    Weldon. I love what you are doing.
    I am from Benue State where we practice farming 100%.
    I am also a farmer but focus more on processing of rice. But based on what I just watched here today, a new idea just sparked in my head.
    Planting yams in bags would really help those who reside in states that have poor soil to join yam production.
    All you have to do is visit Benue State or any state or country with fertile soil for yam cultivation, load the soil into bags, and transport it to your community.
    Then, you can plant your yam.
    This method can be done for almost all cash crops. Yam, maize, groundnut, pepper, okra, and others.
    It is a good innovation.
    You can easily do it at your backyard even in town.
    Farming can be practiced anywhere.
    Kudos to all farmers watching this video and reading this comment.
    Thanks for the video

    It's actually great to let people know this method is possible. But I have the feeling that, that's all the producer wants us to know because I see that a lot of vital details were omitted such as average pricing for sacks, the types of chemicals used for treatment, close-up view of the exact positioning of the seeds during planting, etc without which anyone would make great mistakes. However, I don't know if the producer wishes to keep those as trade secrets that we have to pay to get, which is ok, if he can give us a link to reach him and pay to get same. Nonetheless, the video is still great at least as an eye opener. Thanks.

    • @joedee1863
      @joedee1863 Год назад +1

      Mechanising the process increases profits for individuals but what's wrong with giving jobs to many people who can't find work. Spread the joy around and help more of your countrymen to be successful farmers. When humans work together they become greater than the sum of their parts. Psalms 133:1 This is a secret most people don't understand. There are ways to increase productivity without mechanisation one of them is called method study.
      You can learn this in college or read books on the subject. They sometimes call it 'task optimisation'.
      Just growing yams in sacks rather than in the ground is one example of it. But with a little lateral thinking other good ideas can emerge.

    • @nnekaamahagwu6077
      @nnekaamahagwu6077 Год назад +1

      I see your angle, but Technology is there to make our lives easier, that's why we use cars so we don't have to walk. Also, anybody who has plans of scaling their farm business will need to adopt some mechanics. Even with that, farming still requires huge human input.

    -no more than 3 bags per row
    -Roll down the sides of each bag instead of leaving it to flap
    - a well in the middle of the farm with a pumping machine connected to a sprinkler so that you're not only depending on rain

    Why wait for the rain when drip irrigation can provide water the same as rain? A little bit of brainstorm will help my african brothers thrive. With drip irrigation, we don't need season to produce yam. We can produce all year round. We can even go further as producing sequently on a monthly basis. Yam takes around 7 months to get ready for harvest. We can put them by row on bags sequently and the harvest can be followed sequentky as well. In this case we utilise the area of production to its full capacity and produce more in a year round.

    • @monekekosisochukwu6269
      @monekekosisochukwu6269 5 месяцев назад

      I don't think it's a matter of brainstorm, but a matter of cost. Sometimes these lands are just gotten for the planting season, sinking a borehole in a land that's not yours may be a waste and sometimes when the land is yours, sinking a borehole can be costly, so we can still be planting till we can afford drip irrigation

    What time of the year is it advisable to get your yam sets ready and at what time is the best to plant them?

  • @hyacenthorji5648
    @hyacenthorji5648 Год назад +1

    You have started a good thing and my take is;
    1. Yam is a Royal food for Biafrans. Investing in it, is not only awesome but great Investment, which could employ great number of people as.long as they live. But you need to see every thing in industrial or massive scale.
    2. I am delighted to see all this done you people are doing and I would think as difficult as it is you need to invite people who could fabricate ( machines- prototypes) to help out in such difficult parts so that the entire job could be brokendown and become affordable.
    3. Now I also suggest that bigger bags that could take not just 1 but say 3 sett of yam should be better. So that one will expect middium sized yams and using less space.
    4. I could see that the hardest thing is digging the first ground. Think of after "clearing scrape the land surface to an empty space and living the soil and mix it with the manure and then load into the bags before planting the yam setts". So that the machines eg. Dumper will be going to collect the soils through out the day will make it easier.
    5. Now because of child labour laws be careful of using children for your Vedio goes round the globe. Fabrication will have a lot to do; but it will be protos, so that many brains and hands will be on deck so that after few years of re-innovation on the product and processes Ik-oji gaa wu asuru, na alaigbo. Weldone.

      Well, going organic for insect preventions is earlier when you're farming many 100 sacks.
      When it comes to commercial or several millions of Naira, we don't take that risk.
      Organic chemicals have their limitations.
      But, still we use based on recommended rate from manufacturers and field situations.
