This is the best diy crane/jib that I have seen around youtube. Congratulations for your excelent work and thanks for sharing this video. We're waiting for those test shots.
Wow I was thinking of similar idea for the mechanism using bicycle wires as I myself thinker allot with my bikes and have spare parts. However where did you place the ends of the cables? As they need to be attached together to become a loop yet have space for them to move freely and not get stuck.
There's no need for the cables to be in a loop, you're only turning the pulley a short distance. They only need to go around half the pulley. The pulleys are in 2 halves (5mm thick acrylic joined to make a 10mm thick pulley) with a hidden channel running through them where the cables go and are clamped by pinch bolts. If you pause the video at 1:37, you can see 2 protruding screws on the pulley (above and below the handle) These are the pinch bolts which are clamping the end of the cables. So, the cable you can see at the top runs about halfway round the pulley then disappears into a channel within the pulley and through the pinch bolt. If you go to www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?310826-Another-DIY-Jib! you can see some photos of the jib in a bit more detail. You'll have to register with the website to see the pics

Hello ! I have a question : How did you make the pivot ? How did you put the bearings to make a smooth movement ? Otherwise Great job ! it looks so pro :)
Hi there! So there are 2 bearings in the pivot, one is just a 'lazy susan' bearing but that alone wouldn't have been enough to prevent the pivot breaking under the load so there is also a thrust bearing where the bolt runs through the pivot mount. The thrust bearing needs to be there otherwise the bolt that holds the pivot to the tripod would stop the pivot rotating after securing. You can see where it secures in my other video from 0:40. I would buy this if it were available. Best I have seen. You might have spent £300 so far, but how many hours have you invested in this? I would keep your plans and patent them. I like the duck too! :-)
Wow, nice design, nice execution. FYI, you can grab a copy of 'Audacity' and in 20-30 minutes clean up your audio track and remove every er, uh and erm. I use it myself for voiceovers because I'm guilty as well !
I don't know what editing programme you use, but most allow you to do a voice over providing you have some sort of mike. You can either remove or reduce to zero the original sound track and replace it with the new voice over. Hope this helps. Barry.
You don't need a counterweight for the tilt. All you need to do is make sure the camera's CG is perfectly centered around the tilt axis, then effort will be zero. By removing the counterweight, you can decrease the jib's main weights exponentially.
That's not a bad idea. It would have to be done so theres only enough chain to cover the range of motion and then each end of the chain attached to cable.
That's way to epic for words, amazing work !!!

Is it possible to have plans of this crâne ?
Can you explain the way the handle works or is asking for too much info?
Where in the UK are you based? I'm a film maker North West based, we have a 12 foot Hauge jib which only has built in Tilt, which is hugely limiting, but this one is amazing! If you are based in the North I'd love to see it/use it some time!
Very Nice work !!! I see that you have alot of attention to detail :) I take it that you might be selling these? If so let me know how much
Cheers John
Now That Professional.
Are the plans for this available to buy?
This is amazing! Great work! Would be cool to see some test shots if you ever get around to it! you thinking of hiring it out?
Hello, Could you tell me what kind of used aluminum
Is excelent work sir ... how is the price ... you have a price? God bless you
Fantastic job on the jib - very professionally finished. Will you be marketing this or making the design available for the DIY crowd? Looking forward to the next video. I have my CNC standing by...:-)
DID ANYTHING EVER COME OF THIS? JUST A GREAT DESIGN! I WOULD BUY ONE FOR SURE
Can I order from you the cut plastics and a parts list of things I will need to assemble.
Nice work 👍
Very nice work .... I like
How much did it cost to make this? And did you use motors?
Hi, it cost me just over £400 to make. There are no motors involved. It's all mechanical.
***** thanks for the response!
Hi I would lie to know how I would go about you making me a jib like this please contanct me.
hi i am from Australia and i am planning to make a camera jib like yours but from metal and i need to put a pan/tilt head on it and i was wondering if you could make one for me and maybe we can work something out, it is for a school project. thanks
i don't speak english but congratulations, what is the price for this?
I would buy this if it were available. Best I have seen. You might have spent £300 so far, but how many hours have you invested in this? I would keep your plans and patent them. I like the duck too! :-)
good finish!
Wow, nice design, nice execution.
FYI, you can grab a copy of 'Audacity' and in 20-30 minutes clean up your audio track and remove every er, uh and erm.
I use it myself for voiceovers because I'm guilty as well !
Thanks! I'll look into it.
How much would it cost for you to make one and sell it because I don't have the access to all of the stuff that you use.
nice jib,, how much the price please?
we all want the plans :) very nice jib. are you an engineer?
Are u planning to do a more detailed tutorial? =)
Nope, no plans on doing a tutorial on how to make it. I'm planning on producing a DIY manual.
I don't know what editing programme you use, but most allow you to do a voice over providing you have some sort of mike. You can either remove or reduce to zero the original sound track and replace it with the new voice over. Hope this helps. Barry.
i have the Crane Jib 8 to 12 ft, but need the camera Tilt Head for Video Camera. how much is the cost please email me info
You don't need a counterweight for the tilt. All you need to do is make sure the camera's CG is perfectly centered around the tilt axis, then effort will be zero. By removing the counterweight, you can decrease the jib's main weights exponentially.
When will u make available the plans for this
Why not try bicycle chain and cog?
That's not a bad idea. It would have to be done so theres only enough chain to cover the range of motion and then each end of the chain attached to cable.
i am trying that.
Sahil Zafar HAHA i actually liked my own comment.. and commented it!
Brilliant!!
I hope you develop this further.
Subscribed and waiting for updates...
imovie should be fine. Thinking of selling the rig?
How much did it cost to make this?
