In jewish tradition there is a tale of a rabbi who asked Elijah to tell him who will be his "neighbor" in heaven. Elijah pointed to a man, who tells the rabbi that he is a comedian, and he uses jokes to bring peoeple together and cheer them up. Robin William was that type of comedian.

I remember that night well. I'm irish so it was around 1am when just before going to sleep I thought I would flick over my Facebook page and saw an American friend shared the announcement of his death. I thought jesus this is another celebrity death hoax. I went and googled his name. Saw it wasn't. My heart broke. I stayed up the rest of the night watching the tributes coming in. we haven't been robbed. Robin was robbed. we selfishly dry geniuses to the point where they have to look for 'magic drugs' to refill that void we as a selfish society creates. We take and take. We spare real feelings instead of dealing with them face to face, hand in hand.
Maybe as a non-American, I have only just started to see his great value. I really liked him as an actor, especially after 'one hour photo" (but also MANY of his other films), but via RUclips I keep on seeing more about/of this amazing man, and realizing how big this loss is. The world will always be divided between people who will feel with people like Robin, the pain he must have suffered, so much, to end his own life, and those who will just condemn him and his suicide, no matter what. To me, it is the clash between good and evil.
He sounded like a very special person, one that went out of his way. Kind, gentle, generous.....I just don't think that all the so called friends have the same personality traits that Robins Williams had. I wound hope that a friend wound notice when someone like Robin was hurting. It had to be very hard to be "ON" all the the time.
His friends and wife and children all knew - and knew he was going for help and probably thought it was helping. Even with the help he sought willingly, he obviously couldn't fight anymore - waited until his wife went to bed. I would say that even if every fan wrote to him, it wouldn't have stopped him. He was the only person who faced his demons. Maybe he beat them. I'm going to believe he did. My husband is probably sitting in the front row and laughing with Robin's amazing humor. My guy had cancer he battled for as long as he could.
God knows everything, his pain, the root sorrow that drove him. I hope he can relax and be himself now. I only met him once early on, very nice man one on one. But my coworkers were there and Robin seemed compelled to start performing. He didn't need to, he was good enough and I liked him without that. I should have told him that "You're good enough just the way you are" Now he's with his mother, John Belushi, Christopher Reeves, Jonathan Winters his mentor and so many others
oh me too. I met him in the early 80's we didn't have what he was looking for in our store, but he came back 2 weeks later anyway. I wasn't working that day so I am not sure why he came back. I'm dying to know. I want to see my parents again too, a guy I dated and truly loved in college, love of my life. I shouldn't have let him get away. Old friends gone too soon...
Why would I be interesting in what Mr. Lipton has to say about the late Robin Williams? He only interviewed him once. I'm aware that it was the famous interview with the highest ratings any "Inside the Actors Studio" episode had ever had, but they weren't friends, not even close colleagues! Lipton's interviews usually consist of the questions like "How was it like to work with her?", "How does it feel to be directed by him?", etc. No wonder this one was so high-rated and considered the best ever by the host himself. And I say this with all due respect to Mr. Lipton and his years of 'service'. But I truly am annoyed by all those people who run in front of the cameras every time somebody famous dies and call themselves their friends, talking about their loss and the world's loss... Where were you when your 'friend' was hurting and suffering so badly? It can't be hidden so well ALL the time, surely not the amount of pain which would make them end it all. I find that postmortem 'friend calling' rather disrespectful. The only three people that I've heard Mr. Williams called his friends were Christopher Reeve, Jack Nicholson and Billy Crystal, nobody else. And just because he was a comedian -friendly, loveable and warm-hearted- doesn't give you the right to adress him by his first name in the media now that he's dead. I hope my English was understandable, 'cause it's not my native language. Peace!
TheGrandOptimist95 I'd trade Justin beibers life for Robin Williams ANY DAY.... it goes without saying.. lol idc what you think about me Im entitled to freedom of speech.. I'm guessing you're a Belieber?
I agree with Zero-I would like it to have been any other "celebrity". That said, depression is a real illness. No one should use a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Who has given more to entertainment? Ms Beiber or the great Mr Williams?
I've heard that the Robin Williams Actors Studio interview ran for five hours, they had to whittle down the broadcast version to two. I wish they'd release the full five hours.
Too say we've been robbed honestly is pretty selfish. We have lost a legend and wonderful person. He made so many people happy and spread so much joy but too say we've been robbed really just makes it selfish and about you.
