Definitely looks better than the EQ mess. I agree it's due to the proportions for also being available with an ice. I like all the cars that are available both ways. All the BMWs that do are fabulous (i4, i5, i7, then the upcoming iX3 and iX4. Wish we could get the iX1 too.) I'm fine with sacrificing that little bit of range lost with the better design style.
Has lost it since the EQS, reliability left after the W140. BMW is angular ugly, Mercedes is bean-curvy ugly. Audi? They’re just Volkswagen. Genesis? Lexus but unreliable.

honestly, i have no problems with this specific model turning to this, bcs it's always seems like CLA in a position of finding it's self, finding the proper style and detail to that sloopy and curvy shape, and where their EV line up looks like a fail attempt on the oval-ly soap bar shape (atleast no where near as properly done as with the Lucid Air) this one have a potential to look actually decent, we'll see how well it translates to the actual production version

Finally a Mercedes EV with proper proportions. Furthermore, looking at the dash to axle ratio, this is probably the best proportioned CLA thus far. Makes me wonder, will the gasoline model have longitudinal engine?
@@chiefdenis they did a good job then. The previous ones was so cramped between the front axle and door hinge, makes it look econo-ish from the sides which is so jarring on such an otherwise beautiful car. This doesnt look bad at all in that area.
Remember that the Mercedes VISION EQS looked stunning and the proportions were very athletic. The transition from concept to production was the most disastrous I can think of on top of my head. I wouldn't hold my breath for the production version of the VISION CLA. Just like in the EQS, it could have completely different proportions and just the graphics of the concept slapped onto the bodywork. The VISION EQS is an excellent example of making a completely unrealistic prototype that could never translate into a good production design. If they had to work with the production car's hard points to begin with in the design process, it would certainly have been completely different, so that seems like a very backwards way to design a car, in my opinion.
The primary difference between the Concept EQS and production EQS is that they streamlined it to make it a full EV and that ended up killing the longer hood. This car is designed to have an engine, so it's not likely they'll shrink the front of the car to make it look like the bigger EQ models

@@Pabiadelcastell I did an internship in 2018 @ Mercedes and like all OEMs the car has to be ready by a certain time because you have to ramp up the production. The EQS was already done by that time.

i cannot wait for them to reintroduce the CLS back into the lineup. The CLA and CLS are the models that set the visual trend for all upcoming benz's. For example, they were the first models to introduce the single brow daytime running light, and the swoopy-ness of really all their cars' current rooflines and rear ends.
all my concerns here are just practicality. To make Bembli happy they've wasted 1/3 of the car's length on the hood and front overhang. Will this at least have a frunk that can hold 2 carryon bags then? The aerodynamics of the car must be very good, but will there be any headroom in the back for, you know, human heads? I did the look of the completely unfeasible open headlights that would fill with snow and debris constantly but assume they will just be under plastic. The fender lights look great. The "grill" looks silly and should be scrapped and redesigned. Interior has a ton of fun, and completely unlivable touches like enough chrome trim to blind the driver... but the hard points of the screen and open floor look very cool. Overall, they should scrap the ICE motor and fix the front-end proportions to give the humans another 3-6 inches of car to sit in and fix the concept car stuff and they'd have a very solid EV. It will also basiclly be a Model 3 at that point :-P

Mercedes even gave their ugly EQ design little special cuty names like One-Bow-Design and Cab-Forward-Design.

I said this already on the BMW concept video and I repeat myself agian: this ain't gonna happen cuz this is a car from a German automaker. They come out with ludicrous concept designs - ALWAYS - and then they always find their way back to make their cars as boring as the previous ones - ALWAYS. And Mercedes is going to do this for the second time now...
