Add to the fact that they're are about 5 bourbon distilleries within 5-10 miles of the races made it heaven. I want to visit, but i am a recluse and have not left my city since 2005. I love bourbon, though, and have watched all of the online tours of different kentucky distilleries i could find. When drinking bourbon, i think of how europeans brought what they knew about whiskey making to the new world, how methods were refined and altered, and how geographical locations provided favorable results in the end product. I think of how a charred oak barrel provides color, aroma, and a memorable taste.

To the girls' question at 6:02, yes there is a high concentration of limestone in Kentucky. Some people claim that the limestone content in the water is what gives Kentucky bourbon its unique flavor. Incidentally, limestone is a very soft rock that erodes easily in water. That's why Kentucky has such extensive cave systems, including its most famous: Mammoth Cave National Park.

I was born, raised and have lived in Kentucky my whole life and can say I am somewhat of a bourbon connoisseur and I have never heard nor have seen 'Benchmark' anywhere lol - give them some woodford reserve, jefferson reserve, grand pappy's or eagle rare. those are all very different but good choices!

Woodford isa good bourbon if you are sharing with friends and don't want to give up the good stuff; Jefferson is a very good bourbon; Eagle Rare is my favorite at this point and I have a bottle hidden at home for a really special occasion. 1792 is also a good bourbon, but Angel's Envy is no good for my taste. FYI - Kentucky Bourbon is the world's best whiskey.

@@waynecuffley3451 Agree. Woodford is my every day go to. Makers is not bad if you don't want to drop the few extra for the Woodford. Angel's is just ok to me as well. My favorite (not a bourbon) is Whistle Pig Old World.

The whole scotts trying on a southern accent was hilarious... Cmon yall! Bourbon is a sipper. The slower you drink and the more you get on the nose the better the experience. Gotta let the bourbon do a little salsa on the tongue before you go for sip two. Gotta get acclimated with the bourbon.
