Like you I'm 6ft 5. I have been happily riding my 2021 Silver and Blue V Strom 1050xt and I love it. When I sold my previous bike I was interested in the Tracer 9 which would undoubtedly be a top bike but when I sat on the 1050xt I thought this just fits an old bloke of my height to a tee. Never regretted buying it. It's comfortable, wonderful smooth punchy engine, rides like a dream and handles really well too. So far it's the best bike I've ever owned in 45 years of riding bikes.
Despite being a year since you posted the video its still current. I have a 2019 Vstrom 650 XT its a great bike but i do like bikes that are 1000cc plus (ex Harley Rider and Blackbird). I only came across your post as i was looking at 1050 VStrom Reviews and up you popped! Nice video with sensible every day style riding which having a full licence sine 1982, its how i ride nowadays ar 60 years young.
I'm currently riding a BMW R1200GS and looking seriously at this bike I've enjoyed my BM but want to change for a cheaper machine with good 'quality'. I ride in the EU every summer and this fits the bill with cruise and torque. When the weather warms up I'll geta test ride
This is one of the first TLB videos I’ve watched, you ride lovely lines, were you professionally trained or an member of the advanced riders club. It’s nice to see someone that rides well
Great video Lofty & yes there great bikes. As you know I swopped my R1200r for my 1050XT which is the same bike minus the cast wheels, TFT dash, quick shifter etc but once i played with the suspension a but I didn't miss the BMW Active suspension at all. In fact of all the bikes I have had the 1050 was probably joint best bike, the only thing i didn't like was the seat BUT i might spend a bit more time in the saddle before a cake break than some my maxus glutus probably has a bit more ballast to carry than some too :-) ...... who knows if they sort the seat out never say never I might end up with one of these versions in the future & your right about the wheels, they will be a lot less PIA to clean than the spoke version ...
Thank You for the great review! I recently have the prevoius model DL1050 from 2021, and now considering to order the same model You have tested. Why? technically it has already been proven for me, but the new model has all the features ive been missing so far.. what are they? quick shifter, cruise control, and TFT. Plus the amazing experice of sitting on a brand new bike..
Great review thanks I have the XT version and I not going to trade it as I think its the sweet spot, lot of people need to realise the gs has a 19''[ front, the xt has spoked wheels the new DE version might have 21' front but its tubed for some reason only Suzuki can explain away where as the old XT has tubeless rims. its just really confusing to say they have up graded when the XT of old is clearly better than the standard vstrom 1050 latest , any way Im ranting lol no harm meant
How was the heat management? Nobody ever talks about it….so must be great? Wish we could get this color in the US! Think this is my next bike…. Finding then for 12.5 plus TTL in the states right now….NEW!
Sorry I didn't get the bike on a long term review only a morning. We do not get the high temperatures here in the UK. There are no discounts on the 24 model as yet.......thanks for watching
Thank you for a good test. I have a V-Strom 650. I am happy with it. I am considering a more powerful engine because my wife sometimes travels with me. But mostly I drive alone. I go on day trips, 150 - 200 km. I'm torn between the V-Strom 1050 and the NT1100, maybe the Vesrys 1000. What would you recommend? What would you choose? Thank you.👍
As an NT11000dct owner I am very partial to that bike.......I'mn not a big fan of the Versys, it's very tall and heavy....I really like the 2023 Vstrom it's a vast improvment over the 22.....that said there are some cracking deals to be had with the 22.....A test ride is the only way to decide.....thanks for watching
if you like the 650 strom you will love the 1050, having ridden the 1000 versys you might find the multi lack the character of the V twin, I found them quite bland & I used to be a big Kwak fan back in the day.
The 800DE (and the 1050DE) lose me at tubed wheels, there's absolutely no excuse for road biased bikes to have tubes IMO. BMW and Honda have realised this, Suzuki need to catch up and make all their bikes Tubless. The old XT models with spoked wheels were tubeless, so they've gone backwards for some reason (probably cheaper).
I'm pleased you can understand my "Black Country" accent. It is one of the stronger dialects in England......Even the sub titles struggle to translate it.....
Can u keep a couple of loaves in that bread bin aka exhaust?!!….awful….swap out straight away for something more streamlined and undoubtedly lighter!….great vid pal 👍😎
