much for your interest in this video.

Sad day for football fans we lost great football player Kevin Green Rest in peace
Thank you so much for commenting. Kevin Greene was a great and memorable player. I like the name: Blue lightning Wolf 85. Thanks again for watching and commenting: Happy Holidays.
R.I.P. KEVIN GREENE #91 🏈🙏🏾☮️❤️💯
Loved watching this! Huge trip down memory lane. If you have the time and desire, an overview of the 2000's Panthers would be really exciting as well.
Thank you so much. Reading your comment was a great way to kick off the 2021 year. I hope to get to it (Panthers in the 2000s). I don't want to make any promises. I have been wanting to do the Detroit Lions in the 2000s but maybe I will do the Panthers. The Panthers franchise is interesting. John Fox was a solid coach. Have a great 2021. Enjoy the rest of the NFL season.
Great video. I love the 49er angle. I was a 49ers fan before the Panthers came to town and beating them made the transition to the hometeam much easier.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your comment greatly. I couldn't stand the 49ers because they were so good but I respected them a lot. I am going to do a follow up video because there is so much more I want to say like how good Kerry Collins was in that 2nd game against SF. As a kid, it was something for me to see this expansion team beating this team that had such great success for a decade and a half. Thanks again for the comment. Hopefully CAR will get back to the playoffs soon. Happy Holidays.
The Panthers loaded up on veterans in free agency in their first few years and focused on winning right away because they had to build a fanbase FAST in a region where people had many other loyalties at the time (49ers, Steelers, Cowboys, Raiders, Washington, etc.)
You know that is interesting about the comment trying to quickly develop a fanbase, is that can kind of be a problem with some expansion teams because the fans in that area already have their teams and it takes time hoping for the generations later will make the fanbase stronger. Once again, thanks for the comment.
@@90sSportsNostalgia Oh yeah that’s a huge problem…and being terrible for years doesn’t help either (see the Cardinals in Arizona from the late 80s to mid-2000s)
That 1996 defense and special teams was amazing
I really liked that '96 D. I was a Lamar Lathon fan. Carolina, the team that introduced me and made the zone blitz popular. Thanks for watching the video.
@@90sSportsNostalgiamicheal bates, winslow oliver, ron starke, and john kasey were on special teams. Impressive. And that linebacking corpe of lathon, kevin greene, and sam mills was phenomenal
Just found your channel and loved the video. I'm a young Panthers fans and don't know a lot about the panthers history in the 90s and early 2000s and I learned a lot about the franchise from this amazing video keep up the great work.
Thank you so much for you comment. It made my day. I greatly appreciate it. I hope you have an entertaining 2021 watching the Panthers. Thanks again and take care.
I love the Panthers but was born too early to care about football in the 90's. (Born in '95.) Thanks for this video!
Thank you so much for your interest in the video. That means a lot to me. I'm writing this on the day Baker Mayfield gets traded to CAR. We'll see what happens but I hope you enjoy the 2022 NFL season.
Great video. Sam Mills went to my high school in NJ
Thank you so much for the comment. I'm glad you liked it. That means a lot to me. Much love to Sam Mills and to New Jersey. That's cool you went to the same high school. Enjoy the weekend, and enjoy the Week 14 NFL games. Thanks again.

Great video!! Well executed, researched, and edited production 💪🔥
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your comment. It means a lot to me.
Thank you for the trip down memory lane
Thank you so much for the comment. I hope the video was worth your time. Enjoy the upcoming NFL season.
Great video... this new generation will never understand the history unless you was there.. thanks
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your comment. That means a lot to me.
What's notable is that the Panthers would be represented really well in the world of Professional Wrestling. Specifically in WCW, you had Kevin Greene (RIP) main-eventing PPVs against Hulk Hogan, and the very first release by the Panthers only turned out to be Bill Goldberg, who was the top guy in WCW in 1998-99.
Your wrestling knowledge is far better than mine. I really enjoyed reading this comment and as it was an interesting read. Thank you so much for the comment.
Great video! Love your break down and detail my guy! Now Sam Mills is truly honored and now a HOFer!!!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your comment. It means a lot to me. Enjoy the 2022 NFL season.
I live and breath Carolina Panthers FOREVER!!!!!
Thank you so much for watching the video and commenting. I hope CAR finds their QB. Enjoy the rest of Carolina's season. I hope there are some good things coming in the future for Panthers fans.
Panthers off field dysfunction really screwed up Carolinas potential success until the John Fox era
Ter E Rucks, thank you so much for commenting and watching the video. Also, thank you so much for being a subscriber. Carolina has an interesting decade in the '90s.
Yeah it did. Rae Carruth, Kerry Collins, Rashard Anderson, Todd Sauerbrun, Fred Lane. That’s why Carolina was never a team in the running for guys like TO, Randy Moss and others in later years when those guys became a available for wearing out their welcomes elsewhere because Jerry Richardson placed an emphasis on guys with good character over talent. The Rae Carruth scandal really rocked the team and the region because up until the Cam Newton, Thomas Davis, Steve Smith, Luke Kuechly years that’s mostly what they were known for.
