Love the night spanish lobster fishing.
so much fun!
Thank you for sharing your night dive and I would love to see more of the night dives.stay safe
glad you enjoyed it!
I wish RUclips was around when I was commercial fishing back in the 80's. Good Lord I have cooked so much food for friends and family. It's great seeing your videos and experiencing the setting of your household. It was about the same thing for me living in Key West. Roommate and his girlfriend and always a house guest or two from in town or outta town. We tried very hard to not shop for food for a month. It was crazy easy to get protein, eggs, chicken, fish, crab, lobster/goosters, Dove, pigeon. What we couldn't do without was oil, butter and coffee. We would comb the island and gather coconuts and other fruit and we had a nice garden we took great pride in. I have proven self sufficiently we can do it. I just needed a cow and a few other animals. You guys are awesome and I appreciate your content with the way you represent the way of a fishing family and friends. You have great skills and your not flaunting a lot of expensive stuff to show off or show boating it up with a loud AF music to get a hype. Truest videos of the keys and the way of life. Absolutely amazing and beautiful there. Lets hope it lasts forever.
haha love to hear it! glad you enjoy the vids brother! thanks for coming along.
You make it look easy, but anyone who knows it is work, but if you love what you are doing it isn't work.... Blessing my friend
Amen!
I didn't know about Spanish lobsters and I grew up in Florida. Not many people know about slipper lobsters but they're worth looking for.
I didn't know slipper lobsters were in Fl. Have seen them on asian cooking vids.
most people don't, and the slippers are much more difficult to find in my opinion. I've only caught 3 here in 8 years.
@@miamiwax5504 I had a friend who was a crab trapper and he caught slippers sometimes off Sarasota. Another buddy caught some by hand there. Apparently you have to know where to look, I was told they hang upside down in holes.
@@KeyWestWaterman I heard they hang out in holes upside down a lot. My buddy in Sarasota caught them that way. He said they're not so rare but people don't know where to look.
Looks like so much fun
always is!
Did a night dive and it was a blast. When I was a kid my dad would say, “don’t be afraid there’s nothing in the dark that isn’t there in the daylight”. Well that not necessarily true underwater😂🤷♂️ So yeah I was a little nervous but that quickly ended when all of the critters you wish you could see on day dives are out in numbers at night. Very cool!!
haha that's too funny! I really do love the night dives!
The aquaman of the key hahahahhaha
Lol!
Thanks can't wait to go catch them.
enjoy!
KWWM Mondays!!!!!!

Big props for not shooting that red and being conservation/sustenance minded ✌🏻. Night dives are the bomb!
I try to be when i can! Thanks for watching!
25 years ago you could beach dive off Hollywood Beach (FL) got to first reef look for staghorn coral and find spanish, no limit either
Is all the staghorn wiped out now there? I heard they were cultivating it and trying to get it going again in tge spots where it got bad.
25 years ago it was scarce so not surprised to hear of cultivation, not aware of current situation
Yup! Lots of them around
Awesome show on the Spanish Lobster and the night diving . Every time I watch your show I learn something new and that's why I love your show brother . Keep making them and a big shout out to you , Madilyn and Chef Will . I will be doing my first night dive soon .😃👍

Haven't seen Spanish lobsters in at least 20 years . The area around the cape florida lighthouse in Biscayne Bay used to be loaded with them. Thanks for that video capt it really took me back to those gorgeous night dives.

@@KeyWestWaterman I got a bunch of buddies who go down south and do it. I haven't been yet but will soon. We're up in St. Augustine, so the water isn't super clear to up here but we do lots of offshore, nearshore and inshore fishing. Love the videos. Keep up the good work.
Great video as always and very informative. Glad to see William back from his sailboat adventures. You guys be safe and keep up the good work, also it's about time for another commercial trip.
He’s back on the boat already! Haha we had a good time the short time he was here.
😋 Yum 😋 !!!
Def was!!!
Lately started binge watching your videos, awesome content! Couldn’t resist to suggest this for your green curry: try galangal instead of ginger, Thai basil instead of cilantro and a decent amount of green Chilis ;)
Will have to give it a try thank you!
Good job!
Thanks for watching!
I had no idea that Spanish lobster even existed. They look amazing as does the green curry! Curried seafood maybe my favorite meal ever! Thanks for the great content!

