Great video. Some suggestions I have would be to create a burn chamber to put the pyrolysis chamber inside of. Lining the burn chamber with insulation will keep the reaction hot and greatly reduce the amount of energy needed to keep the reaction going. I would also suggest cutting your copper pipe in half and hooking the two pieces up in parallel. This will allow double the gas flow and helps reduce pressure and any bottlenecks. You can greatly increase the condenser cooling by placing it in water. Also the noncondensing gas will probably be the bulk of the energy being produced so being able to reuse it would greatly affect efficiency.
Good work.. brother... I am also doing thesis on " pyrolysis oil production and analysis ". It seems that this setup idea will help me a lot in building setup for my thesis.. thank you...😇🙏
To easily disconnect the tank from the system...remove the coupler and put in a simple union (not a di-electric). I use unions at work all the time on a steam system operating at approx 80psi. This will make your disconnects easier. Just remember to keep the faces clean and facing with the flow of gases.
Nice! You just made a "small scale waste plant" only thing you left out/missed is the generator usin the volitile gases to run a generator(the exhaust gass from your g missing generator is normaly way hotter than your gas burner due to burning of carbon in the engine..
Can you explain how the heat is getting to the biomass? The wire is insulated from the tank, so the heat is rising from the exposed wire, but is the junction where your connection is heating up also? Would love a followup video.
I am part of a project (called Circular Horizon) that aims to store CO2 using biochar. I particularly liked your video, but especially the part where you talk about the cupper coil. My question is this: How often should this coil be cleaned and how should it be done? Best wishes
Thanks a lot for your interest. Your project sound great. Seriously I just don't know how dirty the copper coil get and how often we need to clean it. I just did 2runs to this project and not working on it anymore after.
Great work man I've seen all of your videos on this project Did you consider putting the heating wire inside the chamber i guess it would be more efficient
Thnks a lot ! I already try and the wire melt too easily by getting exposed to all chemicals getting out of the wood probably. I don't working on this project for a long time now , the final goal is to make it solar powwered with any king of focused lens or mirror.
quick question regarding the heater, wouldnt be more efficient to have the heating coil in the tank? another thing is you could use a cooker hotplate, so the other thing you could do is wrap 1 coil of the copper tube around the tank with some very small holes drilled into it to act as a gas burner so you could use some of the biogas to heat the tank.
I did heater coil in the inside in my first design and get trouble with it. Getting too hot because isolated in the processing biomass and also become oxyded really fast. In my upgrade , I will put a topstove spiral heater instead of my homemade coil. Getting the biogas going back under the reactor is my goal ( hoping to just start it with electricity and be self subtained after with generated biogas/charcoal ).
yes I know. Like I said , the electric coil is for testing only. Goal is to reuse gas back for heating and collect liquid fuel and woodchar. Easier and safr for storage
Yes. I think it's the simpless way to involve solar power in that process. After that I can probably hook all the setup on a big parabolic mirror with sun tracker , but it's gone a be more complex.
Bonsoir Monsieur.
if i want to extract hydrogen from biomass through your process, so it is necessary to do condensation process to convert gas into liquid or should i skip the condensation process because my main focus to extract hydrogen from biomass... thanks Eager to hear your feedback😀.
the idea is good. without any measuremants but having an oven at home, id say: if the process started, the flame should be strong enought to keep the wood pyrolysis going on. nothing else happens in every fire, i guess, until the "easy gases have left". but the container might have to bee a little bigger for synergetic reasons. the idea with the parabolic mirror is generally very good and funny- enough, i also thought about it. but. I need to use that facility to harvest the heat AND charcoal. (harvesting the heat is absolutely essential, to heat a house in the winter. but in the winter, ther wont be enough sun for the process. nor for the heating.- so. i like the idea of heating a water heat storage tank with sun, but this also works in the summer only. the essence with the refill procedure: if the pyrolysis stops, the charchoal fire must be extinguished with water and moved away. thats not so trivial in a normal small house. I can build this for my house and garden maybe though. finally its an industrial process.. its a lot of mess, you wont want every 3 days in your house and garden. such a machine must be efficient by all means and environmentally friendly (your reactor to catch climate gases is on the very right track, i think, but must proof in the big game, repeatedly with low mainanence. but. good project work.
God bless you in JESUS name , amen...thank you for your video,, i want to make gasoline and diesel,,, i was watching for weeks at different videos,, your video is very simple and good explained,, can i use this gear for crude oil ,used oil and make gasoline and diesel??
21 if I remember. But you have to calculate the voltage and the lenght of the wire for a giving temperature. Calculator on internet exist for that. Be carefull , because the wire is enclosed , it get more hotter and melt.
Hi! I don't know if you'll see this but I would love to ask you some questions regarding your reactor, is there any way I could contact you? Perhaps a mail or any other social media? Thank you! I am super impressed by this video.
Great job my man l. I have built a couple of these reactors but bigger. Hey check out mr Teslaonion..... Positive I spelled that wrong. Speaking of English thanks for that to that's not easy

Very well explained !! You are very wise and I loved the build. Great work
Bravo JF, une superbe explication du phénomène des retorts.
Great explanations. I wish you all the best with your modifications. Thank you for sharing
thanks ! I already buy parts for the mods , just need to find times to did it ! :)

Nice work...regulating temperature can also help you produced a standard diesel or petrol....

Curious of use of the distillates maybe mention that after you make your next video with your improvements

That element looks like a widowmaker if ever I've seen one
thank you very much for your explanation , it is very clear and useful ...Bravo
Can you explain how the heat is getting to the biomass?

No, we use coal as fuel for processing in the system, different temperature is required for each biomass
We use our own designed reactor for processing
Nice...... Heating it with electricity 😎👍
Thank you very much for your clear explanation!!

I thought of this idea when i was planning for my wood drying kiln ,
I don't know if you will get such a high temperatures tho
*the solar power i mean

Put the condensing coil on a external cooling bucket with water. Rather than using fan.
The electrical heating is very inefficient... one simple way to improve this is to make a "mirror" out of aluminium foil for the infrared radiation.
yes I know. Like I said , the electric coil is for testing only. Goal is to reuse gas back for heating and collect liquid fuel and woodchar. Easier and safr for storage
This is so dope! Have you used this recently?
Thn if use sun to dry the biomass, it will be awesome and it can be called as hybrid solar power pyrolysis system

Continuous flow is the answer batch fed is to labor intensive.
try heating with fresnel lenses
Hi! Can I use metal pipes instead of coper?
I want to seen how is it working . ? Please send me a vedio it
Does the container with the plastic have to be vacuumed?
i need to find a nice boiler setup for stuff like this. anything else you can put in that machine?

Why don't you just put your condenser cail in cerculating cold water.
Test ?
