I am an older gal and I understand that many makeup artists say not to contour over 50. I would love to see what Matthew would do with a mature face. I love his view on make up! When we do make up, we're always thinking about light/dark, about highlighting or darkening certain points of your face.

My best tip from Matthew was when he told me to hold a mirror by my chin and then look down, to see the shadow above the crease of my eyelid, where the shadow should go. I appreciate that you chose a model who didn't already have highly defined cheekbones. Can't wait to get out my brushes and do some sculpting.

I've never been able to learn so must whilst watching just one masterclass video. It was the epitome of professionalism and proper education of what makeup truly is. Matthew VanLeeuwen- I don't know if you will be able to read all of these comments, however, I hope in some way this can reach you. My grandfather was a production designer Germaine Monteil and Revlon for over 60 years in New York. He was part of the Fire & Ice and Cherries in the Snow collections. He loved makeup as an art form, and I know he would have admired your work and techniques. He passed away many years ago, but when I watched this I felt him right here with me. Monika, thank you so much for your magnificent channel. xx

Matthew is a TRUE makeup artist. We have gotten so far away from this type of artistry in the RUclips beauty world. It really illustrates the skill set and knowledge it takes to create something of this caliber that enhances beauty. This is so refreshing, especially when compared to RUclipss saturation of the forever winged out eye and extreme highlighting that in real life and face to face showcases pores and texture (no matter how great the skin is) that can be seen from space. Admittedly I don't know much about Matthews career but I'm definitely going to 'stalk' him on social media and whatch your other video you made with him- I adore the way he explains the reasoning behind the steps and his process- it makes me think about makeup in a completely different way! Almost reminds me of when I came across Mary Greenwell for the first time and she made me completely change my mind about skincare and the base!

Thank you for this video, Monica and Matthew. I learned so much. I have definitely being contouring and highlighting incorrectly, but this video just made so much sense (the whole chiarascuro technique made things click for me). And the model you used has a very beautiful and interesting face, and stunning eyes.
For the people making petty comments about the model, please go and get some therapy/some manners/a bit of class -
whatever is applicable to you. I don't know how your parents raised you, but it's completely inappropriate, and not to mention ridiculous, to criticise the model, especially over eye shape, the positioning of her mouth, her weight. Not only is it offensive to the model, but it is an insult to Matthew and Monica who obviously put a lot of work into the video.
