I always loved the consistency in the thumbnails, going back to the catch em all series. Speaking of, once Pokemon Home comes out... Will we see an ultimate catch em all where you go from no pokemon to a full dex in Pokemon home? You can get legit event pokemon in Gen 4 now, so I think you could actually do it. Whether you go for all the variations of things like Vivillon would be up to you, but I have a feeling the community around your channel could arrange something. Maybe you could set up a P.O. box where people could send you their games with different Vivillons on them, and you could send them back. Heck you could do that with any rare or event Pokemon, and make a living Dex Museum on Pokemon Home. Knowing you, you would probably rather just do it yourself using only the games and the hardware, but as a community project it could be pretty awesome. We could even try to get one of every pokemon with perfect EVs and IVs if we really wanted to make it a huge project.
Giovanni: I’ll train these rock type pokémon to crush any flying type this trainer throws at me Pidgey: sweeps the team with dig Giovanni: wait that’s illegal
Another problem with Double Team is that it's learnable by every pokemon that can learn TMs, so if you're abusing Double Team luck to win at levels far lower than you would be able to otherwise, then it becomes the universal strategy among about every pokemon and eliminates much of the point of comparing them against each other (and would make the videos a lot less interesting if you're using the same exact tactic with every pokemon to win in the later half). And while people can debate on how overpowered it is in later Gens, it's way busted in Gen 1, as besides the only never-miss move being Swift and the only evasion-nullifying move being Haze, it gets you badge boost stacks to all your stats and the evasion-boosting would make it simple to get six badge boosts in, especially against trainers that would otherwise hit you too hard to boost up against, like Lorelei here with Pidgey. Accuracy reduction on the other hand is more fair, as while the AI is too dumb to switch out their pokemon to nullify accuracy drops, you're not getting badge boost stacks off it and it's not a universal ability, while it also requires a lot more luck to work as it has to be done to each individual pokemon you fight and each use has the chance of failure, whereas you can just Double Team six times at the start if the opponent's first pokemon doesn't one shot you and then the rest of the opponent's team can rarely touch you.
To be honest, on the back of this I’d say a hard ban on double team might be a good idea for this challenge. Has he used it to this point? Should be noted re: sand attack vs double team that sand attack only lowers the accuracy of the poke you’re against whilst double team increases your evasion, which in a single poke challenge, will last for the whole battle. Another reason double team is more broken.
@@Cream147player He hasn't used Double Team yet in any of his runs, so all the pokemon so far have been compared to each other without using Double Team

Pidgey, this episode: *Fly* Koga: Damn, I'm on my last Pokemon, and he still has all of his. Gotta make sure I use my full power to try and take him out. *Self-Destruct*
Gen 1 AI does select their action when it's their turn to act instead of at the beginning of the game, but Gen 1 AI selects its move at complete random (barring trainers with "good AI" when it has super effective and resisted moves) and just treats the exploding moves as if they're any other move, so you get Koga using Selfdestruct with his last pokemon and even when it can't hurt you.

Something else you forgot to mention with Lorelei that makes her such a brick wall to Pidgey is how often she drops your Attack; Dewgong has Growl and the "Good AI" still has her use it sometimes for some reason, the Slowbro has Growl too, and Aurora Beam from Dewgong and Cloyster has a 33% chance to drop your Attack, where if you get your Attack dropped at all the run is pretty much done unless you Amnesia'd up and the Slowbro is near dead when your Attack gets dropped. I found the best strat against her is DE the Dewgong until you OHKO it, then Fly followed by DE against Cloyster (or two Flies if it 2HKOs) but reset if it drops your Attack or crits, then against Slowbro lead off with a DE and then Mimic Amnesia. Just one Amnesia will make a huge survival difference against Lapras' Blizzard and should push Fly into 2HKO range against it, but if you get Growled before you can get that Amnesia off just maximize your Special at that point, and if you keep getting Growled you can try getting Agilities in to salvage your Attack somewhat and start adding badge boost stacks to your quadrupled Special. Once you get past the Slowbro just Fly the rest, and hope you don't critted or frozen. Against Lance just Mimic Hyper Beam off of Gyarados right away and use it, it OHKOs Gyarados at the strength you'll have to be to get past Lorelei without any badge boost stacks, then use your three Agilities against the Dragonair as even if they crit you with Hyper Beam they can't hurt you much (and will be hurting you a lot less than the Gyarados can). After three Agilities you can 100% OHKO the Aerodactyl with Hyper Beam. Against Champion Blue just get your three Agilities in against Pidgeot, two of its moves are going to be a waste and Wing Attack will barely hurt you, while if it Sky Attacks you can just Fly to evade it. After three Agilities (if you don't kill it dodging Sky Attacks first with Fly that is), just use Fly to finish it off and conserve your HP, Fly 2HKOs still after three Agilities, but you're taking more damage from Double Edge recoil unless you get hit by a Sky Attack. If you couldn't get your three Agilities in before killing Pidgeot, get them in against Rhydon, who is pretty safe to boost up against. Against the Arcanine, it's better to use Psychic on it, as it 2HKOs and two it of its moves do nothing while Ember does less than Double Edge recoil will, especially so if Psychic gets a Special drop. Then against the Blastoise you definitely got really lucky as Blizzard will have killed you there, you want to use a Rare Candy before Blue to ensure you don't level up midfight, and against the Blastoise you'll want to use Psychic, as Double Edge won't OHKO without a crit and Psychic has the 33% chance to make its Blizzard weaker in case your health is running low (Psychic will 2HKO with your badge boosts, so DE is just the outright inferior option most of the time). Overall though you can't really optimize that much more with Pidgey, even with perfect DVs and maxed out Stat EXP it still took me entering the Elite 4 at level 82 and finishing at 84 to win with Pidgey, and it still required a good amount of luck to get past Lorelei (though with the level needed to beat her, after her Bruno, Agatha, and Lance were near-guarantees, and losing against Blue mainly requires getting critted + Special dropped by the Alakazam's Psychic, getting confused + self-damaging from Psybeam, or getting critted or frozen by Blastoise's Blizzard, with the latter two scenarios happening to me in three runs that made it to him in a row).

