    I used to ride Metra Electric daily out of Richton Park as a teenager. Back then I was a rail buff before I even knew the term. I was stealing track warrants out of the box at Blue Island and didn't know what the hell I was reading👍🏽 Now as an adult, who just so happens to be a locomotive engineer, it's a nice trip back to my youth. I finally understand why the bell was rung so frequently (passing standing equipment or platforms on an adjacent track, etc). And to see that some stations have finally been redone, like Roosevelt Rd. That station house looked ready to collapse back in 2004 when I was still riding. A perfect scene for a horror movie😅. Thanks for the footage.

      @intrepidfox37 That’s awesome! What railroad are you an engineer for? Last question, my dream job is to eventually become a locomotive engineer & was wondering what’s the best route to get into the railroad?

    Nice work! Signals are easy to see, which I like. The gray day lends atmosphere.

    I ride the Electric Line from Flossmoor to Randolph. The wind-up electric sound is depressingly eerie. The ride from Hazel Crest through the south side is like a documentary on poverty.

    Excellent video, please lay out more of these videos. Please, if possible, for Christmas to make a video with a snowy landscape. Christmas spirit or Christmas Spirit. (I use the Google translator, sorry for grammatical errors if they exist)

    Well, it looks like most, if not all, of the old '71-'72 highliner electrics are gone. Yep.....another part of my youth has disappeared. :( At 16:37, is the 75th/South Chicago station (also called 75th / Grand Crossing). I used to take the Blue Island local from that station to the Loop many a day.

    Metra is a funny commuter rail, where the electrified lines are basically more modern with the ADA standards while the non-electrified lines aren't ADA.

    So I got Stuck in downtown because I was told They will say something on the train but she never did so I was assuming The next stop would be blue island But she said we already Passed your stop Your going to Have to Go back to Chicago And this was at like 9 or 10 I was so mad. It's a long story but I just don't want to make that mistake again, so Go to blue island Your suppose to transfer at kenningston and jump on another train that goes to blue island ?!

      Locals to Kensington continue to Blue Island. University Park trains go express at Kensington.

    Nice video. Not everyone is familiar with Metra so you should go by official station names. Randolph Street station is listed as Millennium Station on all maps.

    • @PositionLight

      +brian kettle Warn people the train is moving without using the very loud horn.

    • @GandSAfan
      @GandSAfan 8 лет назад +2

      Some towns and communities that have heavier rail traffic, have local 'No Train Horn' ordinances for rail crossings...so the bells have to substitute for the horns.
