It's SO over for Williams

- Williams seem to be the F1 Team that can't return to their former glory. The team have been force to make some tough decisions so far during the 2024 F1 season, and Logan Sargeant could be driving in his final season in Formula 1. Williams were once a strong force in the sport but even since new owners took over the team the legendary Frank Williams started, progress seems underwhelming. Despite the positives we have seen from Alex Albon, Williams are still a struggling outfit. Enjoy!

You really need to chill on the clickbait titles 😮💨🤣
His whole channel is basically click bait or cringe thumbnails, yawn
@@Carbonfiree it is sad cause he has fun content.
Agreed
@@Carbonfireeeveryone on RUclips has done this at some point in their channel history. It’s nothing new.
@@sqweeps.03 yes, and it doesn't help the algorithm doesn't promote normal content that isn't clickbaited but "at some point in their channel history", his entire channel is clickbait, not just a few videos.
Funnily enough the cost cap is their undoing. The very thing that was supposed to rescue them.
The amount spent on repairs is nothing compared to how much less the top teams have available to spend.
It's been a blessing and a curse. A blessing, because it means that Mercedes, Ferrari and anyone else can't spend ridiculous amounts to outdo Red Bull, a curse because Red Bull are in the next state when it comes to racing.
Cost caps never work. Football fans who have seen financial fair play (ffp) know this
@@Visual_Ghoul This has absolutely nothing to do with other teams or repair costs. Williams thanks to Doriltan has the money but because of the budget cap they can't spend it. They have to decide between factory or car upgrades and Vowels very openly said that the factory is decades behind.
@@Bruhyeet42069 Capital infrastructure doesn't come up under the normal cost cap. Its a different cap.
I enjoy a lot of your videos, but this is low effort clickbait.
No disrespect to the late Frank Williams, he started a team with star drivers, a team that would later win drivers and constructors titles in the 1980s and 90s. Frank had his flaws and it reflected in their performance, losing Adrian Newey and losing a factory BMW partnership in the 2000s and for years, the team was underfunded, losing out big time in the aero department. The arrival of James Vowels is great, but Williams as a team aren't quite there yet.
Well yeah but it's also up to James to tell team owners that the tech Williams has is just that outdated
WW2 Era wind tunnel is nuts
Frank wasnt perfect but it was thanks to him and Patrick Head that we still have a williams on the grid and not just a memory like lotus and Brabham
@mawile3037 Yeah especially the Excel spreadsheets, not to mention their outdated facilities at their Grove factory like you said.
Well said. By the way, Frank did not start a team with star drivers. He started as a privateer in the 60s, buying customer cars and funded his team by working as a door-to-door salesman. Those days are long gone, as the video indicates.
They simple need time
I disagree. The worst is behind Williams and they honestly wouldve gone out of business 5 years ago if they didnt carry the name "Williams". First, Im putting a lot of faith into James Vowles. I know he sounds like an AI bot most of the time, but he's a really strong Team Principal, imho. He's is working thru a lot of organizational issues that are hurting the on track product in the short term but by addressing them now, they will be solved and they will be better prepared to make a proper F1 campaign in seasons to come. They were way behind on 2024 car cause they were converting the factory organization from 20 year old excel spreadsheets to a proper high end computer inventory systems. They wont be caught out without a spare chassis again. Theyll have Albon back paired with probably Kimi Antonelli next year so that has potential as a driver's lineup. The Doraton Capital money will allow them to max out the budget cap. Williams remains an interesting team to follow to see if they can bring it back from the dead!
Exactly, they need time, they will climb up again
No VOWLES already said they won’t take any Merc rookies anymore now they have their own Williams academy drivers, 2 in F2 and 2 in F3. Logan is also a Williams academy driver
Dorilton Captial are basically waiting to cash in, the team has tripled in value since they bought it.
Mate they've literally said there building for 2026 pure cickbait
It's a straight lie...
No it's not... Go watch James on the high speed podcast or whatever it's called. He said flat pit he doesn't give a shit about 2023 2024 kinda cares about 2025 and really cares about 2026. He said he's building for the future not right now. They're too far behind and he wants a team and facility ready to smash 2026. @@NotSamuzed0o0
I don't think it's over. Williams are taking a HUGE hit right now, akin to Honda in 2008. However, it's all in preparation for a better time of it come 2026.
Also I would have to respectfuly disagree with you as 2023 proved to be a very good year for them. Alex was able to score points at tracks they weren't expecting to and things looked positive. It'll get better, but not before a huge bout of pain.
I also agree, 2023 was good for them
Yeah this was a very knee jerk reaction by Pers, maybe just for clickbait?

Its all over for Danniel Ricciardo..

