Snakes are associated with real world alchemy, too. Their ability to shed their skin has been taken as a symbol of transformation and renewal in a lot of different cultures, as is the way their venom can be used to create antitoxin. And you can look at the serpent wrapped around the staff of Asclepius or the cobra headdress that symbolized a pharaoh's divinity in ancient Egypt to see other mystical or medicinal connotations. Not to mention the symbolism of the ourobouros, the snake that devours its own tail. Honestly, snakes would be my first pick for an animal to represent alchemy.
Lavos is an extremely close second to me as a 'main' its just so insane how much survivability and AOE you can get. While its not a huge area, the heat procs at the hundreds of thousands are all I need to see. The ability to enable ammo-dependent weapons is just icing on the cake
As a Lavos main, i had a lot of fun watching the video, and even learned some things i hadn't realised yet. Overall a very nice job, Nova! Truly, most people just dismiss Lavos and doesn't know his potential as a dmg frame. Now that being said, i think it's time to build some aditional copies of him. This gave me some fun build ideas.
I've always loved how Lavos plays. He's so much fun when you get that rotation figured out. Especially with the alt fire of Cedo mixed in. Just an absolute monster. I do wish he'd get some more skins though. Either official or tennogen. (actually I could say that thing about skins for a lot of frames that I really like.)
Lavos is one of the best new frames to be released (Mid 2022). I do love his kit & even more so with his signature weapon, I just wish Chroma got the same love...
The learning curves not that rough, I remember a dude picked him in the Steel Circuit once, said in chat he'd never used him, and by the end of 10 rounds was dominating lol. (And all I really told him was just to infuse Viral on every ability, then he one upped me by tipping me off that you could just hold the two elements to combine at once rather then doing one the other, tmyk, lol) His tankiness really shouldn't be undersold either. He won't hit the hyperbolic amounts of doublestack or triple stacking DR gates, but he can just chill in Archon Hunts or SP Kuva fortress or Copernicus pretty easily with an Arcane Grace and Adapation. With an occasional top off from his 1. Absolutely not caring about Energy also gives him a second arcane slot (which would usually be tapped for Energize or Steadfast) and he can pick up more silly damage from Madurai or go melee with Naramon. (You could argue Unairu for defense strip, but his ability to just dump status basically makes that unneeded unless you're facing status immune enemies (like the Plague Star Hemocyte) (I wouldn't really go for Arcane Blessing though, as Lavos only improves orbs, he doesn't make them. Though you can run with a companion to try and cover it) The Leverian does have odd contradictions in its lore though, such as Lavos being given his matter-rearranging power AFTER already being a Warframe. Outside of lore Reworks aside thats generally not how it works, and replications of the Warframe would be absent that additional power. With a hefty dose of unreliable narrator involved, it'd follow a more likely path that Lavos is Yavi and was converted into a Warframe, but the residual presence was able to affect his presentation. And the rest is just distorted myth.
I mainly picked blessing for more health (I was running mecha pulse alongside the full set) so I figured it be alright to slap on 2k+ health with over 1000% armor
This was the first frame I used a Umbral Forma on. He's got a really fun learning curve and I enjoy how he feels like a "traditional" MMO character in terms of managing cooldowns and damage that he can put it out and his rotations for throwing abilities. Easily one of my top 3 frames in game super great job
Really been loving lavos since I got him a few weeks ago. Haven’t put in the heaviest investment just yet, but man is he fun and pretty comfy in higher level stuff, and a go-to pick when I do sp survival farms and such and feel like playing a caster. Great overview of him, A frame I’ve really been loving learning about, the fella really does feel unique
As a LoL and FFXIV player (where rotation's and skill management matters) Lavos really clicked for me and immediately became my main. I couldnt understand why he wasnt used as much as other frames despite being very strong and after seeing this video now I understand why haha. Great work! This actually helped me become a better Lavos player
even without the Leverian, snakes have always made sense to me in context of an alchemist. Like far away in the woods an alchemist sits surrounded by nature. Having serpents seemed logical
Dude is just cool. Valence Formation ties his kit together really well now and he functions as a weapons platform with more tools than just numeric buffs. He could definitely use a QOL pass and some small number tweaks, but he’s far from garbage.
This video convinced me to try the lavos I had sitting in the inventory for a while. Solo steel path with lavos is definitely a ton of fun. Great Video!
Mecha Lavos is my second most fave Mecha build (first being Hildryn, third being Citrine). Really fun to play, though tiresome due to imbues. Hoping for some QoL in this regard. And I'm glad to see to not be the only one preferring to run without negative efficiency :>
Best QoL they could give him would be a vial in his arsenal akin to the mandachord, in which you pre-allocate elements to abilities in a way you'd normally use them, or set them up in different ways to swap between configs for each faction. Forgo the clunkiness in missions.
@@Still_not_saying Don't mention it, im just being honest. I learned English by myself so I often have to self policy when it comes to names like this so I don't end up saying it wrong too, so there's that

