What’s incredible about Dan Huff is that if he didn’t sing, you’d still objectively say he was one of the best guitarists of the 80s. But if he didn’t play guitar, you could say he was one of the best vocalists. It was incredible that he was able to do both at such a high standard. If Giant’s first album came out three years earlier they’d have been one of the biggest bands in the world.
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, GUYS. As a band, GIANT really did have the magic. This album is like the last mile marker before the pavement ended and the aor scene went to Hell.
I got the CD The Last Of The Runaways today as a birthday present from my husband and I am HOOKED on it big time...Giant was so overlooked back in the day...I wish there was a way that we could do a do over cause these guys kick major ass.
Who's listening to the best decade of music during the Covid-19 pandemic? This band came out after I graduated high school and was in the military. Good memories.
Giant kicked major ass !!! .. Still listen to their music and will never tire of it ! .. Dann Huff .. best vocalist/guitarist off all time in my opinion ..
Man, one of THE albums of the 80's!! Just released a little too late due to the change of styles. Still brings a smile listening to the album; flawless!
Giant, Steelheart, Firehouse, Slaughter. 4 bands that were *insanely* well rounded and way more talented than 99% of the crap Hair Metal bands that had permated the radio for years. Only to get left behind by grunge. 4 bands that should have gone much further. (though, to be fair, Firehouse and Slaughter did do really, really well in Korea, Japan and other Asian countries throughout the 90's)
IslandSoundz you said it. I lifted weights in my garage to those songs...Songs that made you feel like you could lift an earth mover to save someone’s life. Ha!
Nothings changed in my slice of AOR Heaven. Bands like Giant, Journey, Def Leppard still put me on top of the world. To make it even sweeter, there is a huge melodic hard rock scene in Sweden with amazing bands like eclipse, heat and crazy lixx.
As a Hard Rock and Metal fan for over 40 years Giant were hardly ever given any air play in the UK so I am ashamed to say I have only heard See You In My Dreams but what a band thy were - how did they not hit the big time ? Great songs Ace guitarist and Vocalist Good looking - great image
Giant has always been my favorite band!! Every song is just great - vocals, music arrangement and delivery!! I wore my tape out listening to the 'last of the runaways'!
A funny story that relates to these lyrics. When I was young living in Washington state there was an offshore earthquake and tsunami warning. The radio said that people were "standing on the rocks waiting for the Tidal Wave." This would have been approximately 1981 before this song was recorded. Yes people really do that.
Wow!!!!! I had the honour of being asked to do Backing vocals on this album!!! he heeeeee what a band!!! what a bunch of lovely chaps....what wonderful precious memories..........I am a lucky man....hope you guys are all well wherever you may be!!!!...Pete
It's because they started out right on the tail end of good music...shitty grunge was starting to get popular, and it caused them to be overlooked. Winger had the same issue.
Visions, our love is a series of visions A taste on my lips, a whispering word in your ear Oh passion, we're children just playing with passion Losing our grip, falling asleep at the wheel Still we hold on to the bitter end, thinking we can never lose Baby it's a cold night and the winds of change are blowing And these are the innocent days Standing on the rocks, waiting for the tidal waves Dreaming of love, but living inside the lands And these are the innocent days, I know we're the last of the runaways Never return, till love takes us home Lover, we're drowning our doubts in each other Closing our eyes, we bury the truth in the sand I cannot take it, 'cause when we don't feel it, we fake it Oh someday these nights come back to haunt us again Oh we lie here at the water's edge, wishing we could float away 'Cause it's too late to turn back, when the only bridge is burning And these are the innocent days Standing on the rocks, waiting for the tidal waves Dreaming of love, but living inside the lands And these are the innocent days, I know we're the last of the runaways Still we hold on to the bitter end, thinking we can never lose Baby it's a cold night and the winds of change are blowing Oh they're blowing, they're cryin', they're cryin' And these are the innocent days Standing on the rocks, waiting for the tidal waves Dreaming of love, but living inside the lands And these are the innocent days, I know we're the last of the runaways
Excelente banda, pero como todo en la vida, influyen otras circunstancias independiente de la excelencia, en ellos el tiempo en que aparecieron, les jugó en contra, de otra forma ,no cabe duda alguna que habrían sido ENORMES.
If you look, there is some interesting music in the 50’s,60’s,70’and the 80’s. Now most modern so-called rock sound more like a transmission that ran out of oil and on the verge of dying.
The rock who talks about love, fun, joy. Not war, blood, suicide or madness. I'm a big fun of Maiden, Sepultura, etc but i have to agree as i get older i need more peacefull songs. Lol.