@@ennote91 Haha, this word was fun! 😆
It seemed yeah, it is. His time at McLaren looks like changed his driving.
100%. The same for Lewis too.
Clearly bringing williams kicking and screaming to modern standards will take time, hopefully this year is the last year drastic system overhauls are needed and then real progress can be made
Exactly
HOT TAKE:-
Most of the fans support the drivers nowadays instead of the teams.
Meanwhile, Alpine is almost certain to finish dead last with zero points.
Alex said early on that driving for Williams this year is like switching to a brand new team so I've looked at both drivers with that perspective. Between the overheating, the instability, the steering wheel with a mind of its own, the patch work on the chassis, all the wrecks from both drivers...it just seems like a lot of the issues are because of the team and the car they produced. I still believe it'll be painful in the short term for long term success, but it's hard to watch
I do worry for Williams future. It's not a great feeling seeing them struggle like this with the heritage they have.
I agree with the comments calling for you to stop the click bait, it made me stop watching for a while even, don’t chase away your audience like this, your views and perspectives are great to hear about and you articulate them amazingly however the clickbait REALLY ruins it…… sad
They should have gotten Nyck de Vries instead of Logan. He was good in the Williams. And is one of the best it terms of Technical imput. All teams said that about Nyck.
God no.
You realize that that track was KNOWN to be good for the Williams cars? It wasn't a Schumacher tier performance, though he did do decently. He performed about the same with a worse car as Ricciardo has with the 6th best during his time in the RB
Nyck was a bad driver, accept it. I’m Dutch but, no not for F1
The fact that Williams is running the team into the ground so quickly after Sir Franks passing is so damn sad.
Why say he isnt built for F1 yet the reason he fell back was his own team calling him into the pits at the wrong time and messing up his pitstop? He was running in 11th before something else entirely out of his own control happened to him. Atleast he isnt breaking chassis in FP1…
Exactly
Because he‘s by far the worst driver on the grid
I mean JV's been there for barely a year, 2023 was the first year ever in F1 for one of their drivers and their new CTO, Fry, joined late last year. The FW46 was late and didn't push the envelope quite as much because they not completely re-thought their process for designing cars but also the logistics and operations of how they do so. JV was getting the lay of the land last year, this year feels like he's setting up the things in place. Next year is what feels to me that will be the "make it or break it" year
Vowles literally sis she doesn't give a fuck about 2023 2024 or 2025 he's building a team, facility, and culture for 2026.
Exactly!
First and i know its not the topic but i understand the purpose of street circuits in f1 i think its easier for fans to get to the street circuits because they are public roads and if it comes to purpose build tracks like magny cours the location is extremely hard to get too unless you live in the villages nearby same with Hockenheim and many other purpose build tracks.
I think it's going to be at least another year before James Vowles really starts to turn things around.
From what I've heard, one of the sources of Williams' woes is that a lot of their internal processes around the design and production of cars were years out of date - apparently they were still using Excel spreadsheets for parts inventories!
It's going to take time for Williams to get their shit together. Hopefully the money won't run out by then.
20years out of date…
Williams just need time, it’s a long term project to make it a midfield team let alone a top team. Come the end of 2026 if they haven’t improved that’s the time to point fingers. But it certainly won’t be James Vowel’s fault.
I dont really understand how Logan can be blamed for really anything this season. Average quali gap is about 0.1s, he had less crashes than albon, and wouldve equalled albons best finishing position had williams not f-ed up that pitstop.
As a Ferrari fan this is why we are so damn hard on our team. People may think sacking Binnotto was so harsh because he still got P2 but it´s those kinds of decisions that stop Ferrari from collapsing to a midfield backmarker team like Williams, McLaren and now even Mercedes is looking pretty mid
The problem is they're not getting any time to breathe - they had a really bad winter and it was then straight into racing. I reckon they'll improve after the Summer break, but it won't be until next year that their work pays off.
Well said. This echoes my painful memories of the Tyrrell team.
Strategy and the awful pitstop ruined Logan's day.
It was over for Williams the year they decided to run a red livery
chill out with the clickbait, we're just 4 races into the season. let james cook, wait and THEN use all the clickbaity titles you want when the season is almost over
MMMMMMMM, THAT THUMBNAIL SHOULD BE aLBON, HE[S THE ONE WHO HAS ACTUALLY CRASHED BOTH CHASSIS
I gotta wonder with how this season has started for Willams, what is Vowles' thought process, three crashes in two weeks, two of which has involved the more experienced driver, a team that is playing 20 years worth of catch up to now F1 times. I know in an podcast the man said he liked a challenge but damn still must be rough for him.
Sargeant needs to go ASAP
I can't cheer for a team if the cars don't finish a race or qualifying without crashing.
Dude woke up and chose to punch down
If its over for WIlliams then whats is it for Alpine
I think Alpine are equally done too! I could easily see both Dorilton Capitol and Renault pulling the plug and selling up. Does Renault (Alpine) want to stay in for the new 2026 technical regulations and see if they can capitalize on a pecking order reset or just sell to Andretti ASAP while Alpine are still worth around $900M. On the other hand, Dorilton should just sell Williams now to one of the other teams who tendered their interest in F1 to the FIA.
JV knew they would be behind as they had to revamp their outdated inventory system.
Exactly
Williams used to be great because Frank invested in innovation. A huge part of that was Adrian Newey. They were already way past the innovating stage of their legacy when it became non-family/corporate, but there was no real path to the front without a radical change in philosophy.
Williams DID NOT INVEST IN INNOVATION, that’s their issue now! The factory is 20 years behind in innovation… 20years…. Every part of the factory, all equipment….
It is sad that Williams F1 team had lost the ascent of Frank William back in the days when they were a beast 😔
4 of 24. I’m going to wait a few more races before coming to any conclusions.
Williams had a strong team with bottas and Massa but they went for money and didn't renew the Massa contract. After that it went downhill
People complain so much about boring races. Maybe if we stop putting pay drivers in and actually put some talent we would have some good races.
I wish Logan finds a bit of success
He was running in 11th until williams had a bad pitstop call
Williams is everyone's second-favourite team ... it's very sad to see their current predicament, especially if you're of the age (like me) who watched F1 in the 80s and 90s ... Williams were a huge team and knew how to win races and win championships ... I really, really hope that this rut isn't the end of the team and that they make a strong return.
wdym i've never liked them, they're my favorite team direct competitors so i've always wished failure on them
Who's everyone? I never cared about Williams that much.
"Williams is everyone's second-favourite team" uhm i don't think so friend.
@@Lora_Beolab Really? ... well, you must be making a mess in your pants by now.
@@Lora_Beolab And what team is that just wondering
They got 7th last season which was a big improvement relative to recent years. To expect them to quickly climb up is naive IMO. F1 is a tough sport. Look at Mercedes and all their talent and capital. Even they fell behind. If Williams can secure 6th this season that would be great. It will be really tough since RB is looking decent (maybe getting IP help from parent Redbull🤔).
I don't see Williams ever getting back above 6th best car unless they partner with a big manufacturer
I was with you everything you said until you mentioned Montoya.
What about Riccardo...? Is he done...?
I have to respectfully disagree, but to each their own
No idea why they kept Logan at all
Always knew Rothmans had secret ingredients \m/
What worries me the most about williams are their drivers, not only Sargent, but the ones who are on the pipelines, no one exciting and they really need good drivers, Pourcahire i think would be a perfect fit, with a guy like him, what happen at Melbourne, just wouldnt happen!
Williams have 2 in F2 and 2in F3. Browning already won Macau last year.. HE IS A GREAT TALENT. And O’Sullivan is doing great in F2. I watch F2 and F3 each training, Quali and race for years now. They need an experienced driver like Albon and a rookie from their own academy to get trained by the experienced driver. At least Williams give their rookies a seat in their team…..
@@Redlingstein I also watch F2 and F3, O'Sullivan is the one closer to be in F1, right? Do you think he would do much better than Sargent? maybe he will i don't know, its just my opinion!
Albon crashes in Australia, Sargeant can't race because they gave Albon his car, Sargeant crashes the damaged car in Japan, Albon crashes the good car... I still feel sympathetic for both the drivers and the team tbh
SARGEANT didn’t crash in Japan, he went in the gravel and drove off
The last part tho
they just need to get rid of Sarge. he ain't cutting it in F1. albon is doing decent, team isn't shit atm and can score points. Will they ever be at the top again? doiubtful. but im sure they can navigate around the midfield.
cant even look at the camera
Willians fell for the sunk cost fallacy with logan. Also now treating him like shit
And Mercedes is swiftly following suit
Andretti Fi has a couple spare chassis for them 🤣😭
You yust being dramatic. Williams gambeled and lost without the spare chassis. They are not the only one without. The difference is the others didn't crash. The jump you speak of off isn't possible yet. Your disapointment is premature. It is not possible anymore to throw money at a problem.
I'm beginning to get annoyed with the coverage. Riccardo, crashes once and all youtubers are "HIS CAREER IS OVER" or like Williams gets run into this week "OMG WILLLIAMS ISNT MAKING PROGRESS FIRE EVERYONE" or most annoyingly George crashed last time out and "GEORGE WASHED" then he does good this week and youtubers are like "GEORGE IS SECOND COMING OF CHRIST JESUS" I like f1 youtube but there is a ton of making garbage out of non stories
Hear hear
They were going in the right direction under Jost Capito, shame he stepped aside
No he wasn’t allowed to cut the cord and change the whole factory….James has free reign…
They’re not over, they need a new driver and some infrastructure upgrades.
They ARE INNOVATING AT THE FACTORY…. That’s why they only have 2 chassis… they can’t do it all at the same time
Not as over as Daniel Ricciardo
Find a better drivet than Logan. Yeah his chassis is currently damaged but his pace has always been garbage before hand.
the last podium finish for Williams was by LANCE STROLL
yeahhhhhhhhhh
Logan never deserved to be in f1. He wasn’t even top 3 in the f2 championship the year before he joined

