- Let's take a closer look at the Dream Home trait in Starfield and see if it's worth getting. In this video I'll cover how to get the Dream Home, show what it looks like, show what can be built in it, and discuss some of the pros and cons of getting it.
I just managed to pay off the house and now that I'm decorating, the decor options are super limited. For a "dream home" there isn't even a nice luxurious queen or king size bed for the bedrooms :(
I think it would be a good trait because if you put storage containers in the house then you can empty out your ship by using your house once you pay everything off just focus on paying off the house then you got a beautiful home base to store all your goods and you don't even have to use mining area for that yet and a side note if you get annoyed with your with your PC friends you can lock them in your house and you don't have to deal with them for a while until you pay again to to go into your house again so yeah I think it'd be worth it peace and have a great day
Dream Home - Expensive home on an isolated planet. Costs 500CR to open the door(each time) until you pay off the 125,000CR mortgage.
Pro: Looks very nice, with plenty of room inside for a custom build-out. Secure place to store all your contraband and stolen items without worrying about system security.
Con: Less flexible and less useful than a regular Outpost. You are going to be spending all your early game reasources upgrading this place rather than an Outpost.
@decoysdungeon.....Amos, one of my fav sci-fi chars...you got him to a tee.
If you could do videos on the other houses that would be cool. There’s one article online by techraptor that features them all. There is a manor in akila that looks pretty neat.
Might take me a little time to get them all, but I can definitely do that.
Also broke my immersion when I found "that kid" on this one planet.. When I was at the graves, after hearing their story, how they were the only one on the planet who survived, i looked at the horizin, just to see not only one, but two big structures just in walking distance.. :D wtf
I had the same notion of putting my chsracter in debt. Slowing things down.
I’ve played enough animal crossing to know it’s just part of the game 😅
It kind of at least the balcony looks like the balcony off the house from dying light 2 the very first house you go to Peace have a great day or night wherever you are
The Dream Home is a wasted Trait. My advice, pass on it. If you decorate with items you find in world and put on shelves, tables, counters in home the items will sometimes load merged to the area halfway through the shelf, counter, or table. Also, you have to build all furniture and storage so just make an outpost. No real windows means no view inside the home. You can not interact with starship in home and to move things around you must go outside home. And the kicker is if you get the Star Eagle (best Starter ship from a mission) it does not park near the home. It land 377 away from home over mountain area. So you cannot interact with ship even outside home. And when encumbered it is a problem because due to mountain area you have to walk around. Hard pass. Build an outpost. Currently only storing contraband on mine. Worse thing is if you pick new game plus you are stuck with trait.
My main question is: Can this be useful as a research center? Can I store infinite amounts of junk and conduct research and build out my weapons and spacesuits and so on in there? Is it easy to transport/access cargo from the ship?
Next question: Is the house 100% protected from piracy? If that's the case, it would be better than outposts, and would not require any of the costs of protecting an outpost (which might add to more than 125K?).
@@VahidMasrour I haven't had anyone attack my house. That's probably the only real benefit from it.
If you have the chance, please let me know re. the storage situation: can I store large (hopefully infinite) amounts of storage there?@@decoysdungeon
@@VahidMasrour You can build multiple storage containers in it. I ran into a weird issue with one of the larger containers last night. While it was empty it said it had 15 mass inside it. It was rather annoying.
Keep in mind that you'd need to build a fair amount of storage to horde most of your stuff there. Crafting won't pull from the containers. Smaller ships park outfront of the house, but I've heard that larger ships have to land much further away, and it makes the over encumbered journey more tedious.
If you want my personal opinion, you're probably better off passing on the trait and getting something more useful. There's other properties you can buy, but I haven't picked any of the up yet. I'll make a video about them soon.
If the house loses my stuff and the containers won't link to the different workbenches, then that doesn't really work as a research center. That's very disappointing. The only value add for me then would be as a secure contraband storage (IF storage works appropriately AND the 0 piracy area is confirmed)@@decoysdungeon
Does anyone know how you open the shutters? I found the house quite disappointing. All the furniture that comes with it isn’t actual storage and you can’t open the shutters so I just have piles of stuff in all these featureless white boxes.
I’m sure there is a way I haven’t progressed quite far yet
When he’s running through the buildable furniture in the video there’s a series of chests/boxes that look like the loot boxes you run into everywhere. Are those not storage?
@@kurtisf3366 they are, but there’s furniture in the house upstairs and in the kitchen that doesn’t work. It’s a bit disappointing.
Looking at your house, can't wait to see what modders will manage to do, I never was patient enough to build good looking houses in Fallout 4, fortunately the Nexus exists.
We made the exact same character decoy, you were going for the shepherd look too?
I thought the default version of the character I picked looked like Amos from The Expanse. I tweaked it a little though. Shepherd is cool, but not what I was going for.
Yeah looks JUST like amos love it 🔥
Do you know if this house is unique to this trait, or whether it's available if you take a different trait?
You absolutely HAVE to take the “Dream Home” trait while you are building your character at the start of the game, in order to have access to this house. I believe it’s 500 credits a week, in game.
If you store things in crates in the super house are those available for crafting?
Unfortunately no. I built a storage box right beside a crafting bench and it didn't count what was in the storage.
That's no good then. :(@@decoysdungeon
Thanks!@@decoysdungeon
Can you also build around the home, as a settlement?
I didn't see an option to do that. It looks like the only building allowed is on the inside.
@@decoysdungeon maybe mods later then
Is the 125,000 payment due once a week? Or it’s a one time payment?
You get charged 500 a week in interest, but you can pay off the entire thing for the set amount of 125k whenever you want.
Lmao i made a character with the intent on making him look gay and it looks almost exactly like this guys character. Edit: i don't like the design of the home due to all the shelves. I don't like placing items on shelves in bethesda
