Jinjer is from Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, where the fighting started in 2014. The guys were stuck in Kiev when the current fighting started, but were eventually allowed to leave , to tour and be ambassadors for Ukraine. There is some post production with layers, but that is all Tatiana. She is mostly self taught, with Otep and Randy Blythe(Lamb of God) as her big harsh vocal influences. This live session was done to showcase Vlad on drums, who had joined not long before this. But this went viral because of her vocals. Vlad is classically trained on piano and self taught on drums. He ,Roman on guitar, and Eugene on bass are all awesome musicians. They write the music. Tati writes most of the lyrics. The song is about the astrological sign. The symbol for Pisces is 2 fish swimming in opposite directions, so the key word here is duality. Tati is a Pisces, she got a little help finishing up the lyrics to this song from Eugene, also a Pisces. Just a quick comment. Jinjer does Jinjer things. You will know it's a Jinjer song, but the rest is the Spanish Inquisition. They will throw every genre at you at some point, and beware false endings. Have fun!

Jinjer does bring something interesting, what with her timber and vocal abilities and attitude, the music that keeps you on guard all the time, never boring, catchy, and so precisely executed. Well, the usual follow up is Perennial LIVE at Wacken, and 'Teacher teacher', bet you're gonna get hooked all the way.
There's only one Tatiana, and she's so quiet and unassuming in her interviews too. This was a good intro to their music, if you can believe it she's even better now. She has a video out on how she developed her scream/growl. And yes, people are so taken back by her they sometimes overlook the rest of the band who are excellent. Even though it's a "live session" the sound has been processed later, it's only been to add some reverb and backing tracks in some of the clean parts, but her voice is as is, you can react to any of their crazy live videos out there, like Perennial live at wacken 2019 or Pit of Conciousness live at Kiev. In those two you can see her real potential in a live environment. This is one of those few bands that sound better live than in studio!! I've seen them live myself at Barcelona this year and it was amazing... Nice reaction!! You got a sub and a like!

A lot of their songs have different vibes to them. You will get a million suggestions but I will recommend their song "Pit of Consciousness" + "On the Top" performed live in Kiev (they are official live videos, they're great live)! They have a one-take of their song "Judgement and Punishment"!

Perennial live at Wacken on the lighter side and Who Is Gonna Be The One on the heavier side are a good starting point. They're impressive enough to blow you away but there's even more impressive stuff out there. There's some editing on this one, especially layered vocals, but their cleaner stuff on stage is IMO more impressive. And she goes lower in songs like WIGBTO and Pit of Consciousness.

From a technical perspective she is amazing. Part of the trick with switching from cleans to growls is that they engage different parts of the vocal plumbing; so shifting completely from cleans to growls disengages the vocal cords and doesn't strain them. She has AMAZING control and discipline, and pulls it off better and in a more extreme way than most. In some songs, like Teacher Teacher, she literally shifts back and forth mid-phrase; often using breath change tricks to help engage/disengage. There is a LOT of note and word/vowel placement choices and breath interval choices that go into doing this well; it is not arbitrary. There are some samples and doubling in the mix, but that is all normal stuff that is used on stage as well.
If you like the bass tapping, check out their tune Wallflower. Eugene is a monster on bass, and plays many different styles. The whole band is top shelf.

Tati is a beast. She is able to do that "growl" because she is one of the rare few, who have absolute control of their false vocal cords or (folds). This enables her to do that "growl" without damaging her voice. Ironically, there is some minor (very minor) effects on her singing voice a little echo here, some doubling there, but no effects are used on the growl, that is all her.

Tatiana is a goddess!!! She has an incredible voice and her ability to go from melodic to growl is a mind blow!! Nobody but nobody can do what Tatiana can do. The band is so talented and tight as just that is worth listening to..

Coming to Wacken, I suggest to check out 'Nightwish - Ghost love score', performed in 2013 in front of 82000 people who just freaked out on them. Best song if you never listened to Nightwish before. Looking forward to your reaction on this masterpiece of symphonic rock!

From a technical perspective she is amazing. Part of the trick with switching from cleans to growls is that they engage different parts of the vocal plumbing; so shifting completely from cleans to growls disengages the vocal cords and doesn't strain them. She has AMAZING control and discipline, and pulls it off better and in a more extreme way than most. In some songs, like Teacher Teacher, she literally shifts back and forth mid-phrase; often using breath change tricks to help engage/disengage. There is a LOT of note and word/vowel placement choices and breath interval choices that go into doing this well; it is not arbitrary. There are some samples and doubling in the mix, but that is all normal stuff that is used on stage as well.
Jinjer "Home Back" is a prophetic song, given the lyrics and the situation in their homeland.

I got to see them last year in Milwaukee and they are just as amazing live as they are on their recordings! Tati is just unreal, and she is very "hypnotic" as she moves/sings live!

Tati is a beast. She is able to do that "growl" because she is one of the rare few, who have absolute control of their false vocal cords or (folds). This enables her to do that "growl" without damaging her voice. Ironically, there is some minor (very minor) effects on her singing voice a little echo here, some doubling there, but no effects are used on the growl, that is all her.
