Totally agree with your review. I’ve had the same watch for 4 years now and it still looks like new. I wear in rotation through my collection for maybe 4 or 5 days before change. Watches have come and go but I can’t imagine I would ever want to sell my Ocean One 39. Love it 😊
I am so so impressed by Steinhart. This one is amazing but the vintage military is the one that that I know I’ll keep long term. They have both been so good I’m looking at trying to find another from their collection to try.
I fully agree. Got myself an Ocean one GMT with the Batman Bezel. I was looking for the 'original' Rolex, but i don't want to wait maybe 5 years or so. So i purchased the Steinhart and i am absolutely happy with it. For me the Rolex is obsolet now. What i also like very much on those Steihart watches is the bracelet with the screws. You can adjust the width perfectly over a few days. Wear it and check until you find the perfect size. The only requirement is a good screwdriver because the screws are really tight. 😁
I had one of these for two years, utterly gorgeous to look at and outstanding quality. I have recently sold it but only to buy a Steinhart Ocean 39 Premium 904, it will be my third Steinhart. I had a warranty issue with the watch, it was sent back to Steinhart who dealt with it and sent it back all free of charge. I had excellent communication with the after sales team. Highly recommend.
Sadly my Ocean one started leaking! It’s been repaired and the glass gasket was split, not good quality unfortunately the plastic material had become brittle
Definitely is a step up from the other subby homages I've seen, for me though the Cronos with the pt movement is just about everything I could want or need. Great work with the review mate
Might be interesting to add that this is an older O39 Black - they've since changed the ceramic bezel insert to a more traditional one that has markings that are cut into the insert and filled with white paint. I think yours is a gen one version which had those metallic looking markings on the bezel that will "fade out" under certain lighting conditions. I've owned seven Steinharts altogether - two of which I still own to this day (39 Ceramic Green and 39 OVM). I tried a couple of 42s initially and found them too large for my wrist. And while I will recommend the brand to anyone who'll listen, after two to three years of ownership, there are a few things that bug me. I find the indices on my Ceramic Green a bit underwhelming... they look more like flat steel donuts put on top of printed-on lume plots - not like lume filled indices you'd get on other divers (like the Rolex Sub). The dial is a bit boring what with its matte black/nearly grey looking color (I much prefer the deep black, lacquered dial on my CW Sealander). The cyclops is way too weak. Should be 2.5x, but I reckon it's only around 1.5x on the Steinhart. I'm having a hard time making out the date unless I put on my reading glasses - and I use pretty weak reading glasses.. :). All that said: It's hard to think of another brand in this segment of the market that offers this much value for relatively little money. Considering the entire package you're getting, these are pretty hard to beat. Plus all of my Steinharts came very well regulated from the factory and their customer service is very good too.
I’ve been impressed y mine and have actually been thinking about getting another. But I just spent my whole watch budget on a Stowa so need to start saving again for a while 😁
@@WATCHingJames Don't get me wrong: I'm not bashing the brand by any means. I'd never sell my OVM and I'd have a hard time selling my Ceramic Green. The thing that made my Steinhart-habit a bit more bearable is that, despite what some folks say about the brand, I found it pretty easy to sell them on.
I have the first gen ocean one 39 since 2017, runs pretty well although I hardly wear it. Being first gen, the bezel is slightly misaligned with some back play and the lume isn't that great but for the price, it is definitely a good buy. The ETA2824 runs okay at -12secs per day without being serviced since I got it
I have Steinhart ocean one blue ceramic 39, the mother of pearl. Discontinued now, I am glad I got it in time. And I am very tempted to get a few more Steinharts. The next one I plan to get is the ocean one black ceramic 39 GMT.
With that many Submariner homages, it’s hard to tell which ones are the best for each price bracket. Personally I’m not that much into the Submariner but at that price for a homage it should have a glide lock micro adjustable clasp IMO.
I wonder why glide locks are so rare. I would have thought they couldn’t be that difficult to add to bracelets, but yet most watches don’t have them. If anyone could list 6 brands that have 200m or 300m rated dive watches under $800 with SS bracelets having solid end links, solid links, screws instead of pins and glide-locks, I’d find that very interesting. Steinhart’s have all the bracelet features except glide lock clasps, but no glide locks seems to be the rule for watches in general, not the exception.
Steinhart and Gigandet making great affordable hommages. The customer service from steinhart is not the best for my opinion. The service from Gigandet is awesome.
I truly love my Rolex GMT Master II but I love my Steinhart Ocean One Black Ceramic better because it’s just smart to have an excellent watch that’s 29 times less expensive than my Rolex. I will always live my Rolex and will buy a Submariner when one becomes available - that will give me 2 Rolex watches but I will have many more Steinharts - they are just smart and beautiful!
My first "good" watch was an Ocean One. My grail when I got into watches was (and still is) the Sub. So the Steinhart ticked every box. I wore it for a week while waiting on my first luxury piece to arrive (Tudor) last week and it still keeps great time, after 7 years and no service! Will never part with it.

I had this one for a couple of years but ended up selling it. I realised that I am just not a big fan of cyclops’s. The quality is fantastic and I still definitely recommend them.
It’s a quality looking watch. However I’m totally anti cyclops and for me it spoils the whole watch. I have one watch in my collection that has a cyclops, and that’s only there because it was a gift.
