Gripen_ Br I think it's because 2000's kids got tastes of things that were left over from the 80's and 90's. Stuff like VHS, cassette tapes, fuzzy TV screens, and living in a world before the internet was at your fingertips 24/7. We didn't exactly experience all of this, but damn it all feels familiar.
Man, this makes me sad. It makes me think of the time of my life, which I had for a couple of weeks in the summer of 2014. I'll never be able to have it back, though.
I may have been too young to be online for the peak of vaporwave, but I feel nostalgia and comfort for it in a different way. I had known about the existence of the aesthetic and genre for quite some time but it was not until I had a dream about vaporwave that really inspired me to dive in. This was during lockdown and this sort of music really comforted me and still does. I am now currently working on a story project delving into the themes and aesthetics of vaporwave to sort of pay homage to the happiness and inspiration it brought me. This song has helped me through not only the creative process, but also getting through things in general. It has brought me great joy and comfort- thank you

I was 13 in 8th grade once with messy hair and laying in class couple weeks before summer break bopping to this in English with my wired Apple ear buds on the iPads our school gave us. Pretty sure my friends and I went to get pizza down the block from school in our neighborhood then road our bikes to the beach on the south side of town and just chilled and watched the sunset. I’d always bring my dad’s black JBL flip 3 at the time everywhere in my backpack so we’d have toons to bump everywhere and I always put everyone on to music like this. I’m now 20 , to think I’m reminiscing on something that was 7 years ago now is wild. I now have facial hair, a girlfriend of 7 months, a band I sing and play guitar in, 1 more year of college left, and still the same group of friends I grew up watching sunsets after school with. I remember listening to this a lot between 2014 - 2016. I was in middle school then and now I’m a freshman in college. This song just takes me back to the good old days when everything was right and nobody gave a shit about political parties, war, or guns. It reminds me a lot of my old friend group too. We grew apart when we all got to high school and I hadn’t spoken to my closest friend in the group until a month ago. He told me his little brother, who was also a big part of our circle, committed suicide. We were both devastated but it gave us an opportunity to reminisce. We shared a few laughs, a few tears, and all of our current struggles. If there was one thing his brother loved, it was this kind of music. Rest in Peace, John, heaven has a new angel.

I may have been too young to be online for the peak of vaporwave, but I feel nostalgia and comfort for it in a different way. I had known about the existence of the aesthetic and genre for quite some time but it was not until I had a dream about vaporwave that really inspired me to dive in. This was during lockdown and this sort of music really comforted me and still does. I am now currently working on a story project delving into the themes and aesthetics of vaporwave to sort of pay homage to the happiness and inspiration it brought me. I was 13 in 8th grade once with messy hair and laying in class couple weeks before summer break bopping to this in English with my wired Apple ear buds on the iPads our school gave us. Pretty sure my friends and I went to get pizza down the block from school in our neighborhood then road our bikes to the beach on the south side of town and just chilled and watched the sunset. I’d always bring my dad’s black JBL flip 3 at the time everywhere in my backpack so we’d have toons to bump everywhere and I always put everyone on to music like this. I’m now 20 , to think I’m reminiscing on something that was 7 years ago now is wild. I now have facial hair, a girlfriend of 7 months, a band I sing and play guitar in, 1 more year of college left, and still the same group of friends I grew up watching sunsets after school with. Thanks for giving me a soundtrack for the time I spent with my friends, and music that will invoke memories and emotions for years to come. Thank you White Woods. (Much love from Newyork ❤️)

I remember listening to this a lot between 2014 - 2016. I was in middle school then and now I’m a freshman in college. This song just takes me back to the good old days when everything was right and nobody gave a shit about political parties, war, or guns. It reminds me a lot of my old friend group too. We grew apart when we all got to high school and I hadn’t spoken to my closest friend in the group until a month ago. He told me his little brother, who was also a big part of our circle, committed suicide. We were both devastated but it gave us an opportunity to reminisce. We shared a few laughs, a few tears, and all of our current struggles. If there was one thing his brother loved, it was this kind of music. Rest in Peace, John, heaven has a new angel.
