Thanks for sharing! It's very important to have a plan for your retirement. I had a plan A, B and C 15 years ago. I am now at the plan C with an optional plan D. Plan C means I will move 100% to Thailand and retire there in 2027. Plan D means I will live in my cabincruiser in the summer here in Norway and stay 6 month of the winter in Thailand from 2027. It all comes down to economy, so I hope Plan C is what I can accomplish. If it wasn't for the china virus, I could have follow Plan B and been 100% retired in Thailand 2 years ago.
I think all these changes are generally good. One thing about hanging around long-term -- that potential expats often forget -- not every country is every trraveler's cup o' tea. It's great to be able to stay longer and the process is easier. Gives a person the chance to really learn about the country and learn about yourself, right? But Thailand may or may not be perfect. Everybody's different.
True Beverly, what I would say though is, Thailand is one of the most popular destinations in the world, in fact I think it is the most popular. It will be interesting to see if these new rules make a difference. Thanks
Great vid mate. I don’t really things will change that much, given the requirements for the new visa type .. it sounds good in some ways but how many people will actually qualify and then apply. I love the idea of potentially working remotely and I work for a large company but there are tax consequences for long periods of stay and many companies will only let you work overseas for a month or so - so will never give me the admin paperwork required. Sounds like it suits the types who were already working there - like the types who flowed into Thailand - especially CM - a decade or so ago. This just gives them a more legal option. Will be interesting to hear the numbers after a year or two. Great vid mate 😎😎
Cheers mate! Time will tell about the Visas. It's dead easy at the minute though, people are getting the visa by just having a dentist appointment in Thailand. We shall see how it goes. Cheers mate.

Quick question......you did a video about 1 month ago +\- in Chiang Mai city and you stopped by a shop that makes custom made backpacks. Do you recall what your video name was? Nice video mate . The visa situation is concerning for anyone wanting to make it home . Otherwise you can only plan within the confines of the visa period. Singapore was a a pretty cheap place back in the 80s now it expensive. As Thailand develops and modernises it could go the same way . My idea is to have Vietnam or Cambodia as a fall back plan B if Thailand becomes problematic. Being diabetic the way to test is fast overnight and do the test first thing in the morning. From here take the tablets to adjust the blood sugar levels. But complete change in eating and drinking habits . It’s life changing . Needs diagnosis with a blood test and HBA1C reading,

Time will tell as to what effect these visas have. I think most people in the western world that work get a standard 4 week annual leave so outside of taking long service leave it is limited to what extent they can travel. Then of course there are so many options around SE Asia so staying just in Thailand may not appeal anyway. Prices in Thailand have stayed at what they are since I can remember. Local street food prices are not likely to change much if at all. Accommodation costs are generally structured around the high and low seasons and fully booked as it is during the peaks. It will be interesting to see what unfolds. 🤩
Hello mate! Great talk. Think the prices of food are still very okay. Its the flights, girls, hotels have gone up big time in the last 10 years or so. But who needs all that😂
Food still amazing! Well most things are really, but as you mentioned, most other things are increasing slowly. Still super cheap when compared to home though.
The problem with scarcity of short term rentals is that does not correlate to the 2x 60 day with max 180 day visa offering. No one will come if there are no 2-3 month rentals so that visa is utterly useless. The should simply offer 1 year $500 visas. The whole $22k deposit is ludicrous much like the $10k Philppines one. That plus what you spend let’s say $18k year they are getting a decent chunk of coin. Albania works for me as I have a UK and US passport no deposit 12 months no tax on pension quids in, and it don’t get sweltering like there - I’d miss the grub though.
The hotels will make more money though, if people are staying longer. Albania is high on my list, I been looking at Albania for years, I would like to visit sometimes. Cheers.
I have been in this church at Christmas eve some years ago with a Thai Girl who had a Catholic baptize as a child. This happened i Northeast of Thailand, there are also a big Catholic church
When you are 50, just get the NON-O Ret Visa, it's easy to do yourself and only 1900b. There is still conflicting info on the DTV, i.e. the 10k Baht isn't for the whole 5-years, have read it's every time you re-enter Thailand after the 180 days having to depart. Yes I would wait for the DTV to be in place a while.
I saw an interview with a high-ranking guy from no less than the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who confirmed it is 10,000 baht for the whole 5 years. But there is the 1900 baht charge with every extension.
