Remember that the Mercedes VISION EQS looked stunning and the proportions were very athletic.
The transition from concept to production was the most disastrous I can think of on top of my head.
I wouldn't hold my breath for the production version of the VISION CLA.
Just like in the EQS, it could have completely different proportions and just the graphics of the concept slapped onto the bodywork.
The VISION EQS is an excellent example of making a completely unrealistic prototype that could never translate into a good production design.
If they had to work with the production car's hard points to begin with in the design process, it would certainly have been completely different, so that seems like a very backwards way to design a car, in my opinion.

all my concerns here are just practicality. To make Bembli happy they've wasted 1/3 of the car's length on the hood and front overhang. Will this at least have a frunk that can hold 2 carryon bags then? The aerodynamics of the car must be very good, but will there be any headroom in the back for, you know, human heads? I did the look of the completely unfeasible open headlights that would fill with snow and debris constantly but assume they will just be under plastic. The fender lights look great. The "grill" looks silly and should be scrapped and redesigned. Interior has a ton of fun, and completely unlivable touches like enough chrome trim to blind the driver... but the hard points of the screen and open floor look very cool. Overall, they should scrap the ICE motor and fix the front-end proportions to give the humans another 3-6 inches of car to sit in and fix the concept car stuff and they'd have a very solid EV. It will also basiclly be a Model 3 at that point :-P

How can a manufacturer carrying the best legeacy on designing cars with themselves can create this disastrous, disgusting pile of crap? Shameful on M-B. For the first time ever, I COMPLETELY DISAGREE with you, Bembli.
This is the car I hate the most now, and it's for a reason; it's a Mercedes. It HAS to look great. And yet, they start a fight with BMW to decide which German car looks the worst. Nowadays, as a previous Merc and BMW lover, I have to say that Audi makes the best designs (although not all of their cars look great, good ones are the majority). Aside from Germans though, I would prefer IONIQ 5 for an EV buy and one of the Genesis made cars for an ICE buy; aside from any Mercedes or BMW. The dashboard and pedals look like they can be flipped from left to right hand drive very easily, with a UI remap and a new under dashboard mould!?

This is the concept version, the production CLA won't get those lights or that grill.

That thing looks like the definition of "car", and that is not a good thing... A mercedes NEEDS to look good and classy, a hyundai ioniq 5 looks better than that thing...

I like the shape but that front end is hideous. The illuminated front grille looks like someone took a Corolla and put a bunch of Aliexpress LED's on it.

If you changed the grill and the logo, it's almost identical the a VW Jetta

The 'concept car excess' is just annoying at this point. After decades of seeing concepts that look slick and a level above they never trickle that stuff down to the actual cars so they should just completely give it up at this point.

I’ve never understood the CLA. For a decently spec you’re already in C Class territory price wise. This one is hideous.

Mercedes even gave their ugly EQ design little special cuty names like One-Bow-Design and Cab-Forward-Design.
They are proud of their horrible designed EVs... It's beyond me.
May this gorgeous CLA be our saviour.

I said this already on the BMW concept video and I repeat myself agian: this ain't gonna happen cuz this is a car from a German automaker. They come out with ludicrous concept designs - ALWAYS - and then they always find their way back to make their cars as boring as the previous ones - ALWAYS. And Mercedes is going to do this for the second time now...
