edit: the replacement Chinese plastic cap I could remove with just my hand and no tools, stuck the OEM one back on and now it ain’t budging

Also.. Do you think using permatex oil resistant ultra black gasket maker around the inner bottom lip of the cap (small cm wide line around cap) would be a good idea to keep it more reliable & still serviceable? Started up my first gen b58 this afternoon in my tiny garage and went back inside to do a few things….….20 minutes went by and forgot car was idling in garage, went out and was almost floored to see white smoke pouring out of my small garage and burnt oil smell. Was shocked, and thought car was gonna blow or something. Super anxious thinking it’s something car ending but quickly found out that these first gen b58s are prone to this ( thanks forums ). Went down to harbor freight and got the big body panel pry kit ($8) and rushed back home. I rushed because I read that cap is easier to pry off when car is warm so…..anyhow took the cap off with pry tool (came off easier than I thought) and first thing I noticed was that little plastic cap inside with the diaphragm and spring were all soaked with oil. Looked immediately at diaphragm and was dismayed to see that diaphragm looked fine. But having bad eyes and the fact that diaphragm was covered in oil , I brought it inside and wiped off oil and looked at it under a bright light and there it was…a small tear in the diaphragm by the edge. No parts stores around here has it so have to check with dealer. I’m hoping I could just purchase the diaphragm but I venture it’s gonna be the whole assembly, cover, cap, spring and diaphragm.

One last question and btw I got that diaphragm from Ross racing and did that trick you show in video..crazy how it works. Anyhow have a crapload of burnt oil residue throughout exhaust and probably in manifold and turbo probably. Do I just run car at WOT now and then to clear it all it out , assuming that would take days and days of driving for that? They also have fuel additives that apparently clean out your cat ( mine is the ER high flow ) and exhaust system like cataclean and duralube makes one also. What do you think? I hope my cat or no other internals were screwed up by the burnt oil

So this just happened to my 2017 340i. I was in a car wash line idling for about 45 mins and then a loud whistling sound appeared and excessive white smoke from my exhaust with a smell of either oil/gas. Turned it off popped the hood no leaks or smoke from the bay and all lines were secure. No over heating either. Let it sit for about 30 mins started it up again and it was running fine. Again no lights or CEL. I Drive reports all systems good. I drove the car home (about 25 min drive) and it ran like nothing ever happened. Called my tech brought the car in on a tow the next day. They ran diagnostics, again no faults reported, they drove the car about 10 miles, then ran the car on the lift for an extended period of time. Then drove it again when it was cold. No symptoms. Also checked the pcv diaphragm for punctures and nothing. I’m scratching my head on this one. Anyone with any insight would be greatly appreciated. (56k on the dash oil changes every 3k on the dot) (stage 2 flash tune/intake/ careless dp) tech said the injectors are fine and my sparks were changed at 25k and 50k.

I ran the vargas breather, upon changing my oil recently I found my subframe pan completely soaked in oil. The gasket on the breather cap was allowing oil past and leaking down between the intake manifold and the valve cover. The breather never fully seemed to seat all the way to begin with and I decided to just install the OEM oil cap again in the meantime.
