Nice illustration. Look forward to trying it. Thanks John. Looks as if three or four of us viewed it more than once. But hey we want to get it right. Right?
Uso direto, o Valdotan acho muito bom por não agarrar tanto a corda tendo um deslizamento bom, mas agora estou testando outros esses que vi no seu canal curti. Já adotei pra mim! Um salve aqui do Brasil
I would love to try this knot. But in Germany it is forbidden to use hitch knots on a srt system. Out of curiosity, how long last the hitch rope for you ? I actually learned that the only hitch rope you are allowed to use, is dyneema rope. They told us normal rope would burn through really fast 😶
Wear on a friction hitch is going to be incredibly accelerated if we attempt to rappel on it and I do not recommend doing so, as I always simply break the hitch and manually tend it in a loose but ready position in rappel while friction is taken up on a Munter. And so my hitches last a long time. I have several climbing systems and use them all, and so i can't safely estimate the number of climbs. Periodically, I untie, inspect and retie or replace. But my hitches do last a long time.
I am German too and you would wonder what is forbidden and what is not. In the past i felt free but today this is not a country of freedom anymore. For example you are not allowed to sleep in the woods with a tent...I can´t find the order if it´forbidden or not to climb with hitch knots on srt, so in this case i would do what i want... @@kennethrogers1129
Hi John, got the hitch to work in soft bridge mode but it is too long after loading. Even after repeatedly tying tighter and pulling out slack. I would have to raise my tether way to high in order to sit or lean at a comfortable angle. I don't see a video for the short version yet is that correct?
1. If you look through this playlist, there are videos for the COMPACT variant, version 1 and the Non-jamming variant. Both of those can be tied so that the bottom two loops which accept the carabiner are only big enough to hold a carabiner. ruclips.net/p/PLETL-PceEXkYzZVteVwc0REz37uDr7-_C 2. Both of these require careful tying and tuning. As with any friction hitch, if you ever get unexpected slippage, pinch the top of it as you apply load to get it set. Then get to safety and inspect and redress as appropriate. 3. I will caution for anyone using a tether or rappel rope, you need to have a plan if you were to unexpectedly lose your footing. This one reason, I recommend use of a "lifeline" which reaches the ground over a tether which doesn't. Now, if you found yourself in that situation and you had a really compact friction hitch, you might have trouble getting out of that situation. See my recent video on Self Rescue after Loss of Footing. Feel free to join and post photos or questions in my Facebook group, same name as the channel.
Which friction hitch from your arsenal you think is the strongest? Or maybe you know exact which one it is? ( i mean between 523 jrb ascender, aglie hitch and longhorn agile hitch) tge longhorn...has i one variant 2 loops , maybe this is an advantage?
The strength of a friction hitch in terms of holding before slipping is affected by many factors... and adding a wrap can change the profile greatly. We should never allow more than a few inches of slack in our lifeline, and so we should never have the opportunity for our friction hitch to experience much more force than our body weight. However, i have to recommend THIS hitch as being very strong. Look for the strength test video of it.
i am afraid of height so you can be sure i look at the slack and i train at low height. Now i prefer this hitch and i can now tie this blindfolded. I saw the strength test and it is amazing how strong and powerful it is. Thanks John@@jrbtc
amazing info, great presentation!!! I was looking for a channel just like yours for like a week.
Thank you. We have a lot of ideas development.

I didn't rush and tried to supply every detail and angle. Happy to help
@@jrbtc you are thorough almost too repetitive but you are being sure even thick headed climbers (me) can follow and competently tie it.

Thx Lance, appreciate the support.

nice review, I am liking brass hardware rings, about two ince diameter for the handles,
Much has changed from the original where it was just "locked in" just going through the part going up to the upper coils.
