I've played about 200 hours and gotten daddy long legs twice. Very useful and he managed to flatten Mom's heart into pieces. It's a brutal game, but it feels fair - like you got hit because you weren't careful enough OR you didn't get good items. I find that finding powerful items changes the game a lot - I'm playing a run with placenta, torn photo, screw, stigmata, lemon mishap (couldn't find an active item that was decent), small rock and cricket's body....oh, and I have steven as a familiar. Things die quickly - and I'm not that good at it..
The genre it is in hiding info keeps you guessing and interested as you need to discover what each things do. There is a wiki for people who need to know what everything is but you lose some depth and interest and mystery in doing so. I wouldn't consider not having some info as a negative thing and is definitely not worth a whole point off.
This game should have gotten a flat 10. Lack of info should have been on the positive side the creator of the game wanted it to be like that because there is secrets to be found about the game I don't think that 1 thing should take off a whole point and the fact that the lack of info is in the game is a great thing it leaves us gamers to explore and figure things out

luckily now if you own Antibirth+ you can use steam workshop mods to get an encyclopedia inside the game that tells you what every items does, it's genius.

Download a resource app so you can know what every item is and does, along with descriptions of all the characters and enemies! 2.)Always be on the lookout for rocks that are tinted and marked with an X on them, they'll contain precious items, mostly Soul Hearts! 3.)Secret Rooms will be hidden by at least three other conjoined rooms. Super Secret Rooms will not have ANY other rooms conjoined with them outside of the door you entered from. Lastly, don't give up if the start of a run doesn't seem to be in your favor, you just COULD get some sweet item items on the very next floor! Thanks and HAVE FUN with this endless amazing game!

Explore and discover, so you are supposed to figure it out so people can have an unexpected result that people might think are either good or bad, take northernlion for example, he took Isaacs heart and didn't Knapp what it was, until he figured out that the heart only takes damage and the body doesnt, they did this so people can have a better experience in the game discovering good or bad items, making the "lack of info" downside , a bullshit reason.
It's an obvious design choice ffs, they don't tell you because they want you as a player to make that choice whether to risk your playthrough on a risky looking item

lol my friend was telling me that this game has more replay value than the entire mass effect trilogy... i have 150 hours into mass effect 1 alone (i beat it 7 times) and im still finding tons of sidequests and dialog options that i never had available before

From what I understand, the original didn't have controller support, and this one does. It makes the game feel MUCH more fast paced and shooter like. Also, there's a really great local co-op mode where your friend can drop in at any time If you have a controller, and can fly over obstacles. It's seriously fun!

If i dont check the wiki i have a fear of picking up items that could make me restart from the beginning. This could be alright if items were less rars but like you said their is a high chance i wont see that item again until hours of gameplay later. Im having tons of fun with it but i wish after you picked up an item it was more in depth as to what it actually did.

ByakkoSL Yes but it is definitely not "beginner edition." Have you even reached the late game? It's absolutely ridiculous what the game throws at you, especially with the final bosses. And that's not even counting the challenges or this one secret challenge character that is retardedly hard to do anything with, but which you have to beat everything with ON HARD MODE to 100% the game.

yeah but maybe to some people it might be annoying which is fair enough maybe some people arent a fan of stuff like that but enjjoy every other aspect but with the expanding wiki its easily resolved but since thats fan made it cant be put into raising the score for the review
