This is easily the most repetitive yet engaging show I follow. It's really the same thing every time, but there is always the excitement of the little differences. Super cool!
I love Yummy Teriyaki. The neighborhood is Lower Queen Anne. Don't let anyone tell you it's Uptown. That's the name of a theater in the neighborhood. It doesn't change the name of the whole neighborhood. You can order extra charred if that's your thing.
The people in the neighborhood want it called Uptown. They even have their own little lobbyist group to get the name corrected to "Uptown". The theater you talk about is called the Uptown Theater because that was the original name of the neighborhood. However, back in the day there was a time when Seattle wasn't so wealthy and that area wanted to associate itself with prettier, snootier, Queen Anne so it pushed to go by Lower Queen Anne. Now that it's become older, more refined, and yes, a bit wealthier, it has decided to take back its old name and once again go by Uptown. You should respect its wishes. It's embarrassed that it ever went through that Lower Queen Anne phase.
@@sundarpichai940 That's not true at all. First, the residents of the neighborhood weren't calling for the name change. A few businesses were and I suspect that was for marketing purposes. City Council member Lewis, who proposed the change to the council, only gave marketing reasons for the change. Second, the neighborhood was never widely called Uptown, then changed to LQA. You try to make it sound like we're somehow snobs for calling it QA. That's just you playing games. There are some stories that originally David Denny called the area Potlach Meadows, but I can't verify that. Third, the Kroll Atlas of King County 1912 page 10 covers the eastern half of LQA and clearly labels that Queen Anne. I find no historical map calling the area Uptown. In addition, the official 1962 Seattle World's Fair Guidebook on page 73 places the Space Needle in Queen Anne. So no, this isn't Uptown and never was until form marketing types decided they had to change the name.
I went to "I love teriyaki" during my visit to Seattle based on your videos and I can confirm that the food was incredible. Everything was perfect down to the rice, we were only in town for a couple of days but ate there twice.
@Woozlewuzzleable He's just a dude getting lunch. No one recognizes him and even if they did, it's not like they can scramble the kitchen to make a better styrofoam box of teriyaki. That's just silly.
Each time you held a bit of food close to the camera, my mouth started watering and I had to fight the urge to immediately buy a plane ticket to Seattle. Looks so good!
This is blowing my mind, I live two blocks up the hill from here in Lower Queen Anne and switched over to nearby TeriKing because I wasn’t having good luck at Yummy. But that sure looks legit. Will try it again!
okay I loved the spicy chicken teri w/gyoza & eggrolls that I just had! My bad experiences were five years ago, pre-pandemic. I'm so happy that they're so good! Well, maybe I'll have to try a few more times just to be sure. 😂
We LOVE the Metropolitan Market and every time we visit the Seattle/Tacoma area we make sure to book a place near one. The quality is hard to beat in the US unless you go to a top tier farmers' market. Next time we'll be sure to hit Yummy T as we really like the Queen Anne neighborhood.
I miss living in downtown Seattle so much! I loved living there in the late 90's through October 2001. Believe it or not, 25 years ago, my rent at the Vermont Inn at 4th & Clay was $500!!! Sadly, you couldn't even rent a cardboard box on the sidewalk for that price these days.
I haven’t been in a few years (not in that neck of the woods as much these days), but Yummy T was a top choice whenever I was in the neighborhood. Their salmon teriyaki was particularly good.
i love how like, 3 days ago i said to myself "I havent seen kenji eat teriyaki in awhile..." and then this pops up. You're a real one, Kenji. To be honest, though - $16.99 feels pricey. I'm looking forward to that real bargain deal I know we're all hunting for.
I easily get three meals out of most teriyaki orders for myself. It tends to be a lot of chicken and rice, and a third of the portion will fill you up fast. So it's really more like $5-$6 a meal.
@@jadams1791 Oof. The OG Toshi's were good. Tried my first teriyaki at the Bellevue location in the mid 80s (when it was all about the skewers). All the other independent shops were terrible, and even some of the OGs went downhill. Only Toshi's I'd consider today would be Mill Creek, where Toshi still cooks 4 days a week. Since he's in the area a lot, I hope he gets to try Teriyaki Time... it's right across from Tian Fu.
'Let me show you a close up' RUDE 😭😭😭 I did not subscribe for this abuse. My mouth is literally watering like 5000 miles away 😅 Oh my dear lord this looks perfect 🥲
Seattle is trash, nobody wants good clean food here…. Been in the city 4 years.. I eat way better in the northeast , with local farms providing the food, for way cheaper
we’re so back
Yassss
WE ARE SO BACK
I had thought it was over
I have never had so much anticipation to see a guy eat teriyaki again
glad to see you back in the teriyaki dimension after your brief excursion to the beef dimension

LQA or Uptown? ....One of Seattle's great controversies that no one actually cares about.

