@@CAMSLAYER13 that means they are doing a great job at marketing. Yea it might suck to see/ hear it, but everyone knows about it, and expects it, like you said
It's how Mimic works in Gen 1. Mimic uses its own current PP. But uses the Max PP of whatever it copies. So Wing attack would look kinda' normal, having 9/35 PP. But moves with only 5 PP, you get extra uses!
I tried this using Growth instead of Swords Dance and yeah it ended up working a lot better, with a perfect DV Paras and a tiny bit of Stat EXP grinding for one more level at the end, I was able to enter the Elite 4 at 49 and finish at 57. By being able to boost up six times, you're able to outspeed more stuff, which autowins when you have 100% accurate Spore in Gen 1, and it boosts your durability a lot more for when you can't outspeed. For my moveset at the end I went with Spore, Growth, Mega Drain, and Mimic. Really didn't want to give up Body Slam, but with that instead of Mimic, you're almost walled by Agatha; it's possible after maximizing my Special to beat her three Ghosts with 16 Mega Drains at the level I was at (52), but it required a good deal of luck with her not using Super Potions and not getting crits (and Gen 1 misses for that matter) to not run out of Mega Drain PP before taking out the final Gengar, which is on top of the luck needed to get her first Gengar to sleep and five Growths in (which is what was needed to outspeed her Gengar). With Mimic you can just get Dream Eater to sweep her team easily once you get all six Growths in, and Mimicking Hyper Beam against Lance and Psychic against Blue worked well enough to give up Body Slam for. Blue was a problem, since at that level it was impossible to avoid levelling up mid-battle even if you Rare Candy beforehand and you start off in a really bad matchup against Pidgeot so you can't afford to save your Growths for the Zard (which required five to outspeed). I found the best chance of success was to Spore the Pidgeot and just max out your Special immediately, it requires a bit of luck to get up to four (where you then outspeed Pidgeot) but most of the time I could do it. After you maximize your Special it only takes three Mega Drains to KO the Pidgeot, and then you outspeed the Alakazam, so you can safely put it to sleep and Mimic Psychic without retaliation, while then 2HKOing with Mega Drain. The Exeggutor sounds annoying when you just have Mega Drain and Psychic, but Psychic 4HKOs it and has a 33% chance to drop its Special to KO in less hits, so your PP will be fine as long as you avoid putting him into the HP range where Blue can use Full Restores. After that you level up, so you no longer outspeed the Gyarados. Gyarados can OHKO with a crit Hyper Beam but otherwise it's of little threat, Spore it and MD 3HKOs while Psychic 2HKOs, use the former if you got hit to get your HP back and use the latter to KO faster if he didn't hit you. Then there's the Zard, you need some luck against him but with maximized Special, Paras survives non-crit Fire Blast with about 20% of its HP left at that level, and it takes about ten rounds of non-crit Fire Spin to die, so you tank the Fire Blast or it misses you with either of its moves, then you Spore it and 2HKO it with Psychic. Overall you should win over half the time against the Zard, which isn't great odds but certainly better off than your Swords Dance Paras that couldn't outspeed and didn't have its Special quadrupled boosted to survive the Fire moves regardless of its HP.

Hey I should make a comment about how good the video is even though it hasn't been long enough for me to have watched it. That sounds like something the comment section does
@@kylelundgren5133 yup. It's so broken that's how it works now. Despite the fact that they've denied any changes were made when content creators first took notice of it.
Weedle straight-up isn't happening. I crunched the numbers out of curiosity and because Agatha has three Ghosts that 4x resist Poison Sting (on top of two more mons that 2x resist it) and are immune to Struggle, she's a hard stop. It requires more than 56 hits (the max amount you can get with PP ups) to beat her without getting an impossible number of crits, even at level 100 with the best Attack stat possible, even if she wasn't fighting back. And once you run out, Struggle can't hit Gengar. Your movepool is so restricted that there's no other strategy possible. I think a run that might be more doable and interesting (as in not "hey let's use items this time!" because that saps all the fun out) would be a Weedle/Caterpie tag team run. They have a combined total of three distinct moves, so it's in many ways still worse than the majority of single-mon runs, and Caterpie could tag in for the non-Ghosts to save Weedle's PP and provide extra HP. Considering Caterpie isn't gonna be in this series otherwise (because of Ghosts) and Weedle literally can't win unless you get lottery luck, this would fix both problems! Still would be hard as all hell, but would also be theoretically doable.