I never knew about Spanish lobster . I guess I never saw them when diving in daytime. So cool.
they are good at hiding during the day!

Glad you like it! Thanks for watching!
Nice job on the intro! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Man that looks delicious! I've always found the Spanish lobster hanging upside down in caves during the daytime. And I agree... I think they are a little sweeter than the regular lobsters. Great video! Cheers!
yup! they like the dark spaces! I catch them along during the day too
Nice video captain! 90% of marine life show's at night. I was going to the keys to meet you but got covid and now quarantine 😡 Keep up the good work 😊😊😊🤙🤙🤙🤙🤿🤿🤿🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈
Hope you get well soon and back in the water
it sure does! and that's a bummer hope you're not out for too long!
@@slipperybeastaviationfishingsh Thanks!
@@KeyWestWaterman Thanks!
good job Ive caught a few too
Love them!! Thanks for watching!!!
Never knew about the Spanish lobster, I’ll have to try it next time. Thanks
gotta try them!
U the man !!
haha thanks for watching!
@@KeyWestWaterman I always enjoy your episodes man !
In Jamaica we call them chicken lobsters, I don’t think there is a size limit or bag limit from what I’ve seen in FWC’s website, but obviously don’t take more than you need!
That’s funny! They are delicious and we never do!
Them there spanish lobsters look like they'd make deadly baits for cubera and groupers. Especially at night also.
That'd make a good video too, I reckon
they probably would be to be honest!
I've found diving a night more relaxing. Spanish lobsters are underrated and when it comes to different critters prowling around, very interesting. See many octopuses? I learn a ton from all your vids.
Appreciated the "Never Dive Alone" vid as I have been in a similar situ...always have a float plan, too! Hope someone watching learns and doesn't repeat. Cheers!
it really is very tranquil and not spooky at all! and honestly no I don't see many down here. really do appreciate it! glad you like the vids!
Looks delish! Thank you for showing the difference I’ve never heard of a Spanish lobster until now. I 💕 love lobster I’m pretty much allergic to all seafood at this point but for Maine lobster. Fresh flounder or Maryland Jumbo Lump crab meat i pop my Benadryl and a beer and hope for the best
So glad you enjoyed it! And that is too funny i love it!!!
I didn't know about Spanish lobster until this year and I've gone to the keys every year for 15 years now, I actually saw my first ones in August under the Vaca cut bridge at night
Most people don’t know! Hope you enjoyed the vid!
used to catch the super small spanish lobster just for my 150 gal display tank. had a spot next to a boat ramp in Marathon of all places....less than 5'!!
That would be pretty cool!
thats so cool man, similar to our slipper lobsters, they're like a smaller version of our eastern rock lobster, and tasty as!!! man i would love to try spanish lobster...looks great
Love slipper as well! Rarely see them! But the Spanish sure are yummy
I'm hangry now, just watching this video... In the late 70s I used to scuba dive at night in Angra do Reis bay, Brazil, we caught a lot of scallops and spiny lobsters. A wonderful time!!
Remember to have the hair cut and beard shaved for the ceremony!!
That’s awesome! It really is awesome and night! And no way the miss loves it! Haha
He gwana look like Jesus hisself at the weddin'!
Or maybe the original Aaron
I really enjoy the whole experience of your videos and if it helps your endeavors for me to post and like them I’m happy to be counted as a fan of your passion. I will be praying for you all. Shalom!
Really happy to hear that! And it helps a ton! Thank you so much! 🙏🏻
Way to Go Aaron, great sunset, underwater footage and always come back with at least very nice diners. My RESPECTS to YOU for not shooting the Red Grouper they always so curious and friendly to humans.