As a longtime Panthers fan, revisiting footage of that '96 team makes me long for something better than what the team is doing right now. S/N: the '95 Panthers are also the first and only NFL expansion team to defeat the reigning Super Bowl champions as they beat the Niners in San Fran that year, 10-7.
Thanks for mentioning that info. I had no idea about that. That's a cool stat. I hope your Panthers get better. Thanks again. Try to enjoy the rest of the 2023 NFL season.
Thank you for this story as a young football I wondered about this
Been Laughing, thank you so much for the comment. I like the name - Been Laughing. I hope all is well. Take care and be safe. Enjoy the NFL playoffs.
Great videos as always. Very underrated channel
Khurtis, you are the best. I appreciate the comment so much. I hope you are staying safe and all is well. Take care and have a great 2021.
Sam Mills is the best panther to play. Gotta love the motto also. KEEP. POUNDING.
I do love that Motto. KEEP POUNDING. Forever, immortalized. Thanks for the comment. Enjoy the Super Bowl. Hopefully soon, the Panthers will make their 3rd appearance in the Super Bowl.
Rip Kevin Greene
Kerry Collins was very talented
Kerry had such a violent throwing motion as he would whip ball back then release it. I would try to copy it at times when playing catch. He had an interesting career. More to come about him if I get to my Saints in the '90s video. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching the video.
@@90sSportsNostalgia he had a beautiful throwing motion and threw a beautiful ball
@@90sSportsNostalgia guy threw for 40,000 yards and was a journeyman?
He had a gun though!!! Kerry could throw 80 yards if he had to!!! Warren Moon as far as arm strength he reminds me of!!! Kerry had great numbers if you look at his whole career!!! Very underrated
@@kevinchandler179 yeah man real quiet almost 50,000 yards
The 1998 season was an absolute disaster. Carolina had a decent at best offense under steve beurlein, but their defense was horrendous. They couldn't stop the pass, or run. 1998 exposed Dom capers as a below average head coach
That '98 season seemed more disastrous than the 1-15, 2001 season, because things fell apart so quickly for Carolina after that 1996 season. Moreover, that incident with Kevin Greene and Kevin Steele made things look worse along with Fred Lane being suspended for his celebration. Thanks again for your comment. I enjoyed reading it.
The 0-7 start is still worst start in team history. I remember in a 30-14 loss at home to buffalo, the fans put bags on their heads @90sSportsNostalgia
Just a younger fan brushing up history.
I'm glad this video brought some good history to learn. Thanks a lot for watching the video and commenting. Enjoy the 2021 NFL season.
Collins could have been a great one
They had a lot to build off of I don't know what happened there?
Where is Steve Beuerline?
Thanks for spending time watching the video. If you're talking about where is Steve Beuerlein in the thumbnail, you know what, I probably should have put him in the thumbnail. But with all due respect, I'm almost certain I talked about Beuerlein in the video (near the end because it was 1999) and his tremendous 1999 season as that Panthers offense was tough. But perhaps I should have talked about him more as that's on me. But Beuerlein was awesome in 1999. Thanks again, enjoy the upcoming football season.
WR Mark Carrier
FB Howard Griffith
Mark Carrier, very underrated. He had a 1400 yard season with the Bucs.
Toronto Blue Jays of the 90s, please ? 🙂
Very interesting choice coming from a Yankees fan. You know what, I was going to a little something different by looking at how unique the 1993 batting order was set up in comparison to how line-ups are nowadays. Thank you so much for the recommendation. I don't want to make any promises as it took me longer to come through on a couple of other recommendations to complete. Those Blue Jays were interesting in the '90s. I don't want to make any promises but I will certainly keep you in mind and I hope to possibly to start on it during baseball season. Take care and enjoy the holidays.
@@90sSportsNostalgia Okay, same to you 🎄😊...Stay safe ✌🏾💗💯
And about the recommendation, you're welcome 👍🏾
Mckyer was on the Panthers?
For 1 season. Then the Panthers got another former 49ers CB in Eric Davis. But when I think about Tim McKyer, the 49ers first come to mind.
As decent as that 99 Panthers team looked, I think they feasted on a weak division-remember that the NFC West was historically TERRIBLE that year!
Perhaps that may be the case. As a Rams fan back then, I can attest to that. But the Saints and 49ers would quickly get better after '99. As always, thanks for the comment. I enjoy your comments a lot.
George Seifert would be in the Hall of Fame today if he hadn't taken the head coaching job in Carolina. Seifert held the highest winning percentage of any coach in NFL history until he coached the Panthers. George Seifert's Carolina Panthers went down in history as one of the worst teams to ever play in the league....his time in Carolina ended what was to be a certain Hall of Fame induction.
I thought he called a Mexican player a slur
Sounds like, based on the Kerry's comment, he called someone a "nigga" (not hard-r) in an attempt to be one of the guys. But, race relations were atrocious back in the 90s and it was not well received. Unfortunate.
@@austin31bennett I wonder if the LA riots in the early 90s if that was part of the reason why.
