There's a story about when Paul's marriage to Heather Mills was falling apart - she'd apparently had a meltdown that he'd not given her 'good enough' birthday presents. A shaken Paul said to a friend 'Linda would have been happy with a bunch of flowers picked from the garden', and you just know she would have.
I just read that even after their divorce he spent 20.000 dollars on gifts for her, and wrote her happy birthday "despite what happened". I hope she's happy...

I myself would hardly call it the best if not one of the darkest, since Paul slipped into a binge-drinking depression (of which Linda had a hard time dealing with, of course) around the time the Beatles broke up. But all that was channeled into the McCartney and Ram albums, so I guess it worked out for the sake of his art.

Paul had said about their marriage that they were just boyfriend and girl friend who had babies. They never hesitated to have a good time. One of my favourite real-life love stories and a couple. They will definitely meet again and continue their love story.
