Very true.... They have such a versatile discography you can't help but listen to every song and along the way find your own song(s) and the fact that I've seen many people including myself starting to like even love the songs which are completely not our cup of tea....I mean I'm still shocked.... I don't know how they do it, but then again they are BTS 😂😂😂

Anyone who says there is nothing in the BTS discography for them 1) hasn't actually listened to the BTS discography, 2) has a (hopelessly) closed mind due to pre-conceived ideas, or 3) is actively trying hard not to like them. (There is a fourth option - racism/xenophobia - but any of the first three don't *automatically* mean the fourth is true, in my opinion. It *can* be the underlying reason, but isn't always the reason.)

The music industry says they aren't real rappers/singers because they don't fit standard genres. But BTS will continue to love music and stay in orbit even if the rest of the solar system won't acknowledge them.

I watched a reactor who said "the flute is kinda distracting" which would make sense because Pluto doesn't want you to forget it -
flute is Pluto. It made so much sense to me :) It was buzzing around in the background like a busy bee as if to say "don't forget about me"

@@AndrewBergSax "Flute - Pluto" is a wordplay since these two words sound almost the same in Korean accent. There's no "f" sound in Korean, p is usually used to substitute f. Also they sometimes can't just finish a word with a consonant, so they often add some vowel at the end of the word. These things make the word "flute (플루트)" sound almost like "Pluto (플루토)".
This is one of the VERY few songs where I would actually have recommended the studio version, not that they don’t still absolutely kill this live, but the production (which they do recreate fairly well for stage) is just so good at creating the ‘vibe’ of the theme - especially in J-Hope’s verse.

I know you can listen to like one or two songs from a singer or group and get the gist of their sound but with BTS, their discography is so varied that you need to listen to a variety of the music to get who they are.

Everything about this song is unexpected it’s a 70s flute jazz fun song about poor Pluto. So very geeky and clever. You two are as always a pick me up to watch!
Bc you watched live version you didn't see or hear a lot of stylistic choises in song bc they don't do that live, like Suga and Jin part that are like voice from space 🔭🌌 (they use this effect like phone) and Suga little wisper of his name that fans love and this little conversation inside his verse 😋 and Jhope rap is little faster and more in face (I don't know how to better explain it).😉
I don't know if you now heard album version but I curious what you think of this, live is great and they sing so good it and they don't do this song normaly, they did it for muster only, so I'm happy that there is live version. Jin and Jimin shine for me here💜.
I don't know if someone told you but this song was choose by NASA for their space playlist to listen in space stacion/prom.
They were looking for songs that were great represenation of cosmos and this is one of them. 😁

i agree, I have been saying that BTS is their own genre. My personal taste is folk/classic rock, but I enjoy other styles also. I haven't found a BTS song I don't enjoy, and I think I have heard them all now. I even like the rap songs, I have never been a rap fan. The mix of genres and BigHit/Hybe allowing them to experiment and letting each member shine while supporting each other is magic.

HA! I got it from the counterpoint thing, since I always feel the distress they are portraying by being demoted Pluto in the instrumental track vs vocal track. It's just all "weird" but fits.
For those interested: the "culprit" of the demotion was Mike Brown (my bias xD), I got to know him on a caltech online course (a MOOC from Coursera: The Science of the Solar System) where apart from talking about the topic he took his time to explain how all came to happen in 2006 :_) and it hurt him as much as everyone else to accept the consequences lol

I agree, Andrew. when you commented about Jimin and then Jin and later V singing without "backing" and it's one of the reasons why I like the vocal artistry of this song. I feel like if they tried to not belt those notes full out they would not be in the right orbit. I love this song, it is a very adult-sounding song to me. Great reaction Bergs💜💜

I love this song! I like the “exposed” parts a lot, because it gives the song a lonely feel. As if you are just drifting and circling all alone in space. I really love the flute too.

I discovered this song a couple of years ago. I LOVE the flute! On a different channel, there was a comment that the flute was annoying. I was surprised as I thought it was what gave the song the jazz vibe. And the lyrics. This song if one my top BTS songs. Enjoy your reactions. 💜

Since we're watching you react to a clip, the music we're hearing is generations from the original concert (Magic Shop fan meeting in Osaka, I believe) but I thought I heard a second flute that played a more melodious line than the obvious first flute (I played your reaction back to listen to the drum section behind the vocal/rap line, as you pointed out and thought I caught the second flute). I watched the Busan Magic Shop concert, they did not perform this song (regretfully!) but what a show! If you're looking to react to a concert on your Patreon, that would be a number one choice. You are so right, there is such a different vibe to each song and their performances add another layer on top of the music and musicality, on top of the lyrics. Glad to see Caitlin on this song with you, it was a great song for her insight, the visual of a fire that has been put out was perfect, and you balanced it so well with your musical insights. I have a playlist that currently has 90 BTS group and solo songs and I think I counted at least 15 missing from this list. Keep updating your spreadsheet, you have about 85 songs to go, ha ha! And yeah, I love the way the lyrics are constructed in these different layers of meaning.
The exposed chorus vocals for "I'm just orbiting you"... oh yeah, I'd be terrified to attempt that. There's barely anything in that range that they can reference against.
"There is something for everyone" yeah. I think the quote you're remembering is from Yoongi? And I also vaguely remember you sharing a music guide on your Twitter at some point, with songs sorted by genre, on a huge mind map?
It is one way how I have managed to trick people in the past, I played some songs that didn't fit the stereotype, and suddenly people were interested and asked me what this music was 👀
And obviously, that flute here is THE scene-stealer of the song for me, every time. I love how it's written to counterbalance whatever the song melody is doing (though I should now use the proper term "counterpoint", since you just taught me this one) 😉

I think that hints about lyrics analize made people think like that, but! Hint about music was quiet big clue for Pluto plus this lyrics hints, that all was enough for me. The first few times I heard this song, I didn't like it. I think because it was confusing to me. Like, what does the background instrumentals have to do with the melody they're singing in the chorus? Do you think that's why people describe it as 'jazzy'?

Yeah it's interesting, the more I think about it, the more I think that it includes a lot of similar qualities to jazz, even though I don't think it necessarily sounds like stereotypical jazz to me.
Like the use of the flute to me is just part of the layering to keep the song more interesting. I also have some other thoughts I might talk about in the livestream this weekend if I remember! It's too much to type out 😅

I've actually talked about V a lot on other videos!! Stigma is one of my favorite solo songs and in my Learn Music with BTS video, I spent about half the video talking about him 😊
And we plan on looking at the BU at some point, but I know it will be harder to focus on the music aspects of the songs if we're focused the entire time on trying to see the connections in the storyline, so we're holding off for now
