If you only care about the gaming performance - then you definitely won't notice any improvement over the 5900X. Regarding the RAM - what motherboard do you have? Daisy chain or T-topology? Cause only T-topology does truly benefit from having 4x sticks, otherwise go for 2x dual rank sticks (if you need 32gb).

well actually yes, the game isnt even real dx12, its dx12 mode and is also only scaling to a renderworker count of 4, thats also why the comment that the less core chip in the video has any disadvantage is nonsense. The game can only utilize 4cores meaningfully. Which is a very well known fact. Every setting above 4 will just lead to core swapping/minimal performance gain (less than 0.1%) or even performance loss and higher CPU temperatures. So if you use a 4c/4t CPU use the setting at 3 or below If you have 4c/8t or more use it at 4.
@@narfsc2657 Thanks for this info, In a couple of months warzone will be getting a new map, is it possible some of these optimization problems will be fixed and the 5950x could perform better than the i10900k? I want to play on 1440p monitor 244hz. It looks like the 5.30 GHz on the intel is what gives it the better performance?
@@MCMIXING well in optimisations nothing is impossible, they could potentially get more performance out of more cores, but probably the only way to do this is to optimize around parallelism which is kinda hard to do and alot of effort without sacrificing on stability. Since the game is also targeted at Consoles that are 8core/8thread only. the chances that they invest in parallelism for pc only, are low. First thing you do as developer is to ensure that lower end stuff is running acceptably to just get more potential buyers. Or in other words they care less for high end hardware as long as its able to play "flawlessly", they dont care much if you get 144 / 200 or 240 fps. Its all about not crashing, not bugging and working as smooth as possible without breaking the bank. parallelism is what makes it possible that multiple cores work on the same task at the same time. Currenlty its just "this core makes sound" "this core makes physics" "this core makes ethernet" and so on. Thats also the reason why its so heavily restricted to a few cores, things to split up are running out really fast. the reason why the 5950x does lower FPS is obvious too, its mostly just in the CPUs nature to switch core frequencies quite often when using PBO overclocking, one core will always drop in frequency quite badly, this is also why the temps can be kept low and why the %lows are quite worse with Ryzen CPUs even if avg FPS can be higher. With ALLCORE OC on ryzen you just get even worse performance tho just more constant, and probably killing your CPU longterm with it.
@@narfsc2657 Thanks a lot for the detailed response. So it looks like the i910900k is the best processor for warzone because it has higher single core performance, and thus can help in reaching higher FPS? I went on to Symfunny's stream and asked him how the Ryzen 9 5950x (he just switched from the i9) is going and he said he was getting higher FPS with the i9, so hes not sure at the moment... Would you recommend i go with the i910900k? It seems to be the most popular amongst professionals and streamers for high FPS low settings. Thank you.
@@MCMIXING from the people i know that had tried both the 10900k and 5950x they all say the 10900k gave them more FPS unless they did something weirdo like using AMDs game mode or disable SMT with the 5950x. Which considerably increased avg fps but made the game stutter and gave even worse %lows and shit. But you have to consider that everyone really ran high stable overclocks on the 10900k, something that is pretty much based on silicon lottery and in the end of the day this it what it comes to.. I mean the 5950x is not a dud for this game. And overall the performance difference between the two is to small to really justify paying for the other and play the lottery when you already have one of them. For 10% performance "in some places on the map" its just not worth it to switch. If anything i would wait until something faster comes out, we get AMD refresh with 3DV and Alder Lake (which seems to be a dud) .. but i would probably just wait until both get released and see if i can get a reasonable upgrade out of either of them (atleast 15-20% difference to your current CPU). I know its desperate but nothing we can do about, they are milking us so hard in this industry.
oh! you are using M12A! ok, the latest bios for m12a doesn't had new microcode update, the memory has lot's of bug. even z590 bios right now is not perfect.
Probably rtx3090, but i don't think it matters. Smart access memory with amd card boosts gpu performance, not cpu performance, as far as i know. If that was what you were thinking.
Any chance someone here could tell me if upgrading from a 3900x to 5950x would increase my FPS massively because with my 3900x and 3080 I average about 90 to 130 FPS. NOTE: just trying to get 240 FPS to take advantage of my 240hz monitor. 🤦♂️
this is how its SUPPOSED to be done you dont limit the overclock to the max of the slowest cpu right? simply running everythuing at 3200 mhz for a benchmark is stupid you dont limit the ram speed they can run, thats a fake benchmark you are gimping the faster chip artificially
the latency might be an issue, 12 cores using skylake cores would've been an awesome cpu. All intel needed to do was add 2 more cores to the 10900k and have pcie 4 (ofc i don't know why they didn't.. there must've been a reason they didn't).