There MIGHT be an extremely inconsistent weedle solo run. Agatha is prone to switching. You can MAYBE get a run where you beat the 3 ghosts with poison sting and struggle the other 2. maybe
Similar to Lorelei's Dewgong, for some reason Blaine is programmed to use Super Potions on certain turns at random regardless of what's going on. Even when his Pokemon are full health. No one knows what that's about.
Comicaze My only guess would be that Blaine was supposed to be portrayed in battle as a mad scientist who uses potions, but unfortunately it only hurt him. Maybe it would have worked better if there was a potion in between super and hyper potions that they could have given him, as 50 HP isn’t enough in the late game but 200 HP is a bit ridiculous.
@@SaerasChuu No what it is is that Blaine is programmed to use Super Potion like it's a battle item, similar to how some other boss trainers use X items and Guard Spec, so there's a random chance each turn he'll just use it like it's one of those items regardless of the battle conditions.

Don’t let anyone give you crap for using Mimic. It’s always my favorite part of your runs because I like the strategies you come up with using it. And waiting for the Tail Whip all cheeky like that was hilarious
You should do a little teaser at the end of each episode showing which pokemon you're doing next. The classic "who's that pokemon" with the black silhouette. Seems perfect for this series.
Man you could make hour long episodes and I would still be excited to watch them! Favorite thing to watch on RUclips at the moment looking forward to the next one
I wonder how the ranking would go if: Pokemon A - has hard time with Brock, pretty consistent through entire game. Pokemon B - easy time with Brock, slightly more problems throughout whole game. And their level and playtime are comparable...
That's pretty much what keeping track of the ingame timer and factoring it in to the rankings is for, since if a pokemon struggles early on against a particular trainer like Brock, that gets reflected in the higher ingame time showing they had to do more grinding (such as Abra finishing the game only a couple levels higher than Gastly but then having by far the highest ingame time, since it required so much grinding to get past Brock).
Isn't the Weedle run litterally unbeatable? Dewgong will just spam rest on you because good AI, and you 4hitKO with Max attack level 100 critical hit poison stings after poison (I'm not sure about Dewgong EVS, but this is at best a 3 hit KO)
All AI pokemon have no stat experience (Gen 1's equivalent of EVs), and in Gen 1 all trainers have an 8 DV for all their stats (equivalent to a 16 IV in post-Gen 2 games). You also have to factor in the 12.5% badge boost to your attack.
@@CreeperLucario Who? I searched for a while... and for itemless solo Weedle, just found WeedleGod. Indeed, he beat Dewgong with, 3 crits in a row I think. But in the end, he barely missed on doing it itemless, courtesy of Agatha. And that was with saving between E4 members allowed. Since Weedle cannot learn any other moves, Struggle doesn't hit ghosts, and you don't get a reliable way to abuse the Badge Boost Glitch... I don't think Jrose can pull it off with his current set of rules. Which makes me worry about his sanity. Even more than usual.
@@cereal7591 if you can 3shot the Dewgong without poison at least it is theoretically possible, you just need the Golbat to screech you 3 times to abuse badge boost, and Agatha needs to switch to her ghosts before you finish poison sting PPS, so you can struggle the Arbok and the golbat
I think it goes to show just how entertaining Jrose11 is when I know Mimic and the badge boost glitch are going to be used in almost all of the runs, but he still has me wondering how he's gonna beat the game. I'm loving this series, it's one of the highlights of my day whenever it comes out.
