Hey George, Another one in the books always feels good. Thanks for hanging in there with me on this one. I used to really dislike the 68-9 GT style wheels now I cannot get enough of them! Have a great weekend.
This is the only series I can ging on a mustang with new lime paint! Just bought myself a 70 coupe with a 302 in it that was new lime. Seems to be a pretty rare combo
Daniel, cool stuff and good luck on your 70. Most of these ended up getting painted resale red or white or black over the years but I like the uniqueness of oddballs like this.
John, Agreed no way no how I woulda, shoulda ever spent time on this little coupe, the fact I tackled such an unloved oddball should get some credit, lol!
Very nice Rich, if we knew how much time and money we were going to end up putting into these cars we may go fishing instead. You did a very nice job on the car, you saved it and made it good for another 50 years. You do a very nice job on your videos I always enjoy them. Thanks
Thank you Terry, Yes this one didn't warrant the time and energy more than likely but hey it's done now and I do think someone will really enjoy it. Thanks for the comments and following along, always appreciated. Enjoying your convertible build too!
Wow! I just saw this on Ebay Rich, and it is looking better-than-ever! The place selling it (maybe you?) is in N.Palm Springs and has over 20 years experience restoring Mustangs.
John, I sold it at auction last month and they are flipping it, or trying to anyway. 30k is a big number for that car even as nice at it is.....Thanks for noticing!
This car looks awesome! Well done! Your hard work and attention to detail has payed off! Wish I was there to help out & learn this stuff from a master builder/restorer like you! Looking forward to your first car, stolen Mustang fastback video you promised. Thanks Rich for sharing!!! Pete :")
Pete, If you weren't in India I would put you to work! Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes I need to get that video put together. Appreciate you commenting too, don't forget to hit that like button and thanks again!
Hey Rich!...I see you like those 69 Couples!...Huh!...Well, so do I and I am thinking a 69 Mach 1 Coupe with Shaker Hood or a 69 Shelby GT500 Coupe!...I am Just Saying!...God Bless! BTW!...Is this Lime Green 69 a Difference car from the 69 Vintage Burgundy 69 GT?...or did you upgrade it to a GT?...I am Just Saying!
Thanks David, just the cars that came my way at the time. Yes this is a totally different car from the 69 GT. Both cars are gone now, been sold. Ya a 69 Shelby coupe would be cool, expensive to build but cool.
At the moment I'm tempted by a 69 hardtop for sale near me. It's had a ton of restoration work on the mechanicals but none on the body (only has a little rust on the drivers side door though, mostly just paint and brightwork) and all that's left to finish on the interior is the seats. What problems stuck out to you the most when restoring this one or any like it? I know that this video is a bit old now but I hope you see my comment!
Well these tend to be a labor of love and will test yout time, patience and wallet. I am not sure if you have restored or done a car before so excuse me if that sounds too elementary but that is pretty much the case with all of these. They always take more engery then it would seem from chasing down parts ,fixing just about everything, dealing with aftermarket parts and then vendors if you are going to have your car painted. Love doing them and the satisfaction once they are done is well worth it. 69 -70 coupes generally don't warrent this level of work as the don't really pencil out financailly.
Peg Leg burnout! Way cool......As someone else mentioned for a project suggestion, a 4 eyed Fox would be nice. As for the smog laws of our great state(I'm an Angelino as well), doing a 1986 fuelie 5.0L GT or LX would make doing one easier, having to fiddle with a carb to pass smog is a BI&CH in Cali.
I have my eye on an '83 GT convert white on red , stick car. It's been sitting for a long time but it's bone stock. Maybe once I see this and the 70 Boss clone, I will tackle it, assuming it's still there.
MustangConnection1 oooh, an '83 huh? Nice, thats the year i graduated high school. The '82 GT was released around the time I got my driver's license(late 1981). The early 5.0L fox bodies hold lots of sentimental feelings to me. Late Model Restoration just released a replica TRX wheel in a more tire friendly 16" X 7" size, would look amazing on any '79-'84 fox body. Keep up the wonder, attention to detail work!
I bought an '83 GT hatchback used in '84, it only had about 6k miles and I drove that in college. It had the handling package which was the TRX wheel set up, I have seen those re-pops in the larger size, dig that set up.
Wow, nice(and lucky!) I'm sure you worked your tail off to afford a nice ride while in school. I almost bought a demonstrator '85 GT at a Ford dealer in Glendale in the early fall of '85(the 1986 models were out by then). It was Jalapeno red over charcoal with a flip up sunroof & rear window slats(dealer added). The car was $10,600 and I had maybe $2K to put down, the 48mo financing would've been $220 per month, but the insurance was gonna kill me at around $140ish. Heck, I was only earning around $350 a month working part-time and going to school, so my entire income plus a bit more was going to be needed to buy it.....well, it was a FUN test drive LOL
Hey John, I just never liked the rear spoilers on coupes and they never offered them as a factory option on the car, just Sportsroofs. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Nice! I never have liked the Ford Auto shifter, they look cheap to me, even back in the day, for original restoration it looks good. Great job, you could build a Stang for me anytime.
Great job. Nice to see a "plane jane" Mustang saved :)
Thanks Paul, Much appreciated!
I love the details on this car. It's exactly as I would have done it. Great job! I've followed this from the start.
Thank you so much, really appreciate you watching the series!
Wow!! You did an amazing job on this beauty. Thanks for sharing with us all in great detail. I truly enjoyed it. 😊
Thanks Tony, I am sure the 20min vid is tough to hang in for so glad you enjoyed the recap.
Very nicely done, Rich. Something to be proud of. I always liked those wheels and had a set on my 64 Comet Caliente back in the day.

