    Regarding stone: many buildings of actual Glasgow were built with red sandstone, which looks like but isn't brick

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  3 года назад +3

      ah intersring! they should have mentioned that in the rules!

    • @theSolemnBard
      @theSolemnBard 3 года назад +2

      They only barely changed it to say "stone" after someone mentioned it on BGG. Mandela even lived in a sandstone building and he thought it was brick too!

    16:29 About building the shop early: "The all Jen has to do is surround it on ALL sides and suddenly it's not 5 points anymore".
    Jen would only have to build ONE tile to the right or below to diminish the 5 extra points.
    17:55 Explaining the increasing gold cost for multiple builds: "The first time you use gold to do a multiple build, you have to spend 1 gold, the second one you got to spend 2, then 3, ...". True, but you never can build more than 3 times in one turn. If you want to build a 4th tile in the same turn, you need at least 6 gold and you only have space for 3 in your storehouse.
    22:35 Jen just build the shop. She's confident to get the 5 extra points "because there's nothing I can do, and the closest thing I can build is" on the other side of the rondel. Well, if Rahdo just refilled the architect space and a park or a certain factory comes out, he could build that to the right of the shop.
    26:14 "I've got more spaces to build tenements here, while Jen is shrunken into this corner". Nope. Jen also can build tenements on "Richard's" spaces, because you can build anywhere you like. Sure, building tenements there would level out VP for both players. But more important it prevents Richard to score more points with tenements.

      note added for the first thing you said
      The 2nd timestamp, Richard stops at 3 and even goes further to say "gets progressively more expensive making it more than impossible to make multiple builds" meaning it's hard and expensive to make one or 2... making 3 is extremely hard, and he never said it was possible to make 4 or more builds, so I don't understand your comment for that timestamp, he never said you could build 4 or more times, just that it gets progressively more expensive to do extra builds by paying gold
      Regarding the 3rd note, I didn't say anything in the Klingon subtitles because I had already mentioned before that he would keep forgetting to replenish the buildings and do them later, in that case he did it just a few seconds after, before he decided where he would move to, so, obviously, there's no need to make that note because he did replenish the Architect and the tile that came out is one that he can't build so what he said a few seconds before is correct
      As for the 4th thing you mention, Richard was obviously talking about the growth potential for points of the initial Tenement that Jen placed, he wasn't talking about points she could score or deny Richard scoring by placing the other tenements in other places in the grid.
      So, from everything that you said, I will only make a note for the 1st timestamp. cheers

      @Paulo Renato About my second comment, some more explanation [with more comments]. He said: the first time you use gold you have to spend one gold [to build a second tile, spending one of your max 3 gold]. The second time 2 gold [to build your third tile with your 2nd and 3rd of max 3 gold]. Then 3...
      That's where he goes wrong. You can't spend another 3 gold if you have nothing left.

      @@reneraps6313 you could have more things because when you build you can activate factories, so in each build he could be activating things that would give him gold back for example (don't know if there are any).
      either way, I think it's clear that what he was trying to explain is that each additional build will have an increase in gold to be paid, not that it would be 1 gold for each additional build, that's what important in that passage and that's what he's trying to explain there... obviously you are limited to the amount of gold you have and that you can store

      @@PauloRenato23 Oeps. You are right. Never looked at the factories. There is one factory that produces gold, and there is one factory that can convert steel into gold. You also could have the whisky barrel. So it is possible (and extremely hard) to build more than 3 buildings on your turn.

    At 10:05 you say Jen can’t build the statue but she could stop by the conversions place and turn one of her steel into gold so technically she could. Another great video Rahdo, but man watching your videos is expensive!
    Edit; never mind 😂

    Crack open Nova Luna and use discs to identify building control (lazy design). So much easier to look at the board as opposed to which way arrows are pointing.