Watching this series brings immense joy. Thank you for sharing and looking forward to many more!! ML
Glad to see it's back. I was just in Seattle for the first time a few weeks ago and hit up Okinawa near the aquarium because of this series
This is seriously confirming my opinion. I love Yummy Teriyaki. My most frequently visited.
This is my favorite series
Hey Kenji, thanks for the update... just felt so much anger and hurt since you know when, this was nice to see when I needed it.
I went to "I love teriyaki" during my visit to Seattle based on your videos and I can confirm that the food was incredible. Everything was perfect down to the rice, we were only in town for a couple of days but ate there twice.
I love these reviews, they really help me learn what to look for in really well prepared dishes. Thanks!
Oooh man that face on the first bite said it all
That chicken looks perfect and it's only 2.9 on Yelp, you can't always trust Yelp.
Hit or miss. Depends on when you go, like most short order places. Who is cooking and how much do they care at that particular moment.
@@thomasw178 True and if they recognize him it will probably be better quality than usual.

Hell yeah more teriyaki with Kenji 😊
Each time you held a bit of food close to the camera, my mouth started watering and I had to fight the urge to immediately buy a plane ticket to Seattle. Looks so good!
Looks like a perfect meal....on my list for my next trip to Seattle!
Been waiting forever and happy to be back.
Yummy is one of my favs
Nice to see you back on the teriyaki trail !
Yay!
I actually stumbled upon Yummy Teriyaki back in July or August: it was a hot day, I was sweating like a pig, but the teriyaki WAS delicious.
Love to watch these even tho ive never had teriyaki
That's my local they are awesome. Great place to visit for tourist that go to the Seattle Center or Climate Pledge.
So glad you’re back at this! We will be up there this summer and we have been mapping your choices!
I so look forward to these reviews
Never thought this would return
It'd be PERFECT if Kenji ended this series with his own recipe and cooked it! As a former Seattleite, I miss it.
Just YES
You picked a good one to come back with.
Yummy Teriyaki is my go to spot. I'm glad Kenji liked it
Thanks for doing Queen Anne! Glad it was so good.
The name of this channel threw me for such a loop I started questionig whether I ever actually knew your last name. Well played
thank god finally
Ooh I'm so happy I thought you had stopped!!
I know what I'm having for dinner! Thanks brother!
HECK YEAH!
Whenever you’re up in Mill Creek to try Toshi’s I also suggest trying Solid Teriyaki which is my family’s go to spot
Toshi's is really good, but I always find myself wanting it when they're closed. Place is only open 28 hours/wk.
Hitting us with a go-pro cooking vid *and* now teriyaki reviews are back on? From one of your non-binary pals, thank you Kenji!
I'm visiting Seattle in January and I'm looking forward to reviewing your tour to figure out what I'll get :)

I agree - used to visit my daughter who lived on Queen Anne. ❤
when the world needed him most he returned 🤲

I actually rent my spare room in queen anne for that right now. I wasn't using it and didn't want to gouge anyone.
@@benelson12, wow! You're wonderful for doing that!
Yayyy more teriyaki
Good to know, it's right in my neighborhood!
My go to teriyaki spot gettin the love!
I used to live a couple blocks from Yummy Teriyaki and it was a staple. Excellent yakisoba too 👍

It may not be Seattle, but I highly recommend trying Teriyaki Time in Factoria. Been going there for over 20 years.

Hey Kenji
Would you recommend a specific brand of teriyaki sauce/marinade ?

Used to live a block away from this place, it always gave me bad vibes. You would always smell smoke walking by. I must try it now
Right? I had that same feeling! Walked by it for years. I just had some amazing teriyaki though.
Still like spicy chicken from bento world the most 🔥

This place looks delicious.
You are in Lower Queen Anne, aka Uptown.
we are back
Wild to me there is not a teriyaki cooking video on Alt. But I am glad to have these back!
Check out Teriyaki First in Crown Hill!
Kenji, can you post a video on how you sharpen your Chinese cleaver?
Oh. Hey Kenji. How are things?
Feeling peckish for teriyaki now. If only this place wasn’t so far away (15 million metres) 😢
Man, eating all the teriyaki chicken in Seattle… you’re gonna eat a lot of bad/mid teriyaki just to find a few good ones. 😂
Plz do an Eastside Teri review…plz plz plz
Love kenji. I will never stop hating when he speaks WHILE CHEWING FOOD.
