The thing about people talking about how much they all must have cost is so true. I’m a fully grown adult with a full time job, if I want to spend my “fun” money on dolls I should be able to. My doll collection is no different than other women my age who collect perfume or purses.
The dolls that are "super Rare" or super hard to find or whatever in the AG community the prices are insane. Id love a white body and #4 and some other older dolls but the prices are insane
For me, the biggest pet peeve is the price of shipping from ag to Australia. 60 usd is 100 AUD and that being the price of just shipping alone makes me want to cry! I saw a wig I want on Etsy and cost of shipping for 1 wig was over 30 usd 😭
I really don't get why suddenly it's weird to collect dolls as an adult?? I'm 41, and a guy who got back into collecting last year, after a decade hiatus. But I grew up with a Mom that collected dolls since before I was born, plus my entire life!! Dad and I even gifted her dolls for her Birthday and Christmas on several occasions. Mom even made Barbie doll clothes and sold them off our front porch, before I was born. That's how we got into American Girl in the first place. I just don't get it.
I don't like doll prices on the secondhand market. I mean, have you seen how much certain Rainbow high dolls, such as Sabrina St Cloud, go for? To put it in perspective, most listings for her are AT LEAST $100! You can find Meline and Ayesha, but not Sabrina.
Ohmygosh the scalpers!!! Ugh! Over anything else that's probably the thing I absolutely hate the most about doll collecting. I mean it's one thing to want to make a little profit off an extra doll or something, but to jack the price up to double, triple or even quadruple the original price? That's absolutely horrible! My sister in law is a huge monster high fan, but between the originals being so expensive and the scalpers being basically the only ones getting the mattel creations exclusives, she isn't able to get the ones she actually wants very often. I have to do most of the hunting because I know how to word my searches differently and can restore the ones that are messed up. Between scalpers and the people who just don't actually do their research, (thorough research mind you, not just a quick look at the first thing to pop up) but with those 2 types of sellers, it's extremely difficult on the rest of us collectors to be able to afford to build up large collections.
Almost all of them are pet peeves for me as well. When people say how much do you spend on them or you are to old for them or they are creepy our some of my Maine pet peeves. When people are nean my elderly Father just says to me it's ok your Grandmother loved her dolls as well. My grandmother willed her doll collection ( maybe 4 dolls) to my Dad to give to the girl of his choice. When I was 6 years old 3 of the 4 of my grandmother dolls where padted to me. 1 of the dolls got lost in my grandma's house. I lost one of the three remaining dolls in a house fire. One day I went cleaning and found the 1 missing doll. Now all 3 left of my grandma dols are with their rightfully owner.

This was really fun. Thankfully, my husband and I started using eBay back in 2003 and learned the ins and outs and have always found it fun. I bought so many toys for my kids growing up from eBay and I still buy household items and all kinds of things. I do agree that auctions at the last moment can be crazy, but we also trained ourselves to bid in the last 10 seconds with our highest bid, so bidding wars could never start. By the time you could bid again, it was all over. Thanks for sharing!
Most of my used doll's are from buy it nows but 1 or 2 are from bidding.
First bid i ever entered was for cecile, i was winning until 10 mins before and almost spent an insane amount on her just to win the bid. Thankfully I had superb impulse control, but i def cried like a baby after. Because i was sad i lost, plus i felt that all the anxiety i had beforehand was for nothing 😢 i got cecile for wayyyy less, and was able to talk down the seller a little, using the offer feature. After that I swore off of the auction aspect of ebay! Also, i had a closefriend call my dolls creepy, and i had to set a hard boundary with her right then and there. Do not yuck my yum friend, I don’t judge you

My pet peeve is that some people customize dolls that are rare or sought after, but that's just me, I have 1 custom and it's a boy I have no idea who his base his but he's probably a Samantha or jly base, but if I was to get another custom I would make sure that they were not a doll that was rare and/or sought after. But that's me, no hate to anyone that's just my preference 💗

Hi Kyla, I’m a teenage doll collector. Do you ever lose count on your dolls? I know someone might’ve asked that in previous videos. My dolls have way more clothes and shoes than me. I don’t find my dolls creepy but I like to say to friends that I live with haunted dolls. Also to note I have a doll’s head that needs to be put back on. I like to scare people when they come to visit me.
I keep my AG’s on a list in my Google docs so I know how many I have!
