This song was originally written in '64 and she covered it in '65. The characters in the video represent a modern take on Nina and her daughter (for real) at a time right after leaving a long abusive marriage in 1964. I love the spirituality around honoring sacred femininity that is so rooted in African tradition, and also love that this was positive, romantic vision of a beautiful, loved and loving black woman who grew up in a beautiful home… seems like too many portrayals of African American lives are of struggle and while I get that’s important to portray sometimes we miss the magic and beauty and love and affection and soul in these beautiful families and traditions and I love how this was really all about feeling good and giving out love rather than just a sort of over simplified portrayal of overcoming blatant struggles to get to a place of feeling good

Not a word of exaggeration brother, not a syllable. Could not agree more with your sentiments. Ms Nina is magnificent and it does n't matter how often I hear this piece it gives me goosebumps every time and that's best part of 50 years. My absolutely favorite Nina Simone song. She does more with her voice in the first few bars than most orchestras can do in an entire song. Feeling good is a hard fought place - you earn it and Nina reminds us how hard we have to work to get there and how we should appreciate it once we arrive because it could go quickly.
My son & i who live 1500 miles apart have spent the morning sending music to each other. Just sent him this. My fave tho is when he sends me songs I raised him on. Music is love.

Nobody can quite nail this song like Nina Simone does. Many have tried, but she owns it for me.What an arrangement it truly unbelievable.
Acredite minha amiga, sei bem o que vc quer dizer. E digo mais: não importa qual das três interpretações vc mais goste dessa música (Original na Nina Simone, Versão do Michael Bublé ou da Laurin Hill) a música fica excepcional em todas elas.

Credits for the song Feeling Good: Written by English composers Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse for the musical The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd. It was first performed on stage in 1964 by Cy Grant on the UK tour and by Gilbert Price in 1965 with the original Broadway cast.
Oh my! The actors have amazing hair!
I know right!
My first thought too! Beautiful.
All natural and healthy.

The intentional act in the video of clearing out negative energy. Prepping for a spiritual bath while sharing these acts with her daughter 🙏🏾
We miss you very talented, incredible voiced singer.
It doesn't matter how old this song is. Every-time we listen to it, it hits u straight your soul and brings u back in time.
This is nothing but a masterpiece work of supremely delicate art. Lord, bless the memory of Nina
Beautiful
Not a word of exaggeration brother, not a syllable. Could not agree more with your sentiments. Ms Nina is magnificent and it does n't matter how often I hear this piece it gives me goosebumps every time and that's best part of 50 years. Extraordinary talent largely unappreciated in her homeland. Very sad. While she's long gone her legacy lives on and we're the fortunate beneficiaries.
FINALLY AT 73 I DISCOVERED THAT I NEVER HAD SELF-LOVE, U CAN'T SURVIVE IN THIS 🌍 WITHOUT THAT, CUZ U CANT LOVE AND RESPECT OTHERS WITHOUT RESPECTING URSELF FIRST...SOSO GRATEFUL FOR JESUS GIVING ME THIS GIFT❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Isn’t it amazing when we find healing for our 💔?! A year ago I came to the realization that I’d never been loved before…not since I was as a young child. But I’ve done the arduous & painful inner/self work & my soul is young again & my heart is filled with love!
The outro song of A Quiet Place: Day One. Who's here? ❤
I’m here after seeing the movie. Great film.
🙋
Yup, that's why I"m here!
I beat almost impossible odds to be able to type this. A month ago, a surgeon told my husband I had at best a one percent chance of living. We're still not sure what caused the brain bleed. I do know it's a new dawn and I cry like a newborn girl every time I hear this now. This song is important to so many people for many reasons. That's mine.
Lysana, great to read your post! Thrilled that you pulled through. We just watched SFJazz do a broadcast of a Sweet Honey in the Rock concert, which featured this song, which led me to this RUclips video for the first time - really wonderful - which led to your post. Stay well!
Eu mesmo não estando bem de saúde, fazendo químio… Adoro ouvir.
That's a truly powerful reason... I really hope you're doing well.
I’m here after quite day place one‼️‼️