Interesting to see a different roadblock this time in Lorelei. I'm just waiting for the run where Bruno will be challenging, but I've got a feeling it won't be coming!
Yeah Bruno isn't going to be hard for anyone, even for Electrics with nothing but Electric and Normal moves his Onix will just be annoying at that point when they have such bad stats and no move better than Rock Throw, and his Hitmonchan is just useless outside the very small chance it freezes you with Ice Punch. Hitmonlee and Machamp could hit a Normal type and Kabuto very hard, but Bruno doesn't have "good AI" so it's only a 50% and 25% chance respectively that he uses their Fighting moves against them (when he doesn't waste turns with X Defend that is), and the Hitmonlee will be very easily taken down with how frail it is while Machamp isn't durable to Special moves. Plus anyone with a boosting move can boost up to max against either Onix for free to make the Hitmonlee and Machamp even less threatening.
Omega Tyrant Wow, I didn’t know that they didn’t even give Bruno good AI, he definitely is the E4 imposter. Does Agatha have good AI? I know Lorelei, Lance and the Champion fight do.
I found these videos a couple days ago with the Paras video, and then caught up with all of them yesterday. Very fun, showed me how much Badge Boost and Mimic can be abused by even the weakest Pokemon, and I will enjoy when new ones come out. I'll also enjoy your other backlog too while new videos are worked on. As to what Pokemon #9 is going to be, I'm going to guess it'll be something different from Pidgey (so no Spearow), and something that seems prospectively easier (so no Rattata). My guess is Cubone, with it's early Ground move and variety of TMs that it can learn.

It does look one of a series and that is neat
It’s a really beautiful style

@@ArtisChronicles a third of 6 is 2.

wait pidgey can learn dig?
There is a reason why double team is banned, and sand attack isnt in smogon gen 1 tiering.
This is actually true for every gen too. Double team is cheap, sand attack is not.

Pidgey, this episode: *Fly*
Koga: Damn, I'm on my last Pokemon, and he still has all of his. Gotta make sure I use my full power to try and take him out. *Self-Destruct*
Gen 1 AI does select their action when it's their turn to act instead of at the beginning of the game, but Gen 1 AI selects its move at complete random (barring trainers with "good AI" when it has super effective and resisted moves) and just treats the exploding moves as if they're any other move, so you get Koga using Selfdestruct with his last pokemon and even when it can't hurt you.

poliwag starts with hypnosis and bubble and gets amnesia later on and is fast. could be gastly tier, or 1 notch below gastly. can prolly match gastly in level and can do minimum battles, but will take longer.
i actually did slowpoke myself. slowpoke also gets amnesia, but is slow as piss. i actually managed to beat the game also at minimum battles but i had to luck through a bunch of stuff, but gen1 has bad ai that can be heavily abused in the endgame with it. in terms of time though, slowpoke will not be able to match gastly. i think tentacool will be slightly below slowpoke or same tier. higher in level but lower in time.

This was a really long comment.

Im guessing geodude might have bruno issues
Omega Tyrant Wow, I didn’t know that they didn’t even give Bruno good AI, he definitely is the E4 imposter. Does Agatha have good AI? I know Lorelei, Lance and the Champion fight do.