Of course, now we know (even though is has been more or less ignored) that depression was most likely NOT what did Robin in. It was the fact that he had DEMENTIA. It wasn't the "depression". It wasn't the "Parkinsons". Even if he had not been given an official diagnosis, he had to have been experiencing the symptoms, and just could not talk about it publicly. In addition, Lewy Body Dementia can cause confusion, delusions, and even hallucinations. And finally, there is the fact, which has only BARELY been discussed, is that, not long before his death, he had been prescribed medications which could worsen the dementia. When are we going to wake up to the truth about today's psychoactive pharmaceuticals?
Thank you. Still people seem to think it was depression. I met this beautiful man once in the early 80's when he came into the store I was working. Very nice man. Beautiful blue eyes.
@@MissAstorDancer Oh it was. I did not ask him to perform because I wouldn't want someone doing that to me. But while I rang up his purchase, he started to make silly noises and voices and tell jokes anyway. So my coworkers gathered around. Just about maybe 6 -7 people total in the store. Private performance. Not sure why he felt compelled to do that. Did he want me to smile? Was he used to women throwing themselves at him? Not sure. I kind of wish I'd told him he was good enough just the way he was. I liked him fine without performing. I was told that he came back in a couple of weeks later but I wasn't working that day. We didn't have what he wanted the first time so I'm not sure why he came back. It would have been great to get to know him a little more.Maybe I'll ask him on the other side. But a lot of weird coincidences came after that. I watched one of his movies on my wedding night. And he died on my wedding anniversary while I was going through a divorce. One of his kids is same name as one of mine, and that name was one of my coworkers at that time, unrelated to my kid. I just thought the person was really nice and really smart and liked the name. My other kid born same year one of his movies came out and a main character in the movie is same name as that child. Other names and dates....Just so strange.
Billy Connolly - someone mentioned here that the 2 comics who made him laugh were Robin Williams and Billy Connolly. Just to let you know: Billy Connolly was diagnosed with Parkinson's back in 2013.
Robin went to Scotland to visit Billy every year for his birthday. Sad that Billy has Parkinson's too. I haven't heard anything lately. Is he still around? I think the world would have preferred to know Robin wasn't doing well, and be supportive of him like we were with Patrick Swayze, it would have been less of a shock. And maybe it would have let Robin know how much he was loved.
we always like to share our happiness as it puts us in the limelight but we find it hard to share inner loneliness as we are castigated for it and humiliated so we store it, Robin couldn't keep it going, he lost the will to fight as he felt no one cared enough except for his personal assistant who cared enough to check up on him.
I just wish the world would get educated about depression. A commenter said why would he be depressed? That is so ignorant...that's like saying why does that person choose to get cancer. Dammnit it's not a choice! Depression is a horrible mental disease where the sufferer is incapable of experiencing happiness or joy no matter what! No matter how much money or whatever they have. There is very little effective treatment for depression. The person just goes on feeling the torture until they
Somebody will come out in the future about knowing about Robin having problems about his depression and his diagnosis with parkinson's desease....They won't be able to hold the guilt for too long I would think. I think within a year someone is going to say something about it and how they could have helped and tell the world that they are sorry for not saying anything. Someone knew it...there is always someone who knew and never made an attempt to say something. I hope it burns their brain up with the guilt. They need to come forward
The God I pray to is an Eternity of love, kindness & compassion - Not hate or spite. Robin was in a state of Extreme depression and parkinson's which alters brain chemistry to make you more depressed, To Assume that God is unaware of this means you think god is stupid. Also Why assume that God is powerless to stop any suffering that Robin might be going through now, God is all powerful, And those who say with such certainty who is in hell, where is the proof?!? How is it that these people know what happens when we die? why aren't they rich? why aren't they selling dvd's of the afterlife? STOP thinking that you how God treats each soul that passes away! Instead of looking at the manner of ones death, look at how they lived their life! P.S. God is Love - not hate!
He still had a choice to get help and he chose to do suicide. He can only blame himself. When you chose to handle things yourself and do not ask of the Father..then you are doomed to fail in life. Without God you had no life, without God you have no passage to the kingdom, and without his help you lose in the game of life. God is not hate at all. He gives us the choice to choose him for guidance or choose to make your own decisions in life. He knows how survive and wants to help but you got to be humble and let him in. Don't be prideful it will kill anyone. PRIDE...another thing that will crush a human's inter self. Humble yourself and quit being selfish
BBPosition Raise Actually, when you are in that state of severe DEEP depression, you Don't have a choice, You could be that your whole family has died,OR that you just got 45 million dollars, when you on that state of depression both have the same impact, you're numb, and your mind is clouded and altered. if someone with Alzheimer's kills themselves while thinking they are cutting their nails, are they punished? I believe GOD is the Only entity capable of knowing what happens to each soul after it passes over, it's Vain to assume WE know which souls god will forgive or not. Hang on... Isn't vanity on some sort of list somewhere? nah maybe not.
