Another great original song! This is such a beautiful heartfelt melancholy song. Tim's lead was awesome along with all the guy's harmonies & Adam's harmonica sounds were great as usual. I don't mind having an instrument played once in awhile in a song. It was tastefully done in the background without taking over. It added a nice element. Also like the scenery in Colorado.
When they write music, they write using instruments and then they arrange it for a capella later. Everyone agreed that Chris' guitar playing was so beautiful that they wanted to include it in the arrangement.
This video was filmed outside of Denver while they were on tour. It was a very cold day and Chris Chatham (guitar player) had to keep warming his hands to play. The guys were really good at hiding their shivering! This is an original song by Tim, Austin & Chris. The song is about them leaving home to do what they do and will always take a bit of “Dixie” with them. It’s about what they learned from growing up there and what they will carry with them for life. Very poignant, I do believe.
It's an original written by Austin, Tim, Chris Chatham and Adam Wakefield from Texas Hill. People seem to forget to mention Adam since he's not part of the performance here. Great reaction. All songs they will release from the album So Long Dixie are originals co-written by Tim, Austin or both. There are two covers on the album, but both have already been released as videos before the album came out, Folsom Prison Blues and Everybody Walking This Land. Great reaction! Thank you, both!
Their new album "So Long Dixie" has 12 originals out of 14 tracks, & those twelve are written by Tim &/or Austin, as well as some others who co-wrote with them. It debuted as #1 on the Billboard Country Music Chart. Loved your reactions!! 🍟❤️
I first heard this song while at their concert in Reading, PA in October 2022. I fell in love with this song. There is a video of this song from the Reading concert on you tube. I was sitting 3rd row center from the stage. Could feel Tim's bass.
That's their good friend Chris Chatham (sp?) He wrote this with Tim and Austin. From what I hear they were talking about since they now live in Tenn. that the south had been getting a bad rap in the last few years. Chance's verse kind of touches on this. It's just so great. The guitar along with Adam's "nomonica" I'd perfect. They're new album is all originals. They are beyond any other group out there in this type of music. Thanks for reacting to this.
With the exception of Born in the USA, when it's just the five member of Home Free there are no actual instruments played. When there are instruments, it's always the non-Home Free performer. This song is so beautiful. 12 of the 14 tracks on this album are written by Tim and/or Austin, and friends. The whole album is perfection and wonderful. Stargazer Lilies is my favorite by far.
I saw them in concert, in Reading, PA, and Tim admitted that they "broke the rules" with this original song. Chris Chatham actually performed with them that night. It was fantastic. Loved seeing your reaction to this.
It's unusual, as you know, for Home Free to have real musical instruments in their music, usually Adam Rupp provides all the instruments they need. Outstanding song and performance, as usual.
It’s an original. Tim, Austin, Chris Chatham (Tim’s friend and guitarist) wrote it. It’s so beautiful. I saw them sing this live and Chris was there and played guitar and Adam with his soulful harmonica sound was perfect. They said Chris was playing around on guitar when they were writing it and thought yep, guitar needs to be in this. Love it!😍
@@lrfcowper I know. I guess I just don’t always add his name because then you have to add he’s from Texas Hill and it just adds too many words. I’m just being lazy. Sorry!
Ya know, there is 1 reactor that was pissed/offended by this song. He's yank, so he took the song totally the wrong way & saying Dixie is bad & it's about slavery & racism.... fries are cults & koolaid, etc....omg!! He got shut down real quick! Lol. This is a beautiful song & we FRIES get the message. 🥰🥰
@@minneyruth I've never been so pissed & offended & disgusted by a reactor. I mean if you don't care for something, even our beloved Home Free guys, that's ok. But he was just evil about it. I'm thinking he's got some deep jealousy or less than issues. 😉🤭
@@minneyruth those people have underlying issues that come out with the smallest irritation. Keyboard warriors with nothing better to do. The downright evil nastiness is never warranted.
Believe on this album (So Long Dixie), same as with Dive Bar Saints --- all but 2 are Originals. And again -- Damn, they're good; deserving much more recognition than actually getting!!!! Be Safe
This is co-written by Tim, Austin, Chris Chatham (the guitarist here and longtime songwriting partner of Tim's), and Adam Wakefield of Texas Hill, not just Tim.
I always enjoy y'alls reactions to Home Free. The thought occurred to me as I was watching, Silver Destiny= 25 years together. Then you can rename it Gold Destiny. Something to shoot for, anyways.

There are four writers credited on the album, they are Tim, Austin, Chris Chatham, & Adam Wakefield from Texas Hill.🍟❤️

@@lrfcowper that's it. Couldn't think of him.
This one needs radio exposure. It's absolutely beautiful.

Yeah, this song is beautiful, but Adam's hauntingly beautiful "no-monica" definitely adds to it.

This is an original Home Free song, written by Tim , Austin, and Chris Chattem, on guitar!
Looks like snow under the tumble weeds.
It has 1 very well placed guitar...not over powering at all ! Yes this is an original! It is the title track of their new album...So Long Dixie
Great reaction guys! 🥰🥰

Pretty sure you're not going to know this, as it is an original. But, it does have some "qualities" that sound just like a few other old songs.
Tim wrote this song
Not just Tim-Austin, Chris Chatham & Adam Wakefield(Texas Hill).
