I first had chargrilled oysters in 2008 at Drago's in New Orleans and was forever hooked. I make them on my own several times per year as a treat. It's easy, just slap lots of garlic butter down and then a combination of asiago and Pecorino Romano cheeses and grill them on the BBQ. Squeeze of lemon and/or hot sauce optional. They're fabulous!
I discovered New Orleans 45 years ago as well as ACME . New Orleans is a Top 5 for food in the world. I've eat in all over and the diversity and deep of flavors is remarkable. Welcome to the Club J.L.
My husband and I just got back from our trip to NO literally a couple days ago and Acme hands down had the BEST chargrilled oysters. Ironically we sat exactly where you two are and had the same server. He was so great. I tried the chargrilled oysters at Felix’s, Mr. Ed’s Creole Oyster House (think that’s the name) and Acme. Acme won by a landslide. Our server told me his favorite hot sauce was the Chipotle tobacco variety so I tried that and of course the original; the original won for me but I liked them with both. I can not wait to get back to NO just for the food and vibes. It is truly a foodie paradise!
I can tell that wife really enjoyed those oysters! She's very convincing, I think she's very selective so when she says it's good like that, I believe it's really good. They do look special, really.
JL Acme oyster house been around for quite some time on of the best restaurant in New Orleans the oysters down here make a difference they are wild caught not like those farm oysters fat and juicy with great taste, and Tabasco Sauce is made 2 hours from New Orleans in Avery Island, Louisiana they have tours you can take a very nice place they have a small wildlife park there with deer and etc. it's worth the drive Tabasco Sauce is sold in 135 different countries they quite a number of flavors tks for the video very nice
The way ur wife was eating those oysters tells us that those oysters are oystering!! JL my brotha you work hard um proud of you. When your wife says... "it's REALLY good." I believe her. Get some T-shirts made with that on it⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
West Philadelphia Born n raised!!!! We went there when we went to see the Eagles play the Saints when we had McNabb,went2 the Acme Oyster house not fancy but great food when we're coming out of the restaurant the line was around the Corner!!!
My mom family is from New Orleans and she taught me how to cook and if someone that can cook is from New Orleans you throwing down in the kitchen Like I do. Grateful for my roots. Love this Video!!!! Food looks Scrumptious!!!!!
I went to Neyow’s by myself and got tore up off that punch lol. The food was so good. I ate so much. This is the place that sold me on Chargrilled oysters. The staff kept me company. I had the best time.
I went to New Orleans in 2010 for the Essence music festival and even though I enjoyed it I said I would never go again because it was Antartica cold in the building. The one thing I regretted was not being able to experience the local culture and food. You have just decided where my next cruise port will be leaving from. When I cruise I like to spend a couple of days or more in the port city and from this video I know exactly where I will be going. Thank you so much.
Nice that you guys got to spend some time in New Orleans to explore. Your wife looks beautiful and cute in that pants suit, all ready for business like you said. The food looks amazing !! I've never had grilled oyster's like that, only raw and the Chinese steamed version. Have fun exploring the world of foods over there !! ❤
I never eat seafood and had one of those a few years back and they are amazing lol. NOLA is my favorite city in the US by far. So much culture, amazing food, history and always a good party!
The line to get into Acme was too long of a wait when I was there. Felix's across the street did not disappoint. More of a laid-back atmosphere, but the oysters were delicious. And get the spicy bloody mary!
new orleans native my whole life, happy 2 see u come down here and get to enjoy the food culture down here. definitely gotta dig a lil deeper for local spots next time instead of the tourist traps, but since it was your first time down here so you ain't know no better haha
I agree with JL 100%. NOLA is one of the best food cities in the world! Went there in February and had a great time. The food was the best. Those char-grilled oysters are 🔥. I personally like Mr. Ed's.