I have the very great memory of seeing this band live at the marquee in London for this tour.....you cannot get the vibe of this song until you are up close and personal with Giant in the flesh....awesome band, awesome gig
I was on FM.com and found an old Giant song "see you in my dreams", so I went to the local $5.00 used CD store and bought "the last of the runaways"......Well, the entire CD is pretty darn good. Some are better than others as is the case with most CD`s, but overall, they have an incredible sound. The Guitar work is outstanding, and Huff has a nice voice as well. There seems to be much overlaying of sounds, but it is nicely done. Definitely one of the best undiscovered Bands out there.
What a Melody of 80's Rock !!! I believe, Whenever any music lover would listen to this, Even he / she would dream for those INNOCENT DAYS And his / her love !!!
One of my all time favorites from a one hit wonder. First heard on Mark and Brian on KLOS FM LA.....a VERY LONG time ago......great lyrics, good song....too bad the egos got in the way of some good music.......
This is also my favorite GIANT song ever. Too bad their timing wasn't better. They arrived just as the fairly lame grunge movement was about to take over. Pure quality group that should have been huge.
Style and genre dosent have to do or choose what people wants to lissen to! I think ints crap. Like todays radio pop plastic mainstream shit., Its worse than ever. But do I lissen to that. NO! Bands and people doesnet have to care about the time of the genre. Fuck everybody else and do your thing. thats why some of those bands succed. But Rock and this type of AOR Rock is very hot agian., and Giant is back again with new material! ¤¤ Let the Good times Rule!!
I agree there was quite a few bands that came too late conclude late in that era of music that were very viable musicians musicians and it's really sad when the Seattle grunts came in thanks to Kurt Cobain but cobain not that that's a bad thing but I loved and missed so much that eighties music I lived the eighties in Denver, Colorado mercado as well as being a musician and toured in those days God-bless the 80 music
Yeah you're right, friggin grunge distroyed a lot of great bands too. All about timing but these guys nailed it. Listen to the lyrics here. They're up there with ANYTHING. Natural, raw, powerful, full of hope, love so say no more. Quality
Criminally underrated , unsung & brilliant band!
i totally agree! I was lucky to find this album in Paris, because in Italy nobody knowed them and still dont... im astonished
Indeed they should be way more prominent .fantastic band with Killer songs
way overpdocued makes em sound like hall and oates, that means gay
@@pound7816 What a stupid comment.
Its criminal how underrated this band is.
Dan Huff and the boys were a phenomenal band. They never got the recognition they deserved. 4 and the 5 amazing musicians.
Please bring me back to the time that music was REAL! Nothing today is real! THIS IS!
The 80's, Lived It, Loved It, Miss It.
Man this song could have been played on Baywatch maybe even ! ❤😮
Such a talented and professional band. Still love this album and Time to burn. Songs that you could sing along with. Absolutely brilliant.
Giant was a kick ass band. Great vocals, searing Guitar.. some very talented guys. Their music transcends... Crank it way up!
What’s incredible about Dan Huff is that if he didn’t sing, you’d still objectively say he was one of the best guitarists of the 80s. 100% Agree with everything you said!
Giant's first album is a masterpiece!
I've listened to the Huff brothers since the early White Heart albums..
A very underrated band. Giant Rocks!
Badass guitar work
For sure I'm with all of you guys out there, this was a severely underated group 🤔
So Energic
Music played with passion and feeling .Not the crap of electronic music today doesn' t give any emotions like this !!!!!
One of best hardrock bands ever existed on earth
AWESOME!!! I never understood why this band wasn't much more successful.
They weren’t “more successful” because of timing. They showed up when grunge first appeared.
It was on the record companies. They were pushing Grunge as the new thing. Most Grunge bands sucked. Giant didn't.
As far as I'm concerned grunge music suck a**.
They are still ahead of the time 2023.? Baby 2099
This album is still my favorite from 1989!!!
Melodic Rock masterpiece
One of the best super bands ever formed ! 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️🔥
One of the best guitarists of all time
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, GUYS.
As a band, GIANT really did have the magic. This album is like the last mile marker before the pavement ended and the aor scene went to Hell.
Last of the runaway, Up from the ashes, Double eclipse, Mr Big, Winger...damn late 80'- early90' were so good
Good friends guys always
After 28 Years still givin me Goosebumps......Great
Dan Huff just a monster on the guitar 🎸
I got the CD The Last Of The Runaways today as a birthday present from my husband and I am HOOKED on it big time...Giant was so overlooked back in the day...I wish there was a way that we could do a do over cause these guys kick major ass.
Love it when songs become timely again! The words apply very much in 2022!
Still love this song after all these years. Dann Huff is such an underrated genius.
