When we first got together he would send me cute messages all day long. I would always respond even though I was at work. Then all of a sudden he just stopped. I still sent things to him but he wouldn't even open them. After a couple weeks I stopped sending them. I even told him how much I appreciated his messages. They made my day. He just smirked and walked away. I didn't realize it at the time, I was dealing with a covert narcissist.
Yes typical behaviour, that smirk is a dead give away, but you learned that that charm is short-lived! Cut and run, quickly.

Yup, and sometimes both of you are insecure and the relationship spectacularly implodes like what happened to me when I dated a friend I'd known for 4 years 😭 I had just started dating again after my marriage ended, and I didn't know that his last girlfriend had cheated on him... his friend told me only after I had already broken up with him. If I'd known I would have understood why he was keeping me at arms length and acting so weird and wouldn't have broken up with him. Hopefully he'll talk to me again some day
I did everything you shared here. This man just stopped caring for us and our relationship. I gave up on him, and now I'm finding my happiness getting divorced.
I will ALWAYS pursue a woman that I like.
HOWEVER, if she has hurt me in some way or made me feel like there is another guy in her heart/mind, I will NOT pursue her the same way.
I could TRULY still be into her, but I won’t pursue her or put the same effort once she has hurt me, disrespected me or shows any signs of still not being over another man or dealing with another guy in any capacity.
I’ve had girls do those things and yet still expect me to pursue or “simp”.

I think we need to open the discussion between “chasing” and “reciprocating.” A lot of my female friends I hear say they won’t do certain things when the man has clearly done the pursuing and then they don’t reciprocate because they think it’s “chasing.” They are not the same thing. I often feel like I’m reaching out and initiating more often than him. I know he cares about me. I think it’s a difference of personality and attachment types. We are also long distance which make it more challenging. Sometimes I feel like he doesn’t understand that I need him to reach out more and to initiate our time together. It’s almost like he thinks I already know so he doesn’t need to keep showing me.

This is very enlightening. Reciprocating these three things isn’t a problem. The truth is I haven’t been in a relationship in a very long time. I tell him I love him and he says it’s lust, I reply I also lust for you. He acts like he loves me but can’t say it. I message him and compliment him. He calls me daily, there is a distance between us and he makes the drive when possible however, has never invited me to his place. It’s been 8 months of dating, I do feel in love. Does it matter if the woman is 6 yrs older than the man? We started out beautiful. He would call and we would talk for more than an hour. We have so much in common besides our birthdays are 3 days apart. Now, I’m the one that initiate communication. Calling, texting, and even though there is a slight age difference about 6 yrs apart, it really doesn’t matter to me. I feel maybe there might be someone else. He’s very handsome and I tell him that often and he calls me beautiful. When we’re together, it’s magical. I just wish he would connect more.

Ah mon frère je vis exactement la même chose avec un frère de l’église. Je vis dans une autre ville pas loin de la sienne et on se retrouve une fois par mois pour des réunions d’église dans sa ville. Au début il était très enthousiaste pour venir me parler , il s’est même présenté à moi plusieurs fois en quelques mois pensant que je ne l’avais pas repéré 😅 et lorsque je l’ai salué par son prénom et que j’ai commencé à répondre son enthousiasme et être ouverte, je remarque qu’il est plus distant, mais il m’observe pendant le culte discrètement, comme s’il m’examine profondément et cela me perturbe. Il vient moins me parler après le culte mais il s’arrange à être près de moi et me fait des compliments sans plus. Je pense qu’il est dans cette phase de questionnements. Que le Seigneur l’aide mais je vais le rassurer 😊 …❤

well beware of narcissists who will express feelings towards you within a couple of weeks of chatting with you online and then expect you to feel the same when you're still getting to know them and no trust or healthy foundation has been established yet. however they say they love you and that you have them forever (you haven't even had a voice/video call yet). but they keep asking invasive questions about your feelings when you've already told them that you'd like to continue getting to know them and see where things go. but that's just not (soon) enough for the crazy person so they keeping on trying to break your boundaries. when that doesn't work they start taking offense at everything you say, saying that they are just emotionally sensitive and feel hurt by you. and from there on they feel justified in being verbally abusive towards you...

also beware of boys who love it when you engage them and respond enthusiastically when all is good, even give you a few crumbs. and they mention big things like they are falling in love and a relationship, yet never act on them or try to progress the connection in any meaningful way. somehow they are always tired to do that first voice call but they still stay up late doing other things. you're never truly a priority so when you start distancing yourself as you do not want your time wasted and your feelings played with, then they come onto you all upset and having all of these demands that they themselves are unable to live up to and just expect you to carry the entire connection smh

Right now I don't know what to think of him anymore. At the beginning he made me understand that he was only looking for a relationship like a "sex friend" that he didn't want to commit to. for a few days, he started texting me even though he never did (under the pretext that his life is not interesting) he didn't want to do too much activity with me because it gave him the impression to be in a relationship. and now, He's asking me out on dates, even showing me little scenes of jealousy...I'm lost...I don't know what to think.
Why don’t you ask him if you guys are in the same situation? Also understand your energy is closed off to others if you’re having sex with him.
