@@martinm1231 I love John McLaughin, In terms of English 60's blues rock Clapton was at the time considered the best at what he did. This was the beginning of this great genre of blues and rock n roll mix. I still think he is in my top 5 rock guitarists. Considering his music has a wider appeal, he is much more well known than McLaughin also a pioneer of his style and technical ability.

Mountains of Marshall amplifiers and straight ahead rock blues and rythym, had the unique pleasure of seeing them live in 1968. The real first 3 man power trio who influenced generation's to come and still do.

I have a difficult time choosing between Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience ...... I was (and still am) an avid fan of both groups ..... which was the best? ....... nearly impossible to say ... I'm just glad we have recordings of both ....
This seems like a pretty subjective thing. My brother would say it's Rush and he'd have a solid argument. I might argue ZZ Top. My ex would say it was The Police without even a moment's hesitation. My cousin would unabashedly proclaim it was Nirvana. Someone more metal-oriented might point to Motorhead. Who we think is the greatest, or finest, has a lot to do with what type of music we favor.
The original point stands, however: Cream is certainly in the discussion, and probably a frontrunner.

Now look at the difference’s in Catalogs. Can’t argue the facts. Now as far as Geddy’s voice… I will give it to Jack. As Geddy’s is an acquired taste for some and straight up nails on a chalk board for others. But on Bass… Please! And if you don’t like Alex? Better listen to La Villa Stangiatto if you haven’t already? It’s an instrumental. So no singing in this one.
This tune came out while the radio was playing stuff like "I Want to hold Your Hand" (later but you get the idea) and in a lot of places didn't get much air time on top 40 radio. It was also about the time of FM radio playing progressive rock that helped bring this great music to the masses.
This was quite a few years before FM radio became commonplace. This album, when first released, was in mono, not stereo. Most people had really bad needles on terrible turntables before good stereo systems and components were starting to become widely available. For most kids who had Beatles albums and Cream, these good systems were unaffordable, at least in the States. These albums were normally torn up by the needles long ago. If you have the original mono in decent shape it could be worth a fortune.

Eric Clapton is my all time favorite artist - has a decade worth of music to fit whatever your mood! 🎸🎶topped only by Zeppelin as a group - but Eric Clapton as an artist IMHO tops the list 🤟🏼 from rock to BB King! He is a treasure ❤️🎸 The vocals on this one are shared between Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton, listen closely and you can hear it. Sunshine came out in 68. It was Creams first hit that put them on the map. Jimi Hendrix covered this and played it for Clapton and the boys at a London night club.
It's played a lot at football games by school bands. In high school in the early to mid 80's our band played this every game. If you watch college football like me you'll hear it sometimes.
As a schoolboy hooked on the Beatles I was so fortunate when my best friend won a radio station contest and received a copy of The Creams 'Wheels of Fire' album, that just took me into another world and another galaxy of musical possibilities.. 1967, age 16, i go into my local record store, and ask for Sunshine Of Your Love by Cream. I pay for it and i take it home, its on 45 rpm 7 inch vinyl.I play it on my sisters dansette record player, and I have been playing it ever since, Its THAT good.

Their December 1966 debut album, Fresh Cream, was a mix of updated blues numbers and pop-oriented rock songs. Ginger Baker the beast on the drums. This song was inspired by their friend & rival Jimi Hendrix. Their sound influenced Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, & pretty much all hard rock that followed. Clapton whales on the live version of "Crossroads". I also like "I Feel Free".
My brother was 18 and I was 15 and he introduced me to this song by cream. I thought I was hot shit now that I was listening to the ( rockin song ever. And then he kept me in music all 70s phenomenal rock I never to this day thought I'd see you young people enjoying and so much appreciation shown to all the greats of the 70s and 80s! Rock on

Cream, the ORIGINAL psychedelic band founded in 1966!. Eric Clapton, lead guitar and vocals. Jack Bruce, bass and vocals. Ginger Baker, drums. Together they were fire.
The riff was created by their bass player, and usually lead singer, Jack Bruce, with the words by his co-writer poet Pete Brown. Drummer Peter ‘Ginger’ Baker and on guitar Eric Clapton. Eric sings some lines on this if you listen closely. At the very end they alternate singing the last line ‘I’ve been waiting so long’, so you can hear their different voices. You reaction is similar to my own as a 13/14 year old in 1967 when this was released.

I'm a 55 year old guitarist, so this tune came out around the time I was born, and that dirty, gritty guitar tone along with that riff STILL gets me making that stank face, lol. So many things have evolved over the past half century, but some things from decades ago are still great.

Cream was a supergroup from the late 1960s. Short-lived, but left their mark. It featured Eric Clapton on guitar, the late Jack Bruce on Bass and lead vocals and the recently departed Ginger Baker on the drums. You should check out the song "White Room" next. Fun fact. The riff on this song, is mostly walking down the blues scale in the key of D. So simple yet so awesome!

Cream was only together 3 yrs in the late 60s. Sadly like a lot of other bands, egos ruined what could have gone on to be the greatest rock n roll group of all time. All were top musicians in their field and they made an incredible amount of hits in those 3 short years.