@@Patrick73787 yes it does when properly tuned (plus later agesa fixes let the infinity fabric go to 2000mhz if you have a decent sample), you don't just all core overclock a ryzen cpu either which is another thing i have a problem with in this benchmark, because the 5950 here isn't maxed. You use the curve optimiser which for example lets the 5800x do 4.85 all core and will boost more than one core to 5.050 when it needs to (rated speeds are 4.7 and just setting an all core 4.7ghz oc will perform worse btw), this obliterates the 11900k (please note the 5950 when curve optimised and with the right pbo limits will do better than this since it's just 2 better binned 5800xs on 1 die)
+Lee Langan You're obviously ignorant of something called "Per Core Overclocking" on Intel CPUs which is particularly efficient of 11th gen CPUs. 11900K CPUs can run at 5.5GHz on 2 to 3 cores and the 5.2-5.3GHz on the remaining cores. With the Per Core Overclock the 11900K beats both Zen 3 and 10th gen chips in a majority of games. Do your research.

if close to 5000 was already dailyable on super lucky Hardware with Comet Lake, what if you could daily close to 5500 and still have acceptable Timings...
What would be the best cpu for 4K gaming
Why are you running the 5950x's ram at 3600? No wonder that thing aint hitting 5ghz.
IDK what it is about the infinity fabric on that processor but if you are not pushing past 1800 it will not hit 5ghz (put it at 3666 see if infinity fabric stays 1:1 past 1800 and it will hit 5ghz all day) .
i think it is not 3600 on the 5950x
Hi I’ve been watching your videos and your results have made me upgrade to a z590 msi tomahawk and 10900k 1000watt psu ive got a 3080 as well. I’ve got the 10900k at 5.3 with 5.0 ring core and 16GB of 4000mhz ram at 16 16 16 36 im getting 200 in downtown and 200+ most other places I’ve ht turned of and render worker count set to 5, is there much more I can do to increase FPS just looking to max my 240 1080p monitor, I’m also playing at 120 render resolution, thanks for any advice!
Why 5 and not 10
Thanks for the video.
Do you know what would have been better than Rocket lake... Comet Lake with Pcie Gen 4 and maybe DDR5 support!!
This has confirmed it for me. Delid and Heatkiller block for my 10900k and push it to the max. Should see me though for gaming for ages. Sandy Bridge Mk2!!
Yup all they needed was pcie 4 comet lake refresh, that’s literally it
great video keep up the great work much appreciated
This really makes me want to jump up to the 5950X from the 5900X but I think I may see more gains by investing in new RAM like you've been talking about. I try to watch the b die content while I cook dinner for the kids and when free but I am pretty sure my corsair 3200 mhz RAM is not that.. just grabbed a kit of vengeance from best buy to give my system room to breath when playing warzone 4x8 32GB
^yikes
@@CAB00M3R I have a B550 MAG Tomahawk and half of what you said I gotta look up. Two thing I want to learn to dabble with next are the RAM OCs and then looking into understanding latency. Until then I'm an avg consumer benchmarker lol.

what is your personal opinion? so?