This run seems to have gone very similar to our own attempt at one of these challenges. We'll be especially interested to see your eventual EKANS run to see how you overcome the various hurdles of the nope rope.
drakesdrum1 - He wanted to know if it was luck based (i.e. if the AI chose not use to Sludge) or if he would have survived a sludge and it wouldn't have mattered either way
I did notice something. So far, Paras (especially compared to Scyther or Venusaur) has one thing going for it. Since crit rate is based on speed, Paras doesn't get that many. And since crits override buffs, Paras doesn't have to worry about doing less damage with a crit.
Since Mewtwo doesn't learn its only boosting move, Amnesia, until level 81, doesn't get sleeping moves, and levels up slower, I can see Mewtwo might not actually be the fastest solo pokemon run in Gen 1. Maybe Mewtwo's stats are strong enough though from minimum battles to still win everything from STAB Psychic and sheer coverage alone.
It’s legitimately awful how in some challenges you have to keep going after the Geodude and then lose to the Onix just for EXP. The new thumbnails are looking great JRose!
8:36 Honestly I want you to do this again in the remakes specifically for this fight. I'd love to watch Pikachu's static activate causing you to not be able to move for the next 7 turns before getting knocked out because that's RNG for you.

Gotta love the Pokémon Conquest music in the video. Just recently picked the game up again and I'm doing the necessary episodes in order to unlock the protagonist's one right now.
I'm confused by the final battle. You recognized earlier Wing Attack only had 35 power, but you said Cut would've been too weak? Isn't it still 50 power in Gen 1? (although only 95% accurate I guess) Even though Wing Attack proved to be useful against Exeggutor you could've just spore stalled it regardless.
it is, but i guess having the super effective hit versus the exeggcutor was too valuable since it can use hypnosis to basically end the run. alakazam was an ohko with wing attack. since cut is stronger, it would have been an ohko as well. from the damage judgment against charizard and gyarados it seemed that wing attack would do around 2/3. that means cut would have likely just missed out on the ohko and instead would have made the ai spam full restores - which then would have removed the spore he just inflicted. and well, the 95 acc issue. so from watching the video, wing attack seemed the best option to me.
I guess he meant to say Cut was inconsistent, rather than weaker, since it can miss more often than Wing Attack (which only can if the 256/1 glitch triggers) and a miss at this point would be fatal, because it would pretty much spell a reset from the beginning of the Elite Four.
@@nihildwo4874 The Paras certainly would've outsped the Exeggutor after badge boosts, and discounting the 1/256 glitch every attack falls under Spore would've rendered it null given Gen 1 sleep.

You should track how hard the early game is by comparing the levels you beat Brock at
That's honestly a great idea, I hope he does that in the future!
Probably should add misty too. She's also a pretty huge wall in the early game for some types.
I wonder how the ranking would go if:
Pokemon A - has hard time with Brock, pretty consistent through entire game.
@@OmegaTyrant those teleports definitely didn't help
Spore is actually what made me use Paras on my first playthrough of Red, I loved him, didn't know about how weak he was back then.
Lmao i love that these get posted at like 3 am my time. actually get to view them early.
Isn't the Weedle run litterally unbeatable? Dewgong will just spam rest on you because good AI, and you 4hitKO with Max attack level 100 critical hit poison stings after poison (I'm not sure about Dewgong EVS, but this is at best a 3 hit KO)
Struggle?
Someone beat it already in gen 1. Agatha is more of a problem than Loreilei.
You did gastly as the only ghost pokemon...
Now its time for dratini the only dragon pokemon
Mate, I'm mostly canadian, have a lot of family in Quebec, and have taken french for around five years and my french is about as good as yours lol
Yeah, I can't agree more. My relatives are French Canadian and even after taking French classes, I just can't use the language.
C'est bien de savoir qu'il y a quelque anglo qui essait d'apprendre notre langue :D Bonne chance dans tes cours sa devien plus facile avec le temps.
Blessed 3 AM upload. Good luck on getting 200k subs, you deserve it.
Ah, the legend drops a video on us again. This one’s gonna be good.
