- San Francisco police officers said Monday they won't participate in the Pride parade unless they are allowed to wear their uniforms. Officers from the police department and city's sheriff's office said they want SF Pride to reverse their 2020 decision that requires them to wear civilian clothes instead. They added that "radical inclusivity" is a core city value, and they shouldn't be banned from dressing in uniform.

@Bahodi Zafa a pride event is to show solidarity and unity against repression and exclusion because of one’s sexuality. It’s about education of non LGTBQ that we are no different than them. It’s about building bridges. To exclude a group who employees many members of the LGTBQ community is discrimination and hypocrisy at its highest. No discrimination ever of any kind!!!!!

As a gay man I think this Suzanne Ford person is way off base here. How can you sit there and admit there are many gay/lesbian members of the police dept yet you are going to deny them the opportunity to walk in the parade in uniform just because some people have a negative view of the police? It's hypocritical that you preach the parade is about inclusivity and acceptance yet you unfairly exclude people due to their occupation.

Every other year they were marching in uniform and there were no issues, but all of a sudden people feel opressed? GTFOH!! More cry babies feeling offended, throwing a fit and causing a scene. Recently, there has been a lot of divisiveness injected into the San Diego Gay Pride Parade, as the organizers have disallowed uniformed police officers from participating, although they have participated for decades now. The mayor, Todd Gloria, and other city officials have vowed not to participate, as they do not want to be part of this divisiveness. Good for them.
The reason given for the ban is that some community members, particularly trans and POC, have expressed discomfort with uniformed police officers being present, due to past hostilities, real or imagined. In contrast, the vast majority of LGBTQ people in San Diego are in favor of uniformed police, as many polls have shown. The local LGBTQ press has frequently articulated the concerns of those against the police participating, but refuse to provide even coverage by articulating the views of the other side. Biased journalism does exist, make no mistake.
This is what happens when people pray to the altar of minority status above all else….it becomes a spiral of division and eventually falls apart. Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most oppressed of all? Right now it trans and POC, a trans POC is the holy grail of oppressed…..regular gay and lesbians can’t measure up to that oppression score. Slice and dice society into ever increasing oppressed groups, in a way to invert power and take it from the majority to give it to the minority. Study Hegel and Marx…..it’s textbook….and never ends well. 🤷♀️

I sympathise with the individuals in the police. They are queer and proud and want to be at pride as who they are in society, as the rest of us do. And I'm sure individually all of these people are great. But when I say the police have historically only been on the side of gueer oppression, I mean it. They were and in many cases are the front lines holding it up. The system of policing and the history of policing are all incongruent with pride as it stands today. These things are messy and it isn't clean. A system can be bad, and still do good. The morality behind a system can be terrible, but the people in the system are good. These are larger than individuals.

How ironic after all these years fighting for inclusiveness these Gay Pride Organizers have begun practicing exclusion. Sad & shameful.. they instead should be resilient against any act or pressure from within and without their organization to act in a way that goes against the principles to which the gay pride movement was founded. This was a short-sighted and in my view entirely incorrect decision that punishes our own LGBTQQI+ Officers who work every day to make the Department and the city a better place for everyone. I disagree with the decision and will not be attending or supporting SF PRIDE parade this year as a consequence.

I have relatives who are homosexual. I Love them without conditions. In the 80's, I just happened to be walking in SF & my direction included some of the Gay Pride March. I talked with some of the people & had no problem.
It looks to me like the leaders of this same-sex, gender fluidity agenda have gone insane.
They are living examples of the most intolerant extremists I've ever been exposed to.
I wonder if I can start a Movement & a City March that supports equal rights for us Heterosexual, "Privileged" White Men. Of course, I probably wouldn't be admitted into SF because I'm uninjected with computer chips.