He worked with some big names like Michael Jackson to Taylor Swift. The guy just lay too low 😂😂😂😂
Last of the runaways is one of my all time favorite albums and also an aor essential produced by the aor legend himself Terry Thomas
Man, one of THE albums of the 80's!! Just released a little too late due to the change of styles. Still brings a smile listening to the album; flawless!
Well said.. Couple years too late to get the credit they're due! Several great songs!
You are so right. The record companies were pushing grunge. Giant had real talent.
Almost 1990, released in 89.
These guys. What I wouldn't give for a reunion, both an album and a tour.
One of the best albums of the 90s.
Ahhh the days when hard rock made you feel on top of the world..
IslandSoundz you said it. I lifted weights in my garage to those songs...Songs that made you feel like you could lift an earth mover to save someone’s life. Ha!
Ron Ward I feel you brother I remember those days lifting weights knowing its Friday nite n gonna hit the beach .. Good Times pal
Triumph comes to mind....
so right...

Great Song. Dann Huff is a genius.

Giant has always been my favorite band!! Every song is just great - vocals, music arrangement and delivery!! I wore my tape out listening to the 'last of the runaways'!
My daughter would ask what a tape is..
Geez I'm old
This song is fantastic. Great album.
Dan Huff is a freakin' monster on guitar !

Peter Howarth great band . ! Adam (Airrace) great song.
Peter Howarth How awesome! What talent they are! The 80s were the best!!
Adam Payne Shaft of Light is one of my favourite aor albums of all time.
Peter Howarth one of the best album ever made you’re a lucky chap and it should be a honor being apart of this awesome album
Giant faded to fast, its a shame we weren't able to hear more from this talented group!
This great song came about during a lowwww point in my life, it explained dynamics perfectly.
I survived.
What a great album this was. These guys deserved more play
Great song by a far underrated band!
Yes THOSE were the innocent days for sure. Early 90s were spectacular. So was the music.
...never retuuurn, till love take uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuss home!!!
the chorus is fantastic!! As the whole song, as the whole band.
Dann Huff is currently a highly sought producer and session guitarist in Nashville, rocks loss is countries gain
+mark vetter I agree i listen to Giant all the time from Liverpool there is no substitute for quality.
I've always loved this soñg,
Dann Huff won the CMA Musician Of The Year last night
As he should have !!!
조용필 추억이 잠든거리 ㅜㅜ
Great song by Giant.
This WHOLE ALBUM is Awesome, I like almost every tune!!!
These guys were so underrated. Probably because they weren’t the greatest lookers, like Poison, or Bon Jovi for example.
motley crue i do rate and cinderella they are the real deal agree about other bands
It's because they started out right on the tail end of good music...shitty grunge was starting to get popular, and it caused them to be overlooked. Winger had the same issue.
@@StormsparkPegasus Yes your right. If this song was recorded in let’s say 1985, that would have been really good timing.
Visions, our love is a series of visions
A taste on my lips, a whispering word in your ear
Oh passion, we're children just playing with passion
Losing our grip, falling asleep at the wheel
Still we hold on to the bitter end, thinking we can never lose
Baby it's a cold night and the winds of change are blowing
And these are the innocent days
Standing on the rocks, waiting for the tidal waves
Dreaming of love, but living inside the lands
And these are the innocent days, I know we're the last of the runaways
Never return, till love takes us home
Lover, we're drowning our doubts in each other
Closing our eyes, we bury the truth in the sand
I cannot take it, 'cause when we don't feel it, we fake it
Oh someday these nights come back to haunt us again
Oh we lie here at the water's edge, wishing we could float away
'Cause it's too late to turn back, when the only bridge is burning
And these are the innocent days
Standing on the rocks, waiting for the tidal waves
Dreaming of love, but living inside the lands
And these are the innocent days, I know we're the last of the runaways
Still we hold on to the bitter end, thinking we can never lose
Baby it's a cold night and the winds of change are blowing
Oh they're blowing, they're cryin', they're cryin'
And these are the innocent days
Standing on the rocks, waiting for the tidal waves
Dreaming of love, but living inside the lands
And these are the innocent days, I know we're the last of the runaways
"Dreaming of love, but living inside the lands" should read "Dreaming of love, but living in silence"
"CRYING these are the innocent days"
Excelente banda, pero como todo en la vida, influyen otras circunstancias independiente de la excelencia, en ellos el tiempo en que aparecieron, les jugó en contra, de otra forma ,no cabe duda alguna que habrían sido ENORMES.
Immortal song...
Another Great Band.Victims of the Grunge scene..
This song should be in a movie.
I used to have to vigour of these people. People LIVE before you get too old.
Brilliant band. Should have been bigger...
They all have gained weight lately.
The 80`s..., the best season, the best Music