I may be wrong about this but I think the DTV visa is going to be primarily aimed at remote workers and freelance online workers (programmers, web developers etc.), I suspect for those applying as vloggers and the like, their applications will be examined a lot more closely. As I say, I could be wrong about it but I suppose we'll see how it plays out. There's also the issue of whoever will be put in power as the new PM, will they want to continue forward with the DTV visa in its current format or will they want to change it?
One guy just got approved for a DTV with a dental appointment in Thailand. Loads of others are saying how easy it’s been also. Any online digital business should be plain sailing . I think they will have to change it again though 👍 Yes mate, things could change again .
The DTV visa with the cooking and muay thai class options seems strange. One vlogger mentioned that they will be strict and check up on you. How is that possible when it's a 5 year visa that allows for multiple entry and exits?
Hello mate from Bangkok hot and sunny here I can’t see how they can put up the prices of flights they are silly money now everyone seems to think that there will be changes to the dtv visa and even the 60 days visa except going back to thirty days at some point you never know here they seem to change the laws overnight
flight prices atm. direct flight from london to BKK is around £560. Thai Airways but thats for jan 2025...when ill be coming. 😁 As always best to book well ahead of time
Of course now that Srettha is out who knows what will happen with the "new" Thai visa rules? When Thaksin was in power, he raised the fees on practically EVERYTHING.
Hi Wayne, talking about changes, do you have an opinion on the Thai tax revenue wanting to tax expats pensions, even though some have already paid tax in their own country.
It's another unclear subject mate, so we'll have to see how it unfolds. If I want to keep staying in Thailand and those are the rules, I'll just accept it 👍
If your from the USA, UK, Australia it’s all pretty clear now. 1) I watched a Vid by Ploy and Jay in Thailand he went to his local tax office in Buriram and said they and all tax offices in Thailand people who can answer any questions you have. 2) I am a Brit and watched Expat Tax Thailand Vid on the DTA between Thailand and UK (They also have the same for USA & Australia). It goes through all aspects of the DTA and gives case study examples. There is a list of Tax deductibles & allowances and one place you can find it is - Thailand Personal Tax Deductibles and Allowances SHERRINGS. There are few more allowances I can claim but the basic ones are 60K personal allowance + Wife’s 60K personal allowance + 190K because I am over 65 + 100K because I my state pension is more than that. This all adds up to 410K then the first 150K is at 0% rate so that brings it to 560K which is about £12,500 and the same as the UK tax allowance. After that Thailand tax bands start at 5% and you get tax credits for any tax you paid in the UK. 3) After watching the 2 Vids referred to above I went to the tax office where I live in Udon Thani and they seen me straight away. They confirmed everything Expat Tax Thailand said was correct.
I have type 2 diabetes, I can't eat or drink with too much sugar, because then I get cramps in my stomach, I can eat everything in moderation and not too much during the day either. yes, it is rather difficult because everything is added with sugar
Yes, Wayne, that was me calling the current Chiangmai roadworks a "nightmare " and unashamedly so. Last thing I ever wanted was to sound like another whining expat farang. But this city upgrade is beyond stupidity. Dangerous, whether on two wheels or on foot. I can handle change when it means long-term improvement. In this case, school kids could have done a better job. Anyways, we carry on. Cheers.
I thought it was you Lars. I see alot of people are moaning on the Facebook groups now. The road is dangerous man. I've been told it's getting re-laid in the coming weeks. Surely, it must be.
I think that Thailand is even ahead if everything goes up, just because the visa might be better for us many girls want 2500 thb and if it also increases, then yes, they go to bed hungry..in denmark a girl for sex costs 7500 thb for an hour
And if a pharmacist gives you the expensive medicines from the famous brades then because they think that is your standard. They show what famous ones they have. It is no rip off !!! Ask fot Thai brands like SaRa : 200 Paracetamol for 95,- Baht
The wars in Ukraine and Myanmar are much bigger drivers than these new visas. Frankly speaking, anyone who wanted to be in Thailand already had many options. I would know, since I am one of those people. However, I recently left Thailand because there are much better options globally for me. And the visas in most other middle income countries are much more lenient than Thailand even after these changes.