They don’t stand a chance! And didn’t need em that bad! Thanks so much for watching!
Congrats on your engagement Aaron! Although I know I’m late since it was your last video.
Thank you!!!
Used to hate Mondays.....not anymore!
Haha happy to hear it!
In all the dives I've made on the bay and ocean side of Marathon I've only seen the Shovelnose.....But I've never done any night dives!!
they hide very well during the day, and the slippers are much more rare than the Spanish in my opinion!
We've seen them in the Keys, but never really messed with them. Guess we are going to have to give them a try.
they are tricky but delicious!
Great vid. Curried lobster looks amazing. Me and a few friends used to night dive in Maine. It was other worldly. One of our rituals was to get to the bottom and turn off the lights. Experience the total blackness, then wave our hands furiously to activate the plankton and create a firefly show.
2 ??s... Do you ever spearfish at night and are sharks a concern after dark?
Haha love it! And not very often. Haven’t done it enough to deal with sharks
Man, I’ve never even heard of a SpanishLobster. That’s probably one of my favorite videos you’ve done. Does the meat taste like a rock shrimp?… Can you catch the other shrimp that come out at night? Awesome Aaron keep it up man!!!
Actually not that you mention it they are similar taste to rock shrimp. Sweet and tender. And I have never tried to catch the shrimp they are very small
Love night diving. Mostly on shipwrecks in Great Lakes. Did a night snorkel years ago in Hawaii. Saw incredible creatures. Ended when a Mako came by. Scared the living Hell outta me. The Spanish Dancer , amazing Ruby Red color, eels & octopus were cool as could be.
jealous! sounds pretty cool would love to swim with a mako!
When I live in marathon we had some really good spanish spots. They are definitely better than a spiny in my opinion also.
I agree!
I’ve just realized I’ve seen you don’t many times, it’s in the private marina close to hogfish
haha yup
@@KeyWestWaterman key west is a truly amazing place it sucks all the apartments going in next to Murray’s though. Keep up the amazing videos
I know all too well about forgetting something. 2 left hand gloves was my most recent blooper!😆
haha!
I’ve always wanted to night dive
Gotta try it!
Cool intro
glad you like it!
I have a place in Marathon and have seen a small lobster that looked like those , just thought it was a juvenile Spiney ,, learned something today thanks ,
happy to hear it! just make sure its Spanish!
That's kind of lobster in the Virgin Islands we call it spotted Lobster it's nice it tastes just like regular Lobster spiny Lobster awesome video
they are delicious!
The knives sticking through the bait board with unprotected edge are a real hazard to guests onboard a boat. You know not to stick your hand under the cutting board but they may not. There are ways of having the knife accessible but the open blade sheathed.
I think it’s funny that’s what you took from the video. Lol no disrespect at all just think it’s interesting what different people focus on. Do appreciate you watching!
Nice guys. You would damn sure win your $20 with because I don’t belong in the ocean at night. I leave that for the critters that do belong there. Lol. 👍
haha!
Cool
thanks for watching!
It’d be a little sketchy to dive at night, therefore I’ll leave it to you, and just watch your videos!
Haha it’s not so bad!
Sick vid as always Capt!! Hey, how them Mercurys treating you?? Have always loved my 2 stroke Mercs... thinking bout going to the 4 stroke Black Beauties!! 🏴☠️🍻🤙
thanks for watching! and very happy with them so far!
Lots of respect for leaving the red Aaron, it's good to see. An unrelated question to this video, but do you use chum in Bahamas or are the sharks a bit more of a problem in your opinion?
I literally never go to the Bahamas. I hear the sharks are worse but not sure if people chum.
@@KeyWestWaterman Ah okay, thanks for the insight anyway