It's been a rough decade plus for us ferrari fans (and probably those that like mclaren), but at least I'm not a fan of Williams.
1997 seemed centuries ago now.
The fall of williams started with mercedes andfo end itthey should seek Honda for engines in future
Alex hasn’t been great either
Stop these bs vids man… you should’ve informed yourself that their focus was on changes IN THE FACTORY to get more development done. That’s why they didn’t have a 3rd chassis. They have to make choices COS OF THE COST CAP…
And ….. you should ALSO KNOW that 2 other teams ALSO don’t have a 3rd chassis with them at the tracks…
Those teams ofc keep that quiet…but F1 knows it.
The cost cap, the ongoing developments….. teams have to sometimes decide between 2 important parts…
Nobody expects heavy crashes, and they DO NEED developments and updates.
Williams will be great again...if teams like BMW got back in the picture
LOL .. when the views are in bin and you have to resort to clickbait ... also isn't this the same guy who keeps hyping useless drivers and teams pre season and then season starts and all his arguments go to tr@$h 😂
Nah, I'm not on board with this. Maybe it's just a load full of copium, but Williams is on the up and up, they're just lacking the facilities. If they can be allowed to catch up on the infrastructure side, they'll be back in it, I truly believe that. They have more money than they've ever had, they are building a solid team, and it's just a matter of time. I think the costcap is built to benefit teams like Williams and it's just a slow burn. These last two weeks were ugly, so what? No spare cars and the second driver (who I really am rooting for) is shitting the bed and pretty much signing his resignation letter this season. Alex is capable of much better than he has shown, I think the car is a bit of a handful judging by both drivers' comments on setup since Bahrain.
This is a team working hard and has had promising flashes, they're fine.
No bad luck just bad driving especially from team leader Albon , he has been terrible this season. Alpine are the same no spare but their drivers are idiots like Albon. I expect it from Sarge he is learning. Alex has wrecked two tubs.
Is there any chance that Andretti could buy Williams?
No. Not for sale. And Andretti couldn’t afford it
clickbait. zero value commentary
Nah... this is a L take. Give Vowels some time man.

