    17:37: "But you can't mix animals, so I can't put a horse and a cow in a stall." That's one thing I never understood about Rosenberg's Agricola/Caverna/All Creatures Big and Small/Fields of Arle farming games. It's not like horses and cows predate upon each other.
    Perhaps Rosenberg's cows are really werecows.

      Loved your comment. It is a rule I have sort of just accepted and never thought much about. ..but picturing horses, cows and sheep eyeballing each other with murderous intent is hilarious to me. I think if you place different animals in the same pasture, one must die, thus, you can avoid having to visit a slaughterhouse. The meat is on the ground!

      Hmm. Maybe in Uwe's next farming sim, we'll see poo-shaped bits used to denote unhappiness in the pig pens. If nasty outbreaks of malaise should occur, maybe we'll consider the game to be "Agridemic" and we'll have to travel around to different farms to treat the diseases quickly before our resources run out. ("Panicola?")

      Yeah. Werecows are just more fun.

    When you upgrade your workbench with 'Master' you get to pick another upgrade straight away? Are you limited to one workbench upgrade per 'Master' action?

    You are fun and easy to listen to! Even when the buildings were hiding I was entertained. Looking forward to my first game of this with the girlfriend later today!

    Arle is a village in Germany, near the borders of The Netherlands

    Thanks for this Runthrough, we played our first game of FOA today and I just want to check if we played it right ;) We were very impressed with this Rosenberg!

    Wonder that is the design choice behind having 2 travel boards that don't interact. For anything else you compete with other player but you can make a delivery to a town even if the other player has already been there, but you can't make a second delivery yourself. Feels like something must have changed after playtesting

    I think this game should be a video game simply because it would have no maintenance, take up less physical space, require minimal storage, and most importantly...it would be more affordable :P I do like physical games, but everything I mentioned earlier makes it hard to enjoy...that and I have no friends interested in these heavier board games ^_-

    I'm confused by the statement you made that it's 2 player only. I just looked at the back of my box and it says it can also be played 1 player. Is there a different edition of this game that only has 2 player?

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  6 лет назад +1

      nope, i just forgot about the 1p variant. my intention was to make clear that unlike all other Rosenberg games, you cannot play with 3 or more players

      rahdo Ah, I see. Thanks for the response! This is probably one of my favorite Rosenburg games, next to Feast For Odin

    Hi Richard!
    In your Caverna run through you stated that Caverna could be could Agricola 2, could Fields of Arle be called Agricola 3? I'm trying to decide between Caverna and Fields of Arle.

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  9 лет назад

      mikemc17 no, i'd call arle more of a spin off than a sequel. it does a lot of the same sort of stuff, but has a lot of different elements as well. i still prefer agricola to either of them, but i like arle better than caverna definitely :)

      +rahdo thanks! i'll stick with my agricola since it scratches that itch. i like complex games, but this just seems potentially not to my liking

    Damn. It took me this review to understand this is not about Arles in France but Arle in Germany. As a French guy, am a little heartbroken :)

    You should not be afraid to stop the video when you need to make a correction, look for something of shuffle. It'll shorten your videos a little and would be appreciated by your viewers (I think)....

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  10 лет назад +9

      Crankbait4444 i never stop the video because if i do, it means i've now got to go into an editor and splice videos together, which takes tons of time... this is why i always film in one take

    • @Crankbait4444
      @Crankbait4444 10 лет назад

      *****
      You cannot pause and restart without creating 2 separate videos that need splicing? It makes sense then! Keep up the good work!