@@johnshores6061 I was able to just pay an agent to get the 1 year visa before. As I said, anyone who wanted to stay in Thailand had many options even before these changes. I don't think that you will see a drastic uptick in nomads there.
@@WalkAboutWayne Agreed. It was not a good fit for me personally but I understand that some people love Thailand. Didn't mean to denigrate Thailand as I still think highly of it - I just don't think that the number of foreigners will increase much going forward given some of the other countries that are available to us foreigners.
I don’t think many holiday makers will stay longer than 60 days anyway do you? 30 days is a long holiday. And even now they’re still 25% down on numbers than they were pre covid
I agree with that, the average holiday tourists will be fine with the 60 day exempt. Digital online business will keep growing year by year though and could see an influx of online nomads.
@@WalkAboutWaynepersonally I think while digital nomads may increase, due to the cost of living crisis with food and housing in western countries Thailand may never recover to have tourism numbers as high as they were pre covid. Who knows though really hey
65 in NZ they are trying to push that to 70 maybe 75 someday. No or little percent of retirement payments overseas any way. so its irrelevant here until your sorted
Wet cement just waiting for the unsuspecting walker to step in. 🤣 Get your blood work done mate, just had mine done last week, they will test for everything, cholesterol, your PSA, triglycerides, 15-20 things, it's often a measure of how well your liver is working.
I have been watching that retired working for you video in which he interviewed a gentleman from the government on the dtv visa. As per him, you can come and go any time and the visa will reset to 180 days per entry. If that’s the case then Thailand is up for some foreigner rush, which will eventually lead to Spain / Portugal kind of scenario. The prime minister who brought all these visas is now been fired so you never know what’s going to happen next.
Ben on Integrity Legal Thailand doesn’t agree with RW4U. As he points out the guy he spoke to works for the Foreign Affairs Office who issue visas overseas but Once you get to border control and in Country visas come under the Immigration Bureau. What work you can and can’t do do comes under the Ministry Of Labor. Income tax comes under the Revenue Department. Now with a change in PM they have said the new administration will review key policies including soft power initiatives and the DTV is a SPI. Thing is in recent years you don’t know what they are going to do one month to do one month to the next.
Yeah but there's no guarantee that every application will be approved, maybe at the very early days they will be a bit more lax with it but I suspect they'll become a lot more stringent on which applications they will approve. It's at their discretion who they will grant it to.
Visas is one of the very rare easy tool governement can use to improve cash entering Thailand. Digital wallet? ... gone. Casinos? ...not sure for thai employment and prone to money laundering.Taxes? ...if too many, residents will move. Prices of goods? and services...VAT cannot extend that much. No, life is as usual in Thailand : no need to plan, a change will surely happen after another change...who is planning for sunshine tommorow ?
Thailand with it's new partners with Russia and China is going to be far more prosperous in their future. Sadly for Westerners we are stuck with huge economic issues due to war, debt and countries not wanting to deal with the US 'rules' based order anymore.I think Thailand is well aware of this and is making the right changes and alliances, and changing immigration accordingly.
Did anyone else see the water boil when he went into the church. Catholic churches seem a bit watered down a bit there. No crusades, probably not as child orientated, don't have there fingers in as many pies to pull the strings. Are you really surprised about subpar work on the street? They all seem to take the micky and try to make it bad. Competent people couldn't make such a mess unless it was planned to be that way.

Think you have diabetes? Chances are you may have hypochondria…check out symptom #3. Other symptoms of hypochondria include: Frequently visiting or switching doctors Talking a lot about health Spending a lot of time online researching symptoms Feeling pain or uneasiness in the gut throughout the day or week Excessive sweating, even in unexpected situations Numbness, which can be real or an illusion, in different parts of the body, especially the fingers, hands, arms, and toes
Great news….I started a Keto diet in January 2022, ate one 2,000 calorie meal a day of meat, eggs, vegetables and walked 13 kilometers every other day. October 2022. I had lost 25kg, got off 7 medications I was on for 20+ years and had the best blood test results of my life. Another major issue is the seed oils that Restaurants cook with. It’s the leading cause of diabetes. I use olive oil, butter, lard and tallow instead of seed oils.
Looking at the numbers published by immigration. The flood of people are coming from China , Russia and the Middle East. You must now go to rural small towns for good deals, but even you have done vlogs showing how sleepy it is.

Cheers.
