Thanks for the review on the non-DE version ! Virtually all the road tests on the new Strom are on the DE. I've got this standard one on order, after selling my GSX-S1000 GT (more comfort required for me and the missus!).
My pleasure bud, I think this would be a good choice for you, Suzuki really went up a gear on this bike and brought it up to the standard it needed to be with the tech. This bike is very comfortable, smooth and balanced but has plenty of go in it too! Enjoy your V Strom 1050
I sold my GSX-S1000 GT and bought a 2020 Standard Model - I love it - 500km rides, 3 day trips and I clean the bike when I get home as its so comfortable I'm not beaten up from the ride - I recently rode a GX and couldn't wait to get back on the Strom
I finally bought this bike, and 500 miles later, I absolutely love it. Coming from an older V Strom 650, the 1050 feels just as light, great and easily balanced at low speeds, and so smooth. Accelerating from 60 to 80+ mph is where I really feel the difference. Doesn’t feel like the engine is working very hard at all. I am most impressed with how light and easy if feels on any roads.
Thanks for the review. You actually rode through my village and I am looking at one of these with Bridge at the minute! It’s nice to see a review on my local roads.
Look at tonights video about used bikes and pause it when we look at the V stroms. They have a 2% APR offer on them at the moment. Honestly these are amazing bikes and have some Brilliant deals on them at Bridge at the moment. My advice is try the full range of the v stroms and pick your favourite
@@ontheroadadventure just put a deposit on the V Strom 1050 today. The road biased version is great for me. Suzuki are also throwing in heated grips and £750 of accessories at the minute. It’s a no brainier really.
@@TheMorlader A great deal and they have very low finance offers on currently too. Have you seen tonight’s video on the Benelli TRK 502 X? Now that thing is looking like a steal!
@@ontheroadadventure I got hooked on it a few years ago but waited because I wanted it in black and color screen, then DE came with everything and then some, spoked rims. Haven't test driven many, GS 1250, too expensive, too big and I don't like those protruding cylinders. I don't think the KTM 1290 looks very good, I have a few friends who own KTM, often messes with the battery, messes when starting and keyless messes too, don't want one. Suzuki, you get a lot of bike for the money and from a power perspective mine hangs with both, even pulling away from them in some situations despite less horsepower.

These are very good bikes, I couldn’t believe how good it was to be fair, I’m just not a fan of the looks which is a shame, but that’s just my personal preference. Maybe the bike almost good enough to forgive the styling! Seriously though, I highly recommend this bike
I'm on my 4th Strom having owned a pair of 2012 650 and 1000 flavors. Now have a 2021 650XT and 2021 1050XT. The simplest way I can describe the 1050 is that it does most everything extremely well with no drama or nonsense. Has basic bomb-proof electronics that even a geezer such as myself can easily figure out. Superb fit and finish...great MPG...max comfort...ease of maintenance and servicing...and one of the greatest engines in cycling history.
I cannot argue with any of that! The only reason for me I did not buy the V stron was the styling, but that is just a personal preference, the bike is amazing 👍
@@ontheroadadventureYes on styling. Even though my 650 is an attractive blue and my 1050 is, what I think, the really cool creamsicle color combo...they are not attractive bikes, to say the least.

Why are all these tourers SO Heavy?!....I had a SV1000S K5, same engine (in 996cc guise) made 118hp weighed 198kg ? Speed triple has 150hp weighs 189Kg dry. S1000R has 165HP & 199KG..I don't understand why, are they using steel in place of alloy? This Vstrom would be great if it was 200Kg & 120Hp. Can’t believe how many people go on about the windscreen like really I leave mine in the high position never been changed since new it’s all round fine maybe summer if I want to put it down no big deal put it down before you head off or at the next servo even when you need a toilet stop. Come on guys really.
@@ontheroadadventure That’s right and I don’t think it’s odd at all I had the electric one on my FJR and i barely used it.. I mean come on some bikes don’t even have windscreens like get over it or go buy something else for alot more money because it has a windshield up down switch.
lol, didnt realise theyd got that fat, 250kg is ridiculous when 20 years ago they weighed 200kg, might be ok and feel light when its moving. but not when you are trying to pick it up on a green lane FFS. Why? just why so heavy? makes no sense to me at all, cheers anyway mate, and good video, and bearing in mind the lack of failures so far on the standard clocks, I do always wonder how many of the TFT screens will still be working in 10 or 20 years 🙂
That is a valid point about the electronics and tech, at the rate these things become outdated you do wonder how the longevity of modern bikes will compare to old style bikes
