TSN's Craig Button has the comp for Schaefer is Drew Doughty and for Martone as a mix of Corry Perry & the Tkachuk brothers. Although I really want Schaefer because I think he is that #1 D we need if we leave this draft with either I will be happy.

Shrks at time had several sick centers,
    Jumbo
    Marleau
    Pavelski
    Couture
Can never have too many centers. I think Misa is more of a Grier guy. If sharks can’t get Schaefer, a big skilled guy like Martone playing with Celebrini is pretty mouth watering.

Wasn’t Marleau a wing his whole career

@ no started as center but ended up playing wing a ton. Point is he could do both, which is valuable.

Once again, I loved your podcast and observations! Spot on! I liked how you broke down the acquisition and trade. Informing us of the AHL veteran rule really clarifies why the Cuda made the move they did. It also makes sense to me to insulate the Cuda from the Sharks move that they potentially make at the TDL.
One question for you. Does this mean that there is more a definite chance that they make some moves, when they made this claim off of waivers? And does it lean more to Sturm getting moved as the acquired player is a bottom six forward?

Wouldn’t be surprised if they make an AHL deal ahead of the deadline

Misa is going to look good in Teal

Bob McKenzie also used to be the editor of The Hockey News.
    -----------
My buddy's team is Chicago and he says they have a lot of strong defensive prospects (as many as the Sharks have forwards), so he's really hoping the Hawks take Hagens.
I think (1) Schaefer would be my top choice for the Sharks and (2) Misa as my second.
    (3) Martone, (4) Hagens and (5) McQueen round out my top five.
    -------------
I'd guess the final standings will be:
    31 - Chicago
    32 - San Jose
There is a lottery for the 1st pick, and if you don't win it then a lottery for the 2nd overall pick.
Which means at worst a team can move down two positions. So the worst two teams are absolutely guaranteed at least a top four pick, in a draft where the top four are far ahead of the rest of the pack.

The key for sharks is the next few months and Griers plans for the off-season and the teams future!
If they aren’t in love with Walman and Dickinson as the future 1-2 at LD or with Mukhamadullin Cagnioni and Thrun fighting for 3rd pair/ HS then Schaefer seems very appealing.
If sharks are feeling like they need size and skill to play on Celebrini’s line and are hesitant to spend big in the off-season maybe Martone is the ideal fit.
If they don’t see Smith as a true center then maybe the look at Hagens/ Misa to fill the 2nd C and move Smith to RW.
Sharks likely pick top 3 and have options! Just depends on how Grier envisions this team going forward and what he feels are positions he can fill in FA vs what he feels he needs to draft.

Just wanted to put in a note on the top four prospects. Here is how I believe the Sharks rank the top four:
    1) Schaefer (Duh!)
    2) Misa - My reasoning is that: 1 - He is a center and most NHL franchises place a higher value on the center position than they do the wing position (Martone), 2 - It is easier to move a center to the wing position than it is to move a wing to the center position if needed during their development, 3 - Of the remaining three, he might have the most complete game, 4 - Speed kills and Misa has A LOT OF IT, 6 - He is (of the remaining three) the most NHL ready prospect and it would not surprise me, that, if he is drafted by the Sharks he makes the opening night roster as a bottom six forward.
    3) Hagens - A) He is a center and developed the same way Smith has, and we all know how GMMG likes the Boston prospect pipeline, B) He is a center (look to my notes on centers with Misa)
    4) Frondell - Before his injuries and some results of this, his stock was hurt and thus his rankings in the scouting rankings went down quite a bit, but, Bob Mckenzie still has hi ranked fifth. Once he is playing more consecutive games he will show (IMO) what the scouts noted before his injury:
Dobber Prospects: ... There are very real NHL traits combined with an NHL frame ... Frondell can play a mature style game in both ends, boasts a strong shot, and plays with a physical edge.
With Frondell being a center and a more mature game and his more physical play, it would not surprise me if he is ranked above Martone as (IMO) GMMG values players with more mature and complete games above players that are boom or bust.
    5) Martone - A very good power forward that has major issues playing on the defensive end. He is also a winger, and, IMO, is valued less because of my thoughts on centers. He is very much of a boom or bust player. This is something, IMO, teams do not take a swing on with the fourth overall pick.
I am just a fan and those are my thoughts. What might you all say?

Misa/Schaefer, no other way about it

Frondell over Eklund makes zero sense to me, playing in the same league and same team, Eklund has been so much better.

Commenting mostly for the algorithm, but I'm going to poke fun at you a bit. Desnoyers is a French pronunciation (deh-NOI-ay). Also, at 15:10 I'm pretty sure you meant the beginning of the second round, not the beginning of the first round.