@@WalkAboutWaynehope we both get to and I’d spot you a pint you deserve that or a coffee.
I have been in this church at Christmas eve some years ago with a Thai Girl who had a Catholic baptize as a child. This happened i Northeast of Thailand, there are also a big Catholic church
Nice! Yes, this is a very popular church. It’s packed out on Sundays
God works in mysterious ways 😊.Cheers
Thank God for Jesus 🙏
When you are 50, just get the NON-O Ret Visa, it's easy to do yourself and only 1900b. There is still conflicting info on the DTV, i.e. the 10k Baht isn't for the whole 5-years, have read it's every time you re-enter Thailand after the 180 days having to depart. Yes I would wait for the DTV to be in place a while.
I saw an interview with a high-ranking guy from no less than the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who confirmed it is 10,000 baht for the whole 5 years. But there is the 1900 baht charge with every extension.
The 10k is for the 5 years. Definitely not per re-entry
Ya cause everyone can have 24 grand in the bank. SMH
@Techfanatic73 need 500k, or 15k US in Bank for the DTV, so it's not as much but still.
Only one time payment.
@@WalkAboutWayne Yeah let's see how it goes, hopefully it'll all be grand, and hopefully no major negative changes made to the DTV (if any at all).
The DTV visa with the cooking and muay thai class options seems strange. One vlogger mentioned that they will be strict and check up on you. How is that possible when it's a 5 year visa that allows for multiple entry and exits?
One guy just got approved with a Dental appointment in Thailand. They will surely have to change this DTV
😁 As always best to book well ahead of time
Yes mate, it could all change again in the coming weeks 🤣. Hope life is good in Bangkok. Cloudy most days in Chiang Mai lately .
@@Zerinth yea January was cheap for me last year but school holidays at the moment so expensive
“Oo youz tawkin”. Love that accent.
Happy Days Douglas 👍
Of course now that Srettha is out who knows what will happen with the "new" Thai visa rules? When Thaksin was in power, he raised the fees on practically EVERYTHING.
That's right, anything can happen now.
Ketovore or carnivore diet will fix that mate
TMI. Over share?
Just eat chicken, fish and things like broccoli, cauliflower , avoiding white bread and rice (hard in asia)
Eating a big breakfast and lunch and skipping dinner helped me to sleep a lot better. No food after 14:00
mai sai nam tahn khrap!
NEW 5 YEAR VISA GOOD ONLY 10 K THAILAND MONEY 💯👍🇹🇭
Weird that is cheap . I just got a ltr visa but it was 50k baht. I'll have to look into it .
It sounds like a lot of Embassies are charging what they like.
I think that Thailand is even ahead if everything goes up, just because the visa might be better for us
many girls want 2500 thb and if it also increases, then yes, they go to bed hungry..in denmark a girl for sex costs 7500 thb for an hour
Yep, still cheap as chips in Thailand.
And if a pharmacist gives you the expensive medicines from the famous brades then because they think that is your standard. They show what famous ones they have. It is no rip off !!! Ask fot Thai brands like SaRa : 200 Paracetamol for 95,- Baht
3:04 drink Coffee ☕☕☕
Never touch the stuff.
Hey wayne, change of the guard tomorrow all the visas might change again tit tit
Yes mate, been watching that today. Everything could go tits up again haha. You just never know with Thailand, ay mate.
Well the 60 day on arrival visa helped me out no end as I'm here for 6 months means only 1 flight instead of 2
@@johnshores6061 I was able to just pay an agent to get the 1 year visa before. As I said, anyone who wanted to stay in Thailand had many options even before these changes. I don't think that you will see a drastic uptick in nomads there.
Btw which country did you choose?
Way of life is factor as well though. Thailand still a great place to be.
25% less revenue is an alarm bells type situation
I agree with that, the average holiday tourists will be fine with the 60 day exempt. Digital online business will keep growing year by year though and could see an influx of online nomads.
@@WalkAboutWayneAI will have taken 50% of Nomad work in the next two yrs🤔
@@WalkAboutWaynepersonally I think while digital nomads may increase, due to the cost of living crisis with food and housing in western countries Thailand may never recover to have tourism numbers as high as they were pre covid. Who knows though really hey
@@randyirvine5858 Good point, that is a big possibility Randy.
65 in NZ they are trying to push that to 70 maybe 75 someday.