I’m tired of people dogging Logan but giving Albon a pass for everything
This is the second race in the row where Albon has destroyed the car, (yes I know Suzuka wasn’t his fault)
But yet people will still dog on Logan
Hey bozos, Alex and Logan are level on points
Logan isn’t destroying the race car every single race, he spun in FP1 but didn’t destroy the car
Albon needs to get the same criticism that people kill Logan for
Fair enough but today’s incident wasn’t exactly Albon’s fault
@@MadeByPerspectiveI know
It’s was 100% Danny Ric’s fault
But my statement still rings true
The car still ended up in the barriers.
Alex and Logan both have to drive unlike any other driver out there and that is Williams fault
@@TakingyoutojailI dont think its even 100% on Danny. Its just two cars colliding, Stroll was a bigger threat so Danny focused on him, and Albon was even completely on the track going into the corner so he shouldve known the gap was going ti close. Its just a clumsey incident of two drivers making costly mistakes.

i really wish they were doing better in this season, their history is incredible and it is sad to see it all get washed down the drain in recent years : (
With JV, they finally have someone who's putting the behind scenes things in place. His sophomore year with the team, and they have a long way to go, but it's correcting the behind the scenes to build a future. LS isn't helping their place on the grid either, replacing him for next year with nearly anyone would be an improvement.

NO Offence to the lady but the down spiral started when Frank William's daughter took the charge .
I’d say that is just correlation, I think that the real causation was that the team haven’t had the funds to improve the infrastructure across the team
@@crazychimp1324 you should wonder why they haven't had what others had . you can look up interviews from that period , she just mumbles about how glorified their past was etc. little did what for present .
Things really started to go south when Williams didn't bring a spare chasis even though the driver that caused the most damage to their car last year is in their team. Yeah go and support a young driver, but at the very least have the needed contingencies to know that this guy can make mistakes.
I think not having Logan race is harsh but also logical given where the team is and the gap between Alex and Logan, but the bigger question would be asking how did they even get in this position in modern F1 where it now looks like they're living race to race with their chasis.
I do hope Williams gets it together near the middle of the year like in 2023, but the chasis problem alone already suggests otherwise.