Have been told the cyclops glass can be removed using a hair dryer to make the glue dry up and then having it carefully removed. I'd assume one would then need to use something to remove any residue left.
@@WATCHingJames it’s a bit of a toss up between this and the San Martin, the 39 is just a touch small on my 6 3/4 inch wrist, the San Martin is perfect, so I mostly wear the SM and the full lume bezel! If it wasn’t for the Steinys movement, the SM would be better, the finish on the SM is more lustrous, the size perfect.
I know this watch very well and I have to say, that except the ETA movement (SW200 nowdays) it is worse than 100$ Watchdives WD1680. Mainly because the cyclops which is bigger and has only 1.5x magnification instead of true to original 2.5x one on WD and also glossy dial on WD. It is very difficult to justify Steinhart's price here.
So many sub homages that all look the same (obviously),£70 pagani to these steinharts. These, San Martín & cronos may be better quality but still a homage at the end of the day. If it’s not a genuine Rolex it’s second best, so why pay so much money.
I understand this argument and have thought about it lots. For me I really like the subby but I know I will never buy a real one. Only because when or if I have that sort of money to spend on a watch I have a list of watches I would but before the subby.
I agree in that I will never buy a real one. They are going for more money than I want to spend on my next car! Lol. I have a pagani homage, which I am happy with, my only Chinese watch to date, just remain unconvinced on spending more on a lookalike homage. Great content, by the way 👍
Steinhart is possibly the best value for money of all watches right now. I hope it continues to produce quality timepieces for years to come
I agree. The quality, finishing , movement and price is amazing. Very few watches can compete.
Honestly?I'd take a steinhart over just about anything else under £3000 and that includes Tudor ,sinn , seiko etc

I have no doubt you will love it. It is an amazing watch.
Thanks for WATCHing
Had exact same watch some years ago and sold it , decent quality and yes its an hommage watch but who cares right 😂
Thanks for WATCHing
What size is better?
39mm or 42mm
Thank you
I would personally go for the 39mm. For my 17cm wrist
@@WATCHingJames thank you
It’s a quality looking watch. However I’m totally anti cyclops and for me it spoils the whole watch. I have one watch in my collection that has a cyclops, and that’s only there because it was a gift.
I’m not a huge fan either and have sold watches before because of this.
I have just bought another from them without the cyclops and it is stunning.
Have been told the cyclops glass can be removed using a hair dryer to make the glue dry up and then having it carefully removed. I'd assume one would then need to use something to remove any residue left.
you can always switch the crystals.
IS THAT A 2.5 MAGNIFICATION
I can’t remember. Sorry. I’m sure their website should list it.
Mido Oceanstar GMT diver with 80 hour power reserve.
I’ve been a fan of that one too. A great looking watch and great value from what I’ve seen and heard.
The Pepsi GMT James, forget the Seiko 😉👌🏽
It does look very good
@@WATCHingJames it’s a bit of a toss up between this and the San Martin, the 39 is just a touch small on my 6 3/4 inch wrist, the San Martin is perfect, so I mostly wear the SM and the full lume bezel! If it wasn’t for the Steinys movement, the SM would be better, the finish on the SM is more lustrous, the size perfect.
They both produce amazing watches.
I am still so impressed by my latest Steinhart. The vintage military
Cuanto mide tu muñeca?
Muy buenos videos.
Saludos desde España
Gracias por ver. mi muñeca mide 6.75 pulgadas
Is it worth $350-400?
I think so. It’s well made and has a Swiss movement
Seiko sind auch Hommagen, bezeichnet nur niemand so😮
Thanks for WATCHing
I know this watch very well and I have to say, that except the ETA movement (SW200 nowdays) it is worse than 100$ Watchdives WD1680. Mainly because the cyclops which is bigger and has only 1.5x magnification instead of true to original 2.5x one on WD and also glossy dial on WD. It is very difficult to justify Steinhart's price here.
The WD watchs do look good but they will not compare to a Steinhart in my opinion.
But both are great options depending on your budget.
Hello From Brasil
Hello. Thanks for WATCHing
Great content, by the way 👍
Thanks Martin.
Have you seen the latest Christopher Ward that’s appearing in reviews? Now that is an expensive homage watch! Lol.
I certainly have
Price of the watch: 500 euros.
Price of a simple overhaul (cleaning and lubrication): between 300 and 400 euros.
Verdict: Not viable.
Thanks for WATCHing
The only homage its ok to buy 😂😂🤷♀
It’s definitely a great homage to consider
It's missing the number 10 on the bezel am i right?
Yes. It has the minute track up to 15 then switches to number at 20, 30, 40 and 50
Is it wrong that there is a missing number 10? Or no?
@@davidsonviray1403 it's a homage to a Submariner, not a copy. It's right that it has some small differences.
@@HadLux1989 i see, it's just my first time to see a diver's bezel without a number 10 marking
Ginault piss this!
The Ginault is fetter finished but it is also more expensive.
Both great watches.
ETA movement...I don't think so. Take the back off and have a look.
They list there movements are the eta or sw movements.
When you have the watch arrive the card identifies which movement is in your watch.
Poser gear. Mr Steinhart should be ashamed.
Thanks for WATCHing
will continue to enjoy your channel tho....@@WATCHingJames