No or little percent of retirement payments overseas any way. so its irrelevant here until your sorted
It will keep going up in the UK too. Probably in the 80s by the time I get there (if I get there).
Absolutely not, things will be what it's always have been. The only thing that will change is the frontpage , in the background all will be the same.
Probably 👍
Wet cement just waiting for the unsuspecting walker to step in. 🤣 Get your blood work done mate, just had mine done last week, they will test for everything, cholesterol, your PSA, triglycerides, 15-20 things, it's often a measure of how well your liver is working.
I’m surprised I didn’t walk right into that cement. I never look down when I’m filming 🤣. Yes mate, always good to get the blood tests 👍
I avoid the rainy season in east and south east asia. I would be there now otherwise.
One of my favourite times of the year.
I was in thailand for 4 weeks, July 24. Only got caught in the rain twice. Had a great time. High season is over rated
You have no clue what you're talking about. Not everyone even qualifies for the DTV. Period.
I watched that also. As people have mentioned, apparently that official has nothing to do with visas 🤣. God knows, never know what's true anymore.
Very true words 👍
lol wet cement. No sign.
3-4k that is crazy.
🤣 Hard times
Thailand with it's new partners with Russia and China is going to be far more prosperous in their future. Sadly for Westerners we are stuck with huge economic issues due to war, debt and countries not wanting to deal with the US 'rules' based order anymore.I think Thailand is well aware of this and is making the right changes and alliances, and changing immigration accordingly.
I think you could be right 👍
really massage Blackboard said 250 bath for 60 min.
Yeah, I knew it wasn’t 60 baht but I glanced and seen 60 and got excited for a minute. 🤣🤣. Cheers
If thailand goes up in price, then people will just go to another country. In the n thailand will be the poorer for it?
Probably mate, not to many options though.
The streets become hazardous once tax give chase 😅
🤣🤣🤣
Wages will go up. That means everything will go up accordingly.
Not sure the Thai wage goes up a lot, but things could start going up.
TiT Wayne. wait and see which way the wind is a blowing.. SNAFU.
Whichever way the wind blows mate 👍
Did anyone else see the water boil when he went into the church.
Catholic churches seem a bit watered down a bit there. No crusades, probably not as child orientated, don't have there fingers in as many pies to pull the strings.
Are you really surprised about subpar work on the street? They all seem to take the micky and try to make it bad. Competent people couldn't make such a mess unless it was planned to be that way.
Never surprised with Thailand mate.
There.that video where old guys who regretted not doing what they could have. One was they would have tetired earlier if possible. But you are doing thst now. And foing the other wish... living a healthy lifestyle. Guys in a Pattaya video bragged about chugging 15 beers. Real "men" there. Anyway, i guess you would have to work 5 years to earn a retirement. But maybe not. You are very frugal. (Cheap Charlie)..But after 50 the years really do me speed by..So some permanent income would be good. Now let me tell you about the bar girls...
.
Sure, you would need some income. Luckily I have but is it enough? that's a different story.
Think you have diabetes? Chances are you may have hypochondria…check out symptom #3.
Other symptoms of hypochondria include:
Frequently visiting or switching doctors
Talking a lot about health
Spending a lot of time online researching symptoms
Feeling pain or uneasiness in the gut throughout the day or week
Excessive sweating, even in unexpected situations
Numbness, which can be real or an illusion, in different parts of the body, especially the fingers, hands, arms, and toes
Turns out I don't have nothing. Fit as a fiddle. I still need to keep the carbs under control though.
That visa won’t change a thing….its just another option for certain people..
Maybe mate.
Looking at the numbers published by immigration. The flood of people are coming from China , Russia and the Middle East. You must now go to rural small towns for good deals, but even you have done vlogs showing how sleepy it is.
Yes very quiet at the minute but still need to give the new visa system time. Will it make a difference? Probably but how much of a difference.
Waffle is about right.
Happy days 👌🏻
Wayne getting paranoid that his personal paradise is gonna be overrun. Aint gonna happen! To have a comfortable, permanent life in Thailand these days takes proper financial back up. The dreamers with limited income and savings will always fall by the wayside and return home.
I’d say the other way around. The cheap guys stick around and the rich guys leave.
Veneers? Looking like one of the bloody BeeGees!😢