This review is excellent. Great Job.
I am not a computer expert... why are there different timings and mhz for the ram used ? ... should the ram timings and mhz not be identical for the comparison?
It’s the maximum for what each cpu/architecture can handle
@@FrameChasers really? I just saw an official AMD AD where the "sweet spot" is 4000mhz for the 5950... but I am not able to verify I only have an 3900xt with 3600mhz ram
@Benjamin W I don’t want to be rude but there are way too many advanced concepts that you wouldn’t understand based on the questions your asking. If you don’t feel the 5950X here is maxed out then you have a long road of research ahead of you and this channel might not be a correct fit for you
@@FrameChasers no offense taken... Thank you for your answers
Does changing config file for warzone and reducing workerthreadcount helps with fps? I got more fps (while gpu not maxed out) by lowering it
well actually yes, the game isnt even real dx12, its dx12 mode and is also only scaling to a renderworker count of 4, thats also why the comment that the less core chip in the video has any disadvantage is nonsense. The game can only utilize 4cores meaningfully. Which is a very well known fact. Every setting above 4 will just lead to core swapping/minimal performance gain (less than 0.1%) or even performance loss and higher CPU temperatures.
So if you use a 4c/4t CPU use the setting at 3 or below
If you have 4c/8t or more use it at 4.
@@narfsc2657 Thanks for this info, In a couple of months warzone will be getting a new map, is it possible some of these optimization problems will be fixed and the 5950x could perform better than the i10900k? Im asking this because i just bought a ryzen 9 5950x thinking that it would be the best processor to get, but i checked and a lot of pro players and streamers use the i10900k.
Bro can you make video 5950x overclock settings on asus bios motherboard i have formula viii x570
What about this same test with VR ? Valve index
oh! you are using M12A! ok, the latest bios for m12a doesn't had new microcode update, the memory has lot's of bug. even z590 bios right now is not perfect.
What video card was being used?
Probably rtx3090, but i don't think it matters. Smart access memory with amd card boosts gpu performance, not cpu performance, as far as i know. If that was what you were thinking.
Any chance someone here could tell me if upgrading from a 3900x to 5950x would increase my FPS massively because with my 3900x and 3080 I average about 90 to 130 FPS.
NOTE: just trying to get 240 FPS to take advantage of my 240hz monitor. 🤦♂️
Yes, it should increase massively. If you're talking about warzone... zen 2 struggles pretty badly.
@@Sixkeg1 Zen 2 used to get 200 easily in Warzone in the early seasons, I blame the devs. Now you need top notch hardware to crack 200 in downtown

this is how its SUPPOSED to be done
you dont limit the overclock to the max of the slowest cpu right?
simply running everythuing at 3200 mhz for a benchmark is stupid
you dont limit the ram speed they can run, thats a fake benchmark
you are gimping the faster chip artificially

Absolutely love your intros haha!
The 11900k is an absolute waste of time why did they even bother.
The 11900k was Intel’s Bulldozer.
I wonder how the 11900k fares against a 5800x or 5900x. The 10900k is still pretty awesome otherwise.
imagine a 12 core 24 thread made out of the big 11900k cores
the latency might be an issue, 12 cores using skylake cores would've been an awesome cpu. All intel needed to do was add 2 more cores to the 10900k and have pcie 4 (ofc i don't know why they didn't.. there must've been a reason they didn't).

You are better off just paying for a consult, save yourself all the hassel. Or drop by the Twitch stream, or join the Discord, you can learn lots. By the looks of things you have spent enough on your rig. Up to you if you think your setup is worth a consult or not? I definetly know that once I finish building... At the end of the year, we're going to see some interesting changes. I think Intel will take the spot for a moment and AMD might come back? I'm not sure but Intel is bringing their game so AMD has to do the same.

@@kangerer8886 here in the US they are more available than ever before. Like you can legit buy a 5950X for $799-$829 a few times per week where they are in stock online for 1-2 hours then gone.
I get what you're saying though - I also think gamers aren't just blindly picking up the 11900K if they have the option of the 10850/10900K too.
@@kangerer8886 yea it's +/- 5% on average with i9 for gaming and better for non Intel optimized productivity workflows. I think 10th Gen Intel and even 11th gen to a point gives you higher OC limits if you know how to push them. I'd you pulling up and putting a CPU in the socket and calling it a day for gaming R7 is nice and everything else is R9.
I actually got more FPS on the Ryzen 7 5800X in certain games for the week I had it before calling into a 5900X. Then you have the 5950X that's a beast for Warzone and separates from other Ryzen chips by a decent margin

This is the most awkward and unstructured video I have seen.
11900k is the worst “upgrade” ever.
The problem for the 11900k isn't that the 5900x exists, it's that the 5800x exists and properly curve optimised and with pbo boost of +200 obliterates the 11900k in virtually everything anyway
No it doesn't. Tom'sHardware has a "CPU Benchmarks and Hierarchy 2021" list online and we see the 5800X PBO trailing behind the 11900K at 5.2GHz.
@@Patrick73787 Yes but are you really going to sit there and tell me it's worth the extra $100 over the 5800x.
+XxViciousxX the 5800X isn't worth it either compared to a 5GHz 11700K
+Lee Langan You're obviously ignorant of something called "Per Core Overclocking" on Intel CPUs which is particularly efficient of 11th gen CPUs. 11900K CPUs can run at 5.5GHz on 2 to 3 cores and the 5.2-5.3GHz on the remaining cores. With the Per Core Overclock the 11900K beats both Zen 3 and 10th gen chips in a majority of games. Do your research.
