When I got the 2 inch pipe. Rubbish clips came with it. I switched it out for proper jubilee clips. I also upgraded connections to brass fittings. Twas much easier to figure out. You might talk about flow rates and pipe sizes, next time.
I thought that black ribbed hose was all you could get and I have had problems with it going rigid too. Also the jubilee clips break it if too tight and also rust so I’m glad to hear there’s a better way. Thanks
Hi Mark/all What supplier do you use? So many to choose from. I have used 50mm since watching this video earlier in the year but the corrugated flex one has burst twice within a few weeks (they are replacing it, apparently a bad batch). Good job it was in the pond both times and not the piece that runs from the filter to the top of my cascade outside the pond of about 5m or it would have drained it. I plan on using 50 mm TRUE OD Solvent Weld Pressure Pipe for the back eventually with flex joins until I can get my head around the other fittings I will need to have 100% PVC. It doesn't help having 50mm internal flex pipe and trying to buy 50mm PVC as it's 50mm internal and 56mm outside diameter. Wish I could think of a way to have the 2m or so to the bottom of the pond onto the pump in PVC also but I can't hide it at the moment.
Hi I've got a 2" pipe from my pond to a free flowing 6 gallons waterfall and I need to put non-return vale on could you please tell me the best options ??
That flex pvc is stiff stuff, at Ieast in the US. It has the major problem of memory of being rolled, wanting to curve back. Can it be used to connect a submerged pump, that is dropped into a fish pond, run up out of the pond to connect to standard PVC going to the filter? What is the best way to do this? Been using that ribbed vinyl junk, needing replacement every 2 years as it comes brittle.
I do wonder if that cheap black ribbed hose massively impacts head pressure with water cavitation on the ridges (especially over distance or increased height) compared to a smooth interior pipe?
I find all the sizes that these pipes and fittings come in and need very confusing. Is there an easier way to work out what is needed? Is it personal preference? I look forward to seeing more on this topic, it’s a minefield!

@@chrisartis4284 thats one of the biggest problems, way too many and not enough support with no standardisation I spent 6k on fitting in 2016 trying to find the best for my needs. i still have rolls of pipe and hundreds of fittings that are not up to the job or do not match others of the same size, keep it simple. internal and external measurement then rubber boots craziness
When I started my project I contacted Mark at anyponds.com asking what type of Pump I needed for my needs, so with Marks recommendations I brought all my stock from Waterfeature-shop.com and I'm very happy with the products and the ease in which everything went together. In many of Marks videos he has said 'never blame the pond blame the designer' with this in mind I have had one or two problems and contacted Mark and he has always be very helpful and understanding. I would highly recommended the products Mark supplies
@@ThePondAdvisor your probably talking about a wildlife pond i'm talking a koi pond with solvent weld piping not pvc piping it's difficult to pull a retro bottom drain out or a pump out to clean or service when blocked if it's solvent weld piping so of course you would need to pull it out
@@andrewsmart3268 I see, your talking about a pump in the base of the pond/pool. We don’t recommend have pumps in the pond as a general rule, now I can see what your talking about, use suction hose instead. All our PVC pipe is solvent weld pipe, we have both solid and flexible. What about adding a Union so you can undo the solvent weld pipe line? Then you can remove the solid or the non flexible tubing.
i'm pump fed so have no other option but to have the pump in the pond yes unions are a good idea a few on facebook adviced that can you get unions that are both straight ends rather than male or female
@@andrewsmart3268 all our ponds have skimmers (the mechanical filter) which is where the pump is located. Our waterfall filters (the biological filter) are all pump fed. We don’t recommend bottom drains or pumps in the base off any pond, you might be getting mixed up with fish pools that have a bareliner.
a very informative and interesting video i enjoy all your videos thankyou for all that
Thank you 🙏 for your support
I've been using standard white PVC 2inch on my features. I like seeing the flex PVC.
never going back, all the time the solvent flex is around now, we carry it in 25mm. 32mm, 50mm and 63mm

I've never heard it called a jubilee clip... great advice as always CACOTY!!!
I had never heard worm drive hose clip before coming out to the US, every day a school day, what do you guys call it a hose clamp
Very helpful, thanks
thanks

yes, always a better way
Perfect!
Thanks
Mark.
Can I put a dimmer switch on the plug, to reduce the flow.? It’s still coming out to fast and emptying my small sump too quick.
Anya T that depends on the pump, most variable speed pumps have them built in. I would install a blow off value

Can you tell me more about the pond? Why do you want a non return value. Is it a waterfall filter?

That would be 2 inch flex pvc, it's amazing stiff.
The PVC pipe does not like the cold, run hot water or hot air to make it supple.

Great question, the inside however is smooth so I am guessing it’s the same.

on the cards, coming up its a great topic
Fitted my 4” pipe and completed the floor in concrete only issue the 4” that comes up is slanted what can I do?
You might be able to find a flexible joint that can fit it.
Hi I am looking for 15metres of the 38mm pvc solvent pipe, can only find 50mm + any ideas where I can get it???
Not come across 38mm solvent, 50mm and 32mm but not 38mm (that’s more suction hose)
💯‼️
👍
Problem is there’s not many stockists that do the grey pipe I’ve tried mail order and it’s mainly black can you give us stockists in the uk please

Problem is on my pond it's mostly solvent weld pipe what do you do when it comes to cleaning and pulling it out the pond no flexabilty
We use flexible PVC pipe but we don’t need to pull it out, why would you want to pull it out of the pond
