I've already heard your whole album but this song resonates to me the most. Your lyrics are more relateable and deep it makes me (and a lot of other people) feel understood and helps to get trough hard times. This whole song hits home for me and to think those things you sing on a daily basis can just fuck up your whole mindset - your Refrain for example. My heart paused for a Moment as the Refrain came up and had to swallow for a moment to be honest.
I'm just so thankful to know your music because of all the points I've already made. Bless you all, we will all overcome our inner demons and the war we're fighting within us.

It feels like everyone is kicking me down for my little flaws and it's too much to handle sometimes. Part of the problem is my anxiety trying to take control of the wheel, and the fact that I'm harder on myself than anyone ever will be. To me, this song represents my constant struggle to come to terms with the person I am and all of my flaws

So get input from new people. Go out there and be yourself, try something new, make new friends who don't know anything about your history. And find out what they think of you. [Spoiler alert: They don't secretly hate you. They actually think you're a pretty alright sort.] You'll be amazed. I did this and I couldn't believe they were thinking of the same person. I was like... didn't you just spend a week with me? Are you talking about someone else? Don't believe the voice inside your head that tells you no-one will ever like you, because that's a damn lie. Sorry if I'm expressing myself a little strongly, but it's the worst pain ever and it's all based on untruths. No-one should have to endure it.

When your told "your never good enough" as a kid, you grow up believing it. And it can leave scars nobody can see. Live 24 years of it and tell me it does not change you, because it does. Only someone thats lived this truly understands the pain. And the only way to be safe is hide the pain. It is easy when you feel like such a failure to everyone for so long. Just bury it down.
I've somehow managed to live to 44 now, and even with a loving wife and a good career, the scars never go away. It's just so hard to get people to understand the pain
People used to tell me that all the time. Then, a few years ago, they had the audacity to tell me "We were just joking, you didn't need to take it seriously!" But ... the damage is already done...

What I love about music in general is it can mean one thing to someone and something completely different to someone else. Music is a universal language and it speaks words that are hard to say otherwise. It helps us all understand one another. We can share experiences with musc. Especially if it speaks as loud as this

Last night my husband told me I need to stop listening to your music. The words make him uncomfortable and he doesn't understand how they can possibly be any good for me. I told him that I need to know that there is at least one person out there who understands my pain. ' I love his voice and he make me feel.'

@@twistedreality997 It was coming from a place of love because he knows that loud noises and angry voices trigger my PTSD. After I told him that listening to someone who understands my pain helps so much, he did his best to understand. Truthfully, I am so glad he doesn't understand. He just loves me through it all.
@@twistedreality997 Or he is somebody that has never been depressed and doesn't understand how someone can feel these emotions. He obviously cares about them because "he doesn't understand how they can possibly be any good for me".
He's not being condescending or showing a red flag, he's just never been in our situation and he's trying to give genuine, good advice.
Situations like this is just a muddled cloud of grey, and even if you have the entire context of the situation (unlike a 1 throwaway YT comment in a time when you feel vulnerable) there can still be no clear answer (e.g. go outside, you'll feel better, so you go outside and still feel just as bad. You are going to feel worse if you are inside all day, but going outside won't necessarily make you feel any better. You might feel better, but it didn't work, but hey at least you gave it a shot). See how in an example like this there isn't any clear black or white but instead a muddy grey cloud that you will never get a true answer from?
.At the end of the day, the best we can do is be empathetic because we know that the husband is trying to help the best he can

I'm a little late here, but I just wanted to say that I'm actually glad I'm past the point where I can truly relate to this song. I still love it, but I've managed to win, for now. I have no doubt I'll fall back down at some points here, but for those of you that haven't been able to beat it yet, I urge you to try your damndest. Don't just resign yourself to your fate, because that's how you lose. Fight it, and when you eventually win, it'll be one of the best feelings you'll ever experience. It feels like you against the world, but you've got friends in places you'd never expect. Fight. Don't give up. Live.

We always have high expectations that we may never meet, or cant meet in that moment. And we beat ourselves up about it. Life's hard, but knowing that these guys know how were feeling definetly helps motivate me, and make me feel better 🖤

I never felt good enough growing up. I felt smothered by judgement, my negative feelings unwanted, and people tried to "fix" me. But the idea of being "fixed" suggested they wanted me to be something or someone I wasn't. How could I be anything I'm not? Who I am is all I can be. I never tried to pretend for anyone, I wouldn't. I resented feeling that others wanted something from me that wasn't me. These needs were mine, from me as I was, and I would work my dang hardest to get them met. So the lyrics, "Demonize, criticize. Your words eat me alive just like knives tearing me from the inside. What you want I'll never be! Why can't you be proud of me? ... I never asked to be like this" really hit hard. Especially the proud of me part and how its sung. It brought tears to my eyes.
Don't know if anyone else can relate, but I eventually learned that I defined "good enough" as permanently loved, accepted, and wanted. I believed if I could be "good enough," I would experience love as stable, consistent, and long-lasting... no wonder my soul yearned for it so badly and deeply. I never achieved "good enough." I still experience love as temporary; something that only exists in the moment, something that could be lost or withheld from me in the next moment.
I was here since day one and it makes me almost tear up seeing you guys have come this far. Great job as always. Never stop teling our stories through your songs!

I used to feel like a letdown, someone who isn't good enough for anyone... I started working at a hospital in June as a Unit Assistant in Emerg, I started feeling rewarded and happy with who I've become over the last 4-5 months especially with all the amazing peeps I've met who've grown to care about me as much as I care about them
Starting this job saved my life and I listen to this song as a reminder that I overcame myself and this state of mind

I've been binging this music because I've never felt so alone in my entire life but the words make it less so. Words I struggle to tell other people because I can't find them nor do I wish to be a problem for them. I've been so stressed and broken and defeated that despite having every reason to live (my unborn child), I want to disappear. Not exist anymore. Stop fighting. Stop trying. But I can't and it's becoming increasingly hard to not do that. But the music helps. Even just a little bit is keeping me from giving up

My new favorite band. They speak the words I've been searching for my whole life. Keep doing what you guys do cause it's working. Every song of theirs I feel in my soul. My life is hell I've had chronic PTSD since 3 years old spent half my life not even knowing. I'm always a second choice. I'm always hated or misjudged, my parents don't even help me through anymore I'm alone and IM NOT OKAY.. I'm never good enough. All anyone ever sees is a devil inside. If my scars could speak they would hear my pain. I'm battling daily and losing. I just want to be okay. I've been a mess for a decade my physical health is spiraling downward doctors have been trying to figure out what's wrong with me half of them said they've never encountered this before those words just make me feel even more alone. Nobody will talk to me I just need people to care cause I feel like I'm the only one going through this and it's such a lonely road I've been walking down. Please someone reach out. 😭😭😭