One of my favorite tracks....
This song is equivalent to what a wonderful world by louis armstrong
Right!
Yeah, the actual immortals
I dont think so
This song gives me the memories from 1965 that I never had.
"Thank you for helping me live again"
2:20 until the rest of the video made me cry 😭 because y’all can hear the pain & power in her voice💯
Everyone involved did this song an insane amount of justice. Absolutely gorgeous and Nina would be proud💜💜💜
Perfect Days and A Quiet Place: Day One
Yeah... Day love this.
“It’s good to have been back.” -Samira
Hermosa canción, todo lo hace sentir perfecto!!
“Dear Eric, Please take care of my cat. Don’t pet his belly, he doesn’t like it. Don’t feed him too much, he’ll get fat.”

That movie got to me 😭🐈
I have been listening to Nina Simone since the movie Point of No Return
Classic track. When the dramatic trombones kick in,this song becomes a totally iconic unbelievable piece of art.And the strings a little later too add to its absolute brilliance.. Nobody can quite nail this song like Nina Simone does. Many have tried, but she owns it for me.What an arrangement it truly unbelievable.
George Michael does a cover of Feeling Good and name checks Nina Simone..... it's fun to watch ruclips.net/video/9JOXbSZcgkk/видео.html
Please don´t forget the discrete but sublime role played by the Piano.
Hope everyone understand that music, specially the new generation. This is pure art
we do
every generation owes black women everything, they built the foundation
Absolute perfection!
The best part of this song is the a cappella intro & when Queen Nina speaks in tongues.
I saw this song in the movie cruella and now I'm obsessed with the song
@@wellingtonmessmer1873 respectfully those other 2 artists are great however, neither one has the soul this woman possessed. Nina was greatness exemplified.

Fav!!!!… Always ✨✨✨🦋🦋💕💕🌹🌹🌹
I cannot say how much I adore this song, especially Nina Simone's rendition. How superb was she? And the dancer on this video is extraordinary. Thank you!
The greatest female vocalist that graced this earth. She expressed her difficult life through that wonderful catalogue of music. Sadly missed.
Ditto That 💃✌️🥰🙏
All are equal in the kingdom of Heaven, but Ella is the greatest!
This song will forever be a classic!
The ending in quiet place Day one with this song was just perfect 🤩
Wow..I was worried at first the video would not do her song justice or that it would take away from it somehow. But what a melding of visual and musical inspiration! A real celebration! Just wow!
This song will be always be there for anyone who is ready to embrace life's struggles....every day...one step at a time....on this planet...for a moment.

What a voice, so enchanting. Love her singing.
That goosebumps moment when the Sax, Piano and trumpet enter.....
Um Clássico 💯 maravilhosa
One of most gorgeous songs in history sung by one of the most gorgeously talented women in the world.
This is true classic
Essa musica já muito poderosa, sempre me tira do poço. Com esse clipe então. Essa performance traduziu tudo!!!!
A master composer, concert pianist, singer, performer, song writer, civil roghts activist AND LEGEND👌
What a voice! Pure soul! Brings this song to life!
Just saw A Quiet Place : Day One yesterday and googled using the keywords "what song was played by Lupita Nyong'o in the ending scene"

Always thought it was wonderful that she could find it in herself to sing this song after everything she had been through.
Her voice, the words, the music : I Feel !
I imagined writing and recording like Nina Simone 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉my inspiration
This is the feeling of freedom, feeling free from my past, no more shame, no guilt. The best song to liberate ourselves.
I believe it is "only" about freedom. It is so sad that alot of people think its a feel good song. She was so brillant that she left it to those ignorant enough to hear what they want to hear.
The song was originally written by Anthony Newley and Leslie bricusse for their musical The roar of the greasepaint the smell of the crowd
This song was born from generations of tragedy, people should take time to appreciate music like this. It's a testament to humanity.