The idea that without the Laverian stuff the snakes would be "random" on the alchemist Warframe is insane, but I understand if Lavos being a Warframe depiction of Hermes Trismegistus is something you missed.
I unironically run Enemy Radar as an aura on Lavos purely because the situational awareness actually helps me better position for my abilities, which speeds up my rotation and boosts my damage output. And I can't think of any other frame where this matter that much, and I love it.
I stopped playing Warframe about 3yrs ago because i got a pc and dont wanna restart so im waiting for cross progress but when i did play Lavos was like in my top 3 frames. having a rotation is different from most frames and made him feel more like a MMORPG character

Lavos juat fit me. I always enjoyed status builds before because I am the type of player that enjoys debuffing. I honestly run a maximizes range build the most (while doing what i can to assure duration os over 100%). Pressing 4 basically means everything and anything now has two heat procs from archon vitality. Archon continuity is also p hilarious.
Lavos is almost unkillable if played right. He's so strong too. Some people don't get him. But I think he's awesome. He can handle any nightmare mode easily. A guy in my clan argued me down saying Lavos was utter garbage. Even did the, "yeah, ok bro 🤔" when i explained to him just how good he actually is. Yeah, theres a learning curve. But its not hard.
The whole snake thing also probably stems from the fact that snakes are also a symbol of healing in ancient Greece and even to this day it is depicted in most pharmacies, tied to Asclepius the god of medicine, the snakes venom combined with other ingredients produces an antidote which also makes them tied to the whole healing of lavos in his lore

My biggest gripe with Lavos (and Chroma too) is that, outside of a full catalyze rotation, none of abilities do anything substantial. They feel like they do an elemental proc first and then something extra. But WF isn't like a game like D2 where elemental effects are more substantial; most of them aren't really good outside of dmg or some utility, which I feel limits Lavos' ability loops, even if his 4 kills anything through armor. Chroma is like this too and it translates to him using only ice ward and vex armor.
I feel like he should've also gone into elemental weaknesses and resistances for each enemy type, since knowing them has a pretty big impact on using his abilities. For example, cloned flesh (AKA Grineer health) has a 50% damage reduction from gas, so you're better off just using heat, which has a 25% damage increase. 27:23 - No viral against Grineer is pretty sad, honestly.
I never learned how to manage the cooldowns and what elements to use on what abilities and also how to do it all fast , since uou have to hold the buttons. I just gave up on that, which is kind of a shame coz i do like the theme. Also, great fashion you got there. I had trouble colouring him.
fun fact: i personally take full credit for Lavos' ability design (i mean it jokingly but still a little seriously). On the forum post publicly requesting ideas for the frame that would become Xaku, i submitted a suggestion for a weather-based warframe, who could do a different element with each ability and combine them into the tier 2 elements. I forgot if it was on my PC or PS account that i posted on the forum post with, but i don't wanna self promo or anything in someone else's video. i could find the exact comment and link it if i was asked to, though, i'm certain.
The snake isnt too far fetched considering the rod of asclepius has been the symbol of scientific medicine, something the "alchemists" of the past were known for. Household remedies of sorts.
I absolutely love Lavos, ive always loved alchemy so when he was revealed i was hyped. Also using him to just hit the dmg ceiling is so entertaining. But could someone please tell how u where able to get that gorgeous galaxy slosh in your helmet pleaaase??

yo Umbra, i feel this vidd should be titled: how lavos transmutated warframe.
i need cedo rq for ma mecha lavos
lavos really is what chroma always wanted to be
I am just waiting for the lavos and cedo prime, i already have my riven
now with the new bond mods. its even crasier
You should do your fashion frames on your second channel
love the music
Im quite looking forward to seeing lavos prime and just generally more cosmetics for him, i dont like any of the alt cosmetics currently.
Ma boi finally gets some love

*UNFORTUNATELY*
Lavos mains let's goo
Let him cook.
-Lavos
The snake isnt too far fetched considering the rod of asclepius has been the symbol of scientific medicine, something the "alchemists" of the past were known for. Household remedies of sorts.
The archon mods make Lavos builds get real funny.
Nah I figured him out in 5 mins in duviri through trial an error.
GIVE ME MORE COMPLEX FRAMES
Lavos would be a 100 times better if DE made it so the elemental imbuement was permanent instead of having to do it for every cast
it is rather tedious and annoying
The Chroma treatment would've been fine; hell, even something akin to Equinox could've been more useful and less tedious.
Spicier title "How lavos pissed on warframe
I absolutely love Lavos, ive always loved alchemy so when he was revealed i was hyped. Also using him to just hit the dmg ceiling is so entertaining. But could someone please tell how u where able to get that gorgeous galaxy slosh in your helmet pleaaase??
Finally my bad joke comments paid off and I got the Lavos video 😉🥳
It's,,, it's pronounced Lah-vos, not Lay-vos.
Love the va11hallA music haha
Idk im still struggling on a frame that catches my eye with cool ability use thats has good cool AOE CC or whatever. With that said, Lavos has caught my eye. Also does is there other weapons to use with him, i see everyone using the cedo on em?
Epitaph, Hystrix or Kompressa are pretty good, for others Mutalist/Probo Cernos and Zenistar isn't bad
@@NovaUmbral okay thank you
Now does Catalyze’s dmg boost work with: Slash, Impact, etc. to give it more damage so would Glaive prime or other physical proc weapons?
