  • In this video, I travel from Lampang to Phrae. I had always imagined Phrae to be a quiet, dusty town so i was excited to see what this town has to offer.
I started my day by saying goodbye to Lampang and then driving the 2 hours to Phrae. I arrived with no plan and not knowing where to go, my first stop was coffee! I found a nice little place in town. Then it was on to the famous Temple of the tortoise ( Wat Phong Sunan ) I’m not really a temple person but this was something different and special. I then make my way to the center of Phrae.

    Wayne, me again….
Just to let you know how much I and we really appreciate you’re hard work
Was here in Chiang Mai In songkran and back again for Loi krathong. After walking around in blistering heat I don’t think many people realise what a full time difficult job you have
I walked for about 2 km and was ready for the emergency ward 😂
But you do this nearly every day go home edit then spend so much time answering everyone. No easy !!!!!!
    You’re the goat man
    Keep em coming……

If I am not completely mistaken, Phrae is known for the manufacture of teak furniture which they supply all over Thailand. You can design your own furniture and they manufacture to order. It would be interesting if you ever visit a factory in the future.

The Golden Tortoise was beautiful, and I don't know what the monk was singing but it sounded so nice that I listened to him sing it again. Bobby Dazzler man.

What you say Wayne about Lampang being clean, orderly and having 'That unique look' sort of describes my recollections of it many years ago. I also recall a uniqueness and uplifting spirit of the people not easily forgotten.
'Long' reminds of some of the towns in the Wyoming and Montana that are as the locals say "Two blocks wide and 2 miles long". Phrae does look like the place to get away from it all and recharge.

One of the cleanest I've seen. It's defo one of a kind mate. Long was so small 🤣. I've come across so many towns in the middle of nowhere.

Been there many times as its famous for teak furniture and we bought most of our stuff there. The pronunciation of Phrae sounds like pair or pear thats listening to my wife who is Thai. Its a big business town with lots money they are actully in the process of building a railway from Chiangsan Chiangrai to Phrae . Have fun nice place.

Nice one Colin, I’ve not seen many wood places around but it is indeed a furniture town. Yes, the locals pronounce it Pear. 👍👍

For those that didn't know Long where Wayne stopped at the 7 Eleven is a district within the province of Phrae and not actually called a town. I thought I'd learn a bit from google and also found that Phrae is a town and the capital of the province of Phrae. I had no idea so for me it is all rather educational. and very interesting. There is a place there called Phae Mueang Phi Forest Park that looks quite amazing and could be worth a visit. Also a free Thai Movement Phrae Museum which could be interesting. Just a thought in case you are battling to find things of interest buddy. Top video as always Wayne. Cheers 🍻🤩

    • @WalkAboutWayne

It's a Long way to Phrae, mate. Haven't taken this route across before, looks OK. If you blink, you'll miss this one horse town! Golden turtle, it's the Buddhist symbol for a long, prosperous life. Getting back to Lampang, yes, the city park really makes the town. The cleanliness is very much part of the attraction.