The New Lime went from rags to "Rich's" . Cool build and great job !
Haha, nice Lloyd and thanks, much appreciated.
Turned out nice
Thank you!
I Love Love love It! Such a beautiful Stallion you have Rich. Thanks for saving this great Ford!
Thanks Stevie ! Much Appreciated.
MustangConnection1 I really liked the Mach 1, But like you said this car is special somehow. Are you going to keep it?
Not if a special buyer comes along.... :)
Hey, excellent job you did on that one. Better than factory new! I have one just like it, but not quite as nice.
I feel you, these kinda projects can definitely get away from you.
Very clean Rich. Some one will be a happy owner of this car.
Thanks Billy, hopefully so, it's for sale!
Killer job on that one Rich, nice to see it finished.
Thanks Fred!
I remember at the beginning of this effort thinking 'no way' on the Nugget Gold interior. However, looking at it now, it just somehow all works!
John, Agreed no way no how I woulda, shoulda ever spent time on this little coupe, the fact I tackled such an unloved oddball should get some credit, lol!

So,the stang is finished. You cruse down the road to impress the chicks. *Whats playing on the stereo system?*
Haha, In this car ? Deep Purple Highway Star or something like that, Zeppelin or Halen works too.
awesome job !!! all original, how it should be! beautiful mustang...
Thanks Mike!
Came out beautiful. I hope you keep this one since you will never find another like it.
Cliff, I would like to but I have to move on to the next one so this will likely be leaving the fold sooner rather than later.
The car turned out very nice.
Thanks Nick!

$15-20k would be awesome for that car; 30k is a bit 'ambitious!' lol
Well they paid about 22k with commission.
CooL Car Love it great work !!!
Thank you Evan!
Awesome !
Thanks!
Rich Thanks for the videos , just keep it you will never find one as nice as you made the New Lime and nobody else has one
Hey Mark, Thank you, would like to keep it but I am already on to the next one so hard to keep too many around.

Thanks Joe! Much appreciated, just laid in the matching floor mats to give it a finishing touch.

Great car.
Thanks Matthew, keys are waiting for Cole and for you low monthly payment plans are available! hhaha
If that includes a full tank of gas, you might have a deal!
Why of course, I will even though in some brand new custom floor "Matts"
Nice project! I would rather have this model mustang than any other mustang! Fast backs to me are over rated!
Looks great and runs great! What "RV" cam did you use?
Edelbrock performer if i recall.

You know a small wing on the back would look nice with that front spoiler.
Hey John, I just never liked the rear spoilers on coupes and they never offered them as a factory option on the car, just Sportsroofs. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Rich ya did a great job on it just one question are u going to a locker in.
Thanks Leonard, Locker in ? you mean put a locker in the rear diff ? No this one is done.
Nice! I never have liked the Ford Auto shifter, they look cheap to me, even back in the day, for original restoration it looks good. Great job, you could build a Stang for me anytime.
Thanks Mike!
Great job! Did you end up selling?
Thank you, no not yet but it is for sale, just have not had a chance to put it up yet.
Mines gonna be black hopefully i can get it straight enough...any tips or advice
Any dark colors just take a lot of prep and block sanding.
Good for u this is truely what the hobby should be not builds that cost a kajillian $$$$$$.
Try to share the fact you CAN have a clean classic without breaking the bank.
I see what you mean.