Beautiful tribute by the majestic James Lipton! BTW his wife says that he had early Parkinson's, so that must have put extra pressure on him on top of everything else. To all you morons who judge Robin William's actions, may I ask you to look in your own closet first, before trying to clean out other peoples.
A good man passed... The fact that people are talking about petty life differences and all this trash about god and this and that is honestly disrespectful and pointless no one is changing anothers opinion...so please shut up... People get a life this video isn't titled "Lets talk shit on other people's lives" Please the petty shit is more then annoying so all of you shut up and have some fucking respect shit its not hard. Robin Williams was a good man and no matter if he killed himself or he died from something else is none of your concern the fact is we lost a great man that brought joy to millions of people of all races, genders, and religions and at the sacrifice of his own happiness he went above and beyond all i ask is all of you idiots be respectful.
I think Robin put his faith in Christ - he investigated that in rehab. If so, death is conquered and Robin lives on in heaven. Those of you who discover God's love will see him again. We are made in God's image - so Robin and all of us reflect God's character in some way. His talent and humor was a gift from God that he shared with the world. I know he's free in heaven and is whole again.
Ok first of all, the men that wrote the bible did not "create God". They wrote the bible based on experiences that they had with Jesus Christ and what he taught them. If you commit suicide there is a good chance hell is your destination because the bible strictly states that harming yourself is as bad as killing your neighbor. It's a mortal sin. However, the moment you perish is the moment God judges you. That is when you decide whether you love God or not. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't act accordingly while you are alive. Anyway, going to hell strictly depends on how you are as a person and if you acted according to God or not. And those of you guys saying that us Catholics can't make these so called by you "inappropriate" comments, have you ever heard of the 1rst amendment? You should check it out.
Do you have any vices? Do you eat McDonald's? Do you drink Coke/Pepsi/Red Bull/ Rockstar/etc.? Indulging in those (and many other similar vices) are a form of slow suicide. Indulging in those are, therefore, mortal sins. Put your stones away. They are not useful to your life.
If the men that wrote the bible did not create god then ask yourself where did all the other 3000 gods and goddesses people have worshipped over the centuries come from? Find the list and the beliefs on www.godchecker.com As for the book you quote from, here is some information you should check out about it`s creators. testament.www.bibliotecapleyades.net/biblianazar/esp_biblianazar_40.htm
Max Salazar -- The oral Torah was around long before Jesus was born. He also believed in what he was taught because he was a Jew and studied Torah as a Jew and died because he was a Jew. It was long after Jesus died by the ignorance of yet more Jew haters that the Jews who wanted to believe that Jesus was god that they wrote the New Testament - and then let the killings begin of Jews who refused to convert! Oh, pagans, too, got in on that Christian 'love' ... There was no Christian bible during the life of Jesus, who would never have followed that anyway!
Jen Susan Exactly Jen. Why can`t the feeble minded just say "I don`t know how the universe was created" ,as we do and wonder. than believe some fairy tale created and written by ignorant goat herders 3500 years ago. Mythology is fine , which is what it is, but to put it into historical context and insist it is true is infantile.

R.I.P.
*RIP* Funny guy and may your family and friends have peace and love.U will be missed.
Good Bye Robin Williams. Seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind. Thank you Robin, thanks for the memories. RIP
RIP sweet man♡
'God is laughing very very hard. We cry, God laughs'...(4:27)
God knows everything, his pain, the root sorrow that drove him. I hope he can relax and be himself now. I only met him once early on, very nice man one on one. But my coworkers were there and Robin seemed compelled to start performing. He didn't need to, he was good enough and I liked him without that. I should have told him that "You're good enough just the way you are"
Now he's with his mother, John Belushi, Christopher Reeves, Jonathan Winters his mentor and so many others
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.
It would add to my joy to see Robin in Heaven !!
I feel very sad that he is gone.
Peace!
I Love this man work R.I.P Robin William
Why couldn't it have been Justin Beiber )':
He is wishing Robin Williams to come back to life
MarcLloydZ He's also wanting the death of someone else as a return, still doesn't make him look better.
