  • Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum remembers idolizing Kobe Bryant as a kid and falling in love with Kobe’s playing style, which he says was like admiring art. Tatum gushes over Kobe’s obsession with basketball and says it helped him realize the sacrifices necessary to perform at an elite level. Later, Tatum remembers getting an unsolicited text from Kobe and later flying to L.A. to workout with him. We also hear how Tatum first learned of Kobe’s passing and the difficulties of accepting the harsh reality.

If you think about like the last goals Kobe had was how can He inspire others or the younger generations to come, with the passing of him, he did just that in not only young but everyone in the world, Kobe was truly a superhero, even if you don’t watch basketball, everyone knew of him, and his death impacted many in this world, and I hate that he’s gone and died like that but God needed him more I guess, sometimes we overlook the value of things until they’re gone.

But how?! It was his 25th day in a row doing that fateful helicopter ride (his daughter Gigi was only with him when she wasn’t in school) and when the helicopter took off, visibility was 4 miles with an overcast ceiling of a quarter mile. It wasn’t until 60 miles into the flight that the pilot encountered fog that reduced visibility to less than an inch which seemed like no big deal to him. So he underestimated it and the rest is history. Even nearly 3 years later, it still doesn’t quite feel real!
