The presenter from a completely different world. It's like he talking about a completely different species! Or contemplating the habits of animals in a zoo.
This compared to some of the fans walking out on the Kop vs Palace, and no atmosphere in general ... how times have changed. Lower the fucking ticket prices, the working class want their game back
I wish football was still as innocent today as it was in 1964. The Kop are still capable of making melodic music like this, but there's an apathy to the stand now. Big European nights bring the sound back, but today's premier league matches are a bit flat. Time to start singing. No shouting. The pool fans can be really powerful. Just takes effort. Come on lads, get the stand signing properly again!!!! YNWA
Sadly many people in this film are no longer with us. Today we are champions of England again after 30 long years, so let's celebrate and think of all LFC supporters who could not see our victory today.
What a stunning piece of TV, has any other developed country recorded such an authentic piece of pure working class culture. I hope so, and would love to see.
Watching today you just can't avoid noticing how terribly crowded the stands are. You can see the inevitable disaster that comes of packing so many people together like this.
lolykebrtwv wrong..at Hillsborough they had fences where the supporters were crushed it was also overcrowded due to policemen not doing their job and let too many people in
No one understood more about why the kop was important to liverpool fc, than the man whom essentially made liverpool into the world name they became under him. ie bill shankley He appreciated more then most how important there role was in who liverpool were, and what they did on the field of play. Football has gone today, in teh age of science and weapons, to limit how effective players are. Its nice in this age, that liverpool once again, and there kop last season showed there is still this atmosphere at anfield, and liverpool of course became european champions last year. Although i never watch football anymore really. Its nice to see liverpool show that that spirit is able to come back. The team i watched as a young person, broke liverpools spell on football, and i will always be glad about that, and proud we were able to do it. But since i gave up watching them, and football in general, its nice that that spirit of liverpool fc, can bounce back, and shows that its still under the hood. I was always glad, even though i do not watch football anymore, that liverpool never left anfield, and there kop. No matter what you think of liverpool fc, there kop, is the most famous football stand in football. I am glad, those that ran liverpool appreciated at last moment not to leave anfield, trying to find gold elsewhere. Liverpool fc will always be the kop, and liverpool should be proud they have the most famous football stand in world football. Shankley whom made liverpool a world name, in terms of its team, always appreciated how important the kop was to liverpool. While most famous clubs ignore how important there loyal fans are, it was always a great thing, that liverpool fc and those behind it, understood, there fans on that kop, was just as important as any of there players on the field of play. Its so good in age of money, that liverpool never left anfield, and the kop, and i believe liverpool were rewarded with this faith, with becoming european champions again last season. Like i said in age of money destroying everything in the game, its nice, that the kop still gets the attention it deserves as footballs most famous stand. Like i said, even though my boyhood club broke liverpools spell on football those decades ago, i am glad that liverpool kept with who they are, and the kop, and they got rewarded for it last year by winning the european cup again. I am glad i gave up watching football and the club i liked when i was young, today its just kill or be killed with weapons in football, and science that destroyed what was unique in football. Football used to be high in principles, but those days are long gone. Its kill or be killed today, and has been since turn of the century really. Slowly football is eating away whats good about it. I have always admired the kop, and always will do. Its a part of football that was not destroyed by peoples desire to make more money, and its nice, its still being appreciated in this day and age, of cynicism. The kop essentially still gives football fans, an idea of what football used to be. Today fans are no more important as how much money they bring in by buying goods, or buying tickets. It used to be different, like seen in this video above, and how someone like shankley appreciated a fans role in the game to be important. Today thats gone, far more important are weapons, that science created for war, to stop people, or excite players, if they are playing fr big nations like usa(whom win womans football easily with such techs). Football = RIP, but at least the kop still has that simiring energy that showed what football used to be, and the energy, and passion that used to be associated with football.
@RED9BASTION It's worse than season ticket holders being from St Helens now lad, last time I sat in the Kop was against Newcastle when we won 3 - 1. To my left was my mate I went with, but behind we was two Scandinavians and to my right a variety of people from the Middle East. They're going to the wrong people.
fantastic .Best time ever for soccer and music and this says it all . Now it is just money and foreign players who couldnt give a shit about the club but just the money . I mean I have more in common with a Martian Eskimi than Salem has with The reds . The music is shit today aswell .The fans today couldnt even sing a tune bow
I mean u just called it soccer so I’m assuming your American. And not just Americans but people like Americans are ruining the anfield atmosphere with popcorn and there phone out all game. Make it just scousers vs who ever and you will have the best atmosphere since the glory days
@kennybam89 Anyone who had a heart, a hit for Cilla Black, that really was the era of the Mersey sound, although the Dionne warwick version is better in my opinion
And these men played for the love of the game, not for unreal pay packets that make them think they are worth it! It is just another money making factory now, so the real fans are priced out of watching - either live, or even on TV.
did the tv anchorman say GAY at 1:59 ? 'cause if he did in today's homophobic world that would be considered vvvvvery funny me likey them old school english champs
thats when going the game was for working class local men.

It wasn't terracing that killed people. It was perimeter fencing. They got trapped and couldn't escape due to the fencing.