Wife was like “KRYSTAL??” 😂 I heard it all in her voice…you gone have to be faster with what and who Krystal is😂😂…they could have melted the cheese a more on that Krystal slider lol
Wifey is gorgeous! New Orleans has amazing food. It would be great if you could do more videos where you get into the kitchen and show the process too. ❤
Mr Ed's is nice also for grilled oysters. Cooter Browns for fresh oysters! Popeyes in NO is different than Popeyes anywhere else! Philly born and raised, best two cities for sandwiches Philly and New Orleans. Love your content!
OH JL!!! The oysters look so beautiful.... I've had some amazing oysters in Philly LMNO restaurant and the Moshulo on Penns Landing. This video took them to another level.
My favorite oyster spot period. I live in baton rouge and go to our local acme all the time. I know the cooks . They have 2 off the menu styles called dock style and ponchatrain that are even better than the regular chargrilled, it's the only way I get them now. They know as soon as I sit at the bar what I want. But I heard Felix's is pretty good as well as I've been to drago's . No place for good food like Louisiana not just new Orleans ,baton rouge and Lafayette areas have great spots as well.
Ya'll hittin' alL my Southern cookin' spots, so far!! 🤩P.S. We don't "think" our food is the best, we KNOW (like the rest of the planet) that is IS the BESTEST (there's no comparison)!!!
Buddy, thanks for the review. I'm heading to NOLA for the first time in June so I'm eager to follow your reviews! Crystals here aren't worth the money. They are nothing more than white castles with mustard, but they are expensive! I got two little cheeseburger sliders when I first moved down this way and they came to 4.74 with tax! Forget that! Keep up the great work.
Big dawg, love your videos. Keep m a foodie myself and me and my girl go to New Orleans just to eat several times a year. Y’all reactions were very genuine and I love it. Umma put you on game though, Acme is tourist trap. The operative term is “CHAR” in chargrilled oysters. Those junts are light skin. Try Corner Oyster House or Neyow’s. Even Dragos on a good day. Acme would be last on my list. But glad y’all enjoyed.
As a Nashvillian who grew up on White Castle and Krystals, i gotta give it to white castles. However, Krystal offers some good breakfast! If you get a chance, the next time you come back down south, you gotta try their breakfast scrambler.
I’ve never personally been to New Orleans, but the food looks really good there. Hopefully one day I’ll get down that way. I’m in South Carolina so yeah thanks for sharing.😊
I’m from Atlanta…I have never had chargrilled oysters in my life…I just came back from a guys trip to New Orleans…with my father and brother yesterday…my brother said the only place he had to go on the trip no matter what…was this place…I can assure ANYONE…those chargrilled oysters are a LIFE CHANGING experience…that Tobasco makes it even better! We ate there 6/21/24…
New Orleans definitely one of the best food destinations on this green Earth!
Most definitely! Sorry that I missed them. 😅

Louisiana hot sauce is made nearby as well. I drive trucks and have hauled both before but I like the Tabasco plant they give us drivers free samples.

Their Po-Boys are out of this world. Great choice.
Nice to see ACME still delicious oysters and Po Boys. We visited in 2008 in support after Katrina. I don't think I had a bad meal in New Orleans.
Dragos for the oysters. Not even a question.

Such, a great Experience that you had right over there at that Restaurant place. 😋🍽😋🍽
Great review, I think the second place looked like it had more seasoning and the bigger oysters 🦪 either way, you had us salivating 🤤
I’m definitely trying Acme! Now, Krystal’s was a late night buzzed after bar stop in my 20s in Augusta GA
I’ve never personally been to New Orleans, but the food looks really good there. Hopefully one day I’ll get down that way. I’m in South Carolina so yeah thanks for sharing.😊
Take it from a local, Drago's is the place to get chargrilled oysters. Theyre the originator
The grits go with the Fish 🐠 and Shirmp 🍤Po'Boy.
Those Oysters are Fire! Went last Summer and my cousin who didn’t like oysters became a fan. 😂
You should do some bonus vids bro. Thanks for these heads up in other cities and states