TheGrandOptimist95 I'd trade Justin beibers life for Robin Williams ANY DAY.... it goes without saying.. lol idc what you think about me Im entitled to freedom of speech.. I'm guessing you're a Belieber?
True:-(
I agree with Zero-I would like it to have been any other "celebrity". That said, depression is a real illness. No one should use a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Who has given more to entertainment? Ms Beiber or the great Mr Williams?
Eloquently put, Mr. Lipton.
I've heard that the Robin Williams Actors Studio interview ran for five hours, they had to whittle down the broadcast version to two. I wish they'd release the full five hours.
2 months already :( :( Robin will be dearly missed.
@@recoveringsoul755 Oh! That must have been a peak experience, meeting Robin!
I hope James and Robin had another good conversations on the great couch in the sky.
she is right I feel robbed , i grew up loving his comedy ....I know i will never see someone like him in my lifetime
I hope I have someone who can say the same type of things about me when I die just like how James talks about Robin.
Carry on your Wayward Robin there peace when you are done lay your weary head to rest don't you cry no more.
From Carry on my wayward son by: Kansas
Where were these people who are singing his praises at BEFORE he died? I am not getting this at all.
So bummed
That was Beautiful.
It should of been me *cry* plz god bring him back *cry*
Billy Connolly - someone mentioned here that the 2 comics who made him laugh were Robin Williams and Billy Connolly.
Just to let you know: Billy Connolly was diagnosed with Parkinson's back in 2013.
Robin went to Scotland to visit Billy every year for his birthday. Sad that Billy has Parkinson's too. I haven't heard anything lately. Is he still around? I think the world would have preferred to know Robin wasn't doing well, and be supportive of him like we were with Patrick Swayze, it would have been less of a shock. And maybe it would have let Robin know how much he was loved.
we always like to share our happiness as it puts us in the limelight but we find it hard to share inner loneliness as we are castigated for it and humiliated so we store it, Robin couldn't keep it going, he lost the will to fight as he felt no one cared enough except for his personal assistant who cared enough to check up on him.
it was Dementia. And a true friend will listen and love you even in times of hardship
R.I.P
Robin Williams never forgten rip
james lipton murdered him with his shallowness
RIP:(
A good interviewer knows when to get out of the way - this is a great example of when to be quiet. Sheesh
The person just goes on feeling the torture until they
Robin, love the movie 'Der Club der ... Dichter'. Those teacher we need. Bye
God forgive me... He should have kept doing whatever it was that kept him alive (substance wise) until the day his heart blew up on it's own. -RIP- RW
If Robin Williams is in hell, no one is going to heaven.
Beautiful tribute by the majestic James Lipton! BTW his wife says that he had early Parkinson's, so that must have put extra pressure on him on top of everything else. To all you morons who judge Robin William's actions, may I ask you to look in your own closet first, before trying to clean out other peoples.
The devil took him.....put the blame where it lies!
Robin Williams was a good man and no matter if he killed himself or he died from something else is none of your concern the fact is we lost a great man that brought joy to millions of people of all races, genders, and religions and at the sacrifice of his own happiness he went above and beyond all i ask is all of you idiots be respectful.
you worded this perfectly!! ^5!! MY COMMENT IS THE SAME AS YOURS!!
I know he's free in heaven and is whole again.
genius always has a price :(
sigo triste
Things aren't what they appear
Find the list and the beliefs on www.godchecker.com
As for the book you quote from, here is some information you should check out about it`s creators. testament.www.bibliotecapleyades.net/biblianazar/esp_biblianazar_40.htm
The bible is a pathetic attempt to try and make sense of the universe and all that's in it. It has no relevance in today's world. Open your eyes.
Jen Susan
Exactly Jen. Why can`t the feeble minded just say "I don`t know how the universe was created" ,as we do and wonder. than believe some fairy tale created and written by ignorant goat herders 3500 years ago. Mythology is fine , which is what it is, but to put it into historical context and insist it is true is infantile.
xoxox heather.....jesus is the only way,and we all so suffer in many different ways,
No disrespect to Robin, but who the fuck put an empty Gatorade bottle out there? lol WTF!
why is there a gatorade bottle with all those nice flowers and memorobillia? some crackhead leave a half bottle of cognac or something?
@ty sell ...LOL

Justin Bieber? Seriously. Doesn't even deserve a comment.
