Not Excalibur. Exalibur was not the sword pulled from stone. The lady of the lake gave Arthur Exalibur. We don’t have an official name for the sword in the stone however. Two names that are possibly the sword in the stone is Claiburn or Clarent. Clarent in legend was purely ceremonial, it would test the king la worth and then would become a wall hanger.
I love that explanation! Although, it is very rare and has great meaning behind it, especially dealing with the Mandalorians.

Now, I’m not someone who claims to be a defender of the new trilogy or even that big of a Star Wars fan, but I do think that people are overly harsh when it comes to the sequel trilogy.
Star Wars is such a malleable property that I wouldn’t say that one of the problems with the new trilogy is its lack of understanding of the lore, since lore in Star Wars is pretty vague and flimsy, anyway.
That’s not a critique, btw. I actually think that’s one of the best things about Star Wars: it’s limitless possibilities.
Also, The Mandolorian is a spin off tv show starring characters no one knows or has invested interest in while the sequel trilogy is a course-correction from the prequels, the beginning of the new Star Wars/Disney merger and a continuation of the OG trilogy, so it has a lot more things riding on its back.
TL;DR - they’re both completely different things with completely different priorities so comparing the two is a little unfair.

isnt that all the more reason to carefully plan out the recent movies? if the mandalorian is meant to be garlic bread from the side menu (to use the spinoff analogy, insert whatever side meal is good for you), and the main trilogy a bowl of great pasta(again insert whatever dish you like the most), then i dont see it as unfair at all if people have a problem with the side menu being more appealing than the main event. storytelling quality can be compared across the board imo, if many consistently question choices with the main trilogy in ways they dont with the mandalorian, then its stops people from getting the best project they can, whether they like or dislike it individually, hardcore or a casual fan, no matter what the project is and its 'priorities' so to speak.
context, like you, also very casual fan, liked ep7, didnt care for ep8 and thought ep9 was outright trollish, even a fan with as minimal knowledge as my own was baffled by some things done going back to force awakens, a movie which i liked dearly. the moral of the sequel trilogy i believe IS to take your time IP as great as this. Perhaps my wording could have been better.
I’m not saying that it’s wrong to compare the two products to each other. Like you say, storytelling is storytelling, no matter what (although, is there grounds to the argument that The Mandolorian is a tv show while the sequel trilogy is, well, only three movies, so there is only so much time the creators have to tell that story while the other can have as long as they want?)
I’m just pointing out that, maybe, people’s extreme love of The Mandolorian comes from the fact that no one expected much from it as opposed to the sequel trilogy, which had a much, much bigger task, having to please fans and newcomers, that it’s kinda a miracle that they’re as good as they are.
Tbh, my Star Wars production knowledge is pretty small, so I’m just gonna have to take other people’s word when they say there were planning issues with the sequel trilogy.

I'm so happy that so many people recognized the Darksaber. Clone Wars and Rebels are amazing but aren't as well known as a lot of other Star Wars properties.
I was one of the people who hadn’t seen those series so my reaction was oh shit he has a light saber. Rather than oh shit he has the dark saber.
They’re known by the majority of the Star Wars fans actually. And there are some casual moviegoers, who don’t know anything outside the movies. Thanks to mandalorian, the new season of the clone wars, and the Obi Wan series, and with more series coming, they’ll probably learn more.

I love that Taika did this, he's best known for indie comedies and then after Ragnarok we found out he is amazing as an action director. Fight scenes this episode were kick ass.

His success won't last long, he's directing the live action adaptation of AKIRA, a lot of leaks about the changes they made for film is really not making it look good, in fact worse, that film was in production hell since the 2000's and it's not getting better i don't care how good taiki is, AKIRA is really hard to adapt.

One word: Consistency
One name: Dave Filloni.
Because they follow or at least inspired from the existing Expanded Universe/Canon.
Expanding also changing things/enriched the lore, but this fuckers at KK house is destroying the old lore so the new one can replace it.
Filoni knows and loves Star Wars, how to expand on canon and evolve it in a logical way, and he knows how to craft a good story and a modern mythology with good guys and bad guys. Kennedy is about exploiting the Star Wars property to social engineer popular acceptance of a certain agenda that's popular with many people in Hollywood right now. You watch a Filoni story, you feel fulfilled and wanting more. You watch a Kennedy story, and... while a lot of people might gush over the special effects and the action sequences, there's a certain emptiness to everything that makes you wonder why they did it that way.
Finally .. and the mashup was amazing. .. The Darksaber reactions and explanations were on point 💯

love re-living the experience of this episode with the dark saber twist at the end. my jaw also dropped and then had the privilege of explaining to the room the significance of that reveal.
I freaked when I saw the dark saber!... while the rest of my family had no idea what it was.
I had to show them the brief explanation in Rebels. Told them to watch Clone Wars and Rebels for more awesome Star Wars content as they really enjoyed the Mandalorian.
Good on ya for including clips of people explaining the Darksaber because a lot of people were confused by it.
Please give us a flashback where Gideon battles Bo-Katan (played of course by Starbuck herself, Katee Sackhoff) and takes The Darksaber from her.
This season finale pulled so many punches that I cannot decide which moment is my favorite.

Remember, only one Darksaber was ever constructed and the saber's last known whereabouts was on Manadalor during the galactic civil war. There reaction when IG-11 drove in to the rescue was priceless
And now we know how he got it. I feel bad for No. She was put in an impossible position and made the only logical choice. People give her so much crap for failing to rule twice, but while she definitely made some bad choices and her fair share of mistakes, neither time she lost power was really her fault. I get why some fans are over her trying again, but personally I’m willing to give her another chance now that she has allies who are loyal to her because of her character rather than her bloodline on her side.
As soon as chapter 8 aired I could not wait to see the compilation for this one. I was not disappointed.

I was 11 or 12 when the original came out . this at the time was the most amazing thing i had ever seen. Now i'm 55 and the madolorian is hands down the best star wars title of them all.

I enjoy seeing all of these cool people react to the season finale..I reacted to it similar to what these guys did..I don't know the history of the dark saber so I'm going to research it before season 2..and of course baby Yoda stole the show IMO..and I agree with that cool chick with the short hair when she said "best nanny EVER"..IG-11 WAS the best nanny ever..I was sad when he destroyed himself to save everyone..I'd ❤ to have a bad ass killer nanny like that for my cat 😁🐱