These videos are getting me through quarantine. Such a good series. Thanks man
This run seems to have gone very similar to our own attempt at one of these challenges. We'll be especially interested to see your eventual EKANS run to see how you overcome the various hurdles of the nope rope.
He will be in trouble with Ekans, as he can't use the badge boost glitch with him. I predict that it will take until level 80 to get through the game.
If it ever gets another evolution it needs to be called eporepon
After these last two I think you've earned the freedom to do another easy run, maybe Ponyta or Diglett
This WAS an easy run with spore swordsdance spam. Need a hard ome again now. Eevee :lazy:
"Koga! You have forced me to level up 11 more times! Now, I am going to beat you up over and over again!"
Yeah, I don't get why he decided to beat Koga like 3+ times for us on screen there. Was that just for Catharsis, or?
@@drakesdrum1 there is always this argument of "I felt I was lucky so I battled him again. Just to make sure it is consistent 😏"
drakesdrum1 - He wanted to know if it was luck based (i.e. if the AI chose not use to Sludge) or if he would have survived a sludge and it wouldn't have mattered either way
I did notice something. So far, Paras (especially compared to Scyther or Venusaur) has one thing going for it. Since crit rate is based on speed, Paras doesn't get that many. And since crits override buffs, Paras doesn't have to worry about doing less damage with a crit.
"The game is now super difficult. And I'm not saying that for an ad bre--" *Ad starts playing*
adblock is an amazing extension
@@Ryouski It sure is, and I use it. Just not for RUclipsrs that I want to support.
I really love these frequent uploads, keep up the good work! And don’t push yourself too hard either!
Keep the videos long! Love em that way. Your detailed content is why we're here!
I love this series! Looking forward to the magnemite and zubat one
LOVE these videos SO much!!! Best part of my day every time
When you beat a whole game in one sitting (at least from our view) half an hour is amazing
like I said, I'm glad these come out at like 3 am EST when I'm done with the day and I can go asleep to the sound of my favorite pokemon youtuber
That excitement when you see a new jrose video! I’ve been waiting for this :)
I know it wouldn’t qualify as one of the 53, but I’d love to see a “how fast can I crush the game with a single Mewtwo?” run.
Omega Tyrant That’s what I’m thinking. With it’s stats and Psychic, thunderbolt, icebeam, it won’t need amnesia to blast everything.
@@Walkerman379 Your suggestion has come to life!
It’s legitimately awful how in some challenges you have to keep going after the Geodude and then lose to the Onix just for EXP. The new thumbnails are looking great JRose!
Cool videoseries! While we already had the starters bulbasaur, charmander, squirtle and pikachu... eevee would be awesome as well! :D
8:36 Honestly I want you to do this again in the remakes specifically for this fight. I'd love to watch Pikachu's static activate causing you to not be able to move for the next 7 turns before getting knocked out because that's RNG for you.
I remembered this being more painful than it actually was. I thought the bodyslam deletion had a bigger impact. And yes it was bad but not run ending.
Thanks for the video!
Awesome video buddy! I'm a police officer and love watching them when things are slow!
Between this series and False Swipe Gaming's Gen 1 competitive coverage, I see that Body Slam is a defining move of Gen 1 battling.
Oh boy another one yeah
Ça va Bien, Jrose ;)
E VAMOS LÁ PARA MAIS UMA SPEEDRUN!!
Fucking Love it
Love the series so far and excited/terrified for a few Pokemon to come!! Awesome work!
Ah yes, the hm mon himself all on his own. Lets see how this goes. ^-^
Edit: Keep up the great work! Makes me want to play this but Dead By Daylight came out on mobile so playing that rn instead.
Dead by Daylight on mobile sounds like self torture..its bad and toxic enough on pc.. do you have masochism ?
@@theSato yes
I always looking forward to watching these videos (even if its at 2 in the morning), keep it up man!
You know what? Since it was caught here, let's see Poliwag!
I am pretty sure I have never used Poliwag at all. Never even considered using one.
@Andrew Garrison I love poliwrath. Especially love being able to teach it psychic for coverage. Most useful against other fighting types that way
I personally love the longer videos. I watch them while I'm drawing or playing games with youtube's picture-by-picture function and their length means I can easily get in 3 or 4 before I finish which is a good amount
I vote for spearow, fast and fragile, i wonder which one will be most critical
I can't say anything about a spearow run, but sometimes I like switching it up and using fearow in place of pidgeot. Mostly due to drill peck.
Oh man, your videos are a godsend right now, you're really keeping me sane when I have to work on these deadlines :' ) Excellent work, haven't even watched the whole video yet but I know it's going to be awesome!
Despite messing up with double edge usage the switch to mimic was a nice and fully expected move for you, pretty much a signature move for you at this point. So can we get a sandshrew run next?
Saddened to hear these'll be under a half hour now
Slowpoke next?
This vid made me happy! I really like Paras design and I think it's a shame it's so bad in the games, but seeing you beat gen 1 with it was awesome!
Video #5 where I say "Do Eevee next, do one of the hardest runs with the best Pokemon!"
Was refreshing all of last night assuming it was due for the next video to drop! Been really helping me through a sad time (no, not the quarantine, its not even in effect in my state sadly).
I believe he's doing every first evolution Red Pokémon in order.
TheDanishGuyReviews nah, he did Gastly already and he woulda needed to done several others before if it was in order
@@TheDanishGuyReviews caterpie and tweedle would've been done by now if so. He wants suggestions/gauging interest. Wish weedle was after bulbasaur tho!
@@theSato I don't think he'll do caterpie. You can't hit ghosts with caterpie
I love the half hour videos, keep them coming, I am totally into this
I like how at 1:38 it looks like he finds Brock in the wild
This is an underrated comment
Don't shorten the videos, I love the longer videos
Your French was fine, I live in that French part of Canada, and understood you fine.
@Takeo Yes Québec.
I only speak English, and I understood him fine; I don't think this is a good metric.
I gained a new respect for our little bug friend after using Braindead the Paresect on my complete play thru of Let's Go Eevee glad you shined some light on him
I, as the kids say, never clicked so fast.
Takeo thanks
"I switched from Redtube / Pornhub to this" is also pretty popular nowadays.
@@bartiz12 so unfunny
In other words, you came as soon as you heard.
Jrose out here harnessing the power of Gen 1 Jank like some kind of anime protagonist
Honestly prefer the longer video styles
Loving the series, keep it up king
Love seeing these in my sub box, these videos are top tier. Keep up the good work man :)
Treat yourself to a Mewtwo run.
I love mt moon because it makes you think ahead. Catch a Paras to teach bullet seed to and slap Misty and catch a Geodude to raise up for Lt. Surge.
can't wait for you to do oddish for 4/20
@Takeo i can't tell if you are saying that's what a kid would say, or if you're calling LlamaLeader a kid
Takeo yes it’s is
2 days from today
Gotta love the Pokémon Conquest music in the video. Just recently picked the game up again and I'm doing the necessary episodes in order to unlock the protagonist's one right now.
I wanna see either a geodude or onix run. rock types seem like they would be hard to run with.
Only pre-evolved Pokémon as far as RGY are part of the challenge, so Onix does not count, but geodude does :)
@@Zutentu Excuse me? Is this a joke?
I swear your intro song could be a jingle for a well know brand
@@nihildwo4874 The Paras certainly would've outsped the Exeggutor after badge boosts, and discounting the 1/256 glitch every attack falls under Spore would've rendered it null given Gen 1 sleep.
i love how this series kinda got my breakfast ritual during the lockdown :)
When you announced you were gonna be doing every unevolved pokemon in a 50+ part series I was like "nah not a good idea. Imma get bored." But honestly these are pretty sick. I like seeing ones like these specifically with lesser used pokemon. Great video!
He took the helix fossil and comments are good for the.......oh wrong channel lol
In all seriousness, you sir have the patience of a Saint with some of these runs. I could never put this much effort into challenge runs, and I'm glad I don't have too. I can just watch you and others to satisfy my pokemon challenges appetite. Good work my friend.
