Impressive electric range for a hybrid. Those prices though, £62k plus?!! Can't stand those touch sensitive controls on the steering wheel either!

Vicky honest on point with excellent logic 💯👏👌

I cant see the diesel hybrid on the configuration site for the uk

I think they have quietly deleted from the UK range but it is still available in Ireland 🇮🇪 which is very strange as it’s neighbouring right hand drive market! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Although there are quite a few on AutoTrader, so maybe there been available to business customers only..?!?

I also reviewed the Mercedes GLC and I feel like it's more interesting than before! Better than what they did with the EQ classes!

The DC fast charging is now included on U.K. spec cars.

  • @anthonystevens8683

Throttling back the charging for UK spec cars does seem odd but then this car could be called odd. With a decent electric range it has to carry the weight of that engine and gearbox all the time but the same can be said about driving once the battery is discharged it has to carry that dead weight of the batteries. A really nice car though, Boot space is a tad over compromised and like many have mentioned there is too much touch control of basic functions but at least this one does it better than many. As usual a great review Vicky. I don't think I'll be making a purchase of one of these anytime soon.

Throttling back the charging is surely better for the batteries long term health?

Compelling about this is the rear weel rotation and some comforts. Otherwise not sure.

I'm pretty impressed with that cold weather performance. I do like the GLC actually. Does it come with a 7 seat option?

  • @andyelliot3428

60-70 miles electric range would cover 90% of daily driving but on a long motorway run, using petrol only, what mpg would this get realistically? It's a heavy car so I'd imagine the mpg on that type of trip would be pretty low.

  • @kpitter4790
    @kpitter4790 11 месяцев назад

Actually the boot is 470 Litres not 400 as quoted! I have a friend who regularly gets 70 miles on pure electric in his and even gets 60+ miles in the winter!!

For PHEVs the new BMW X1 25e and 30e seem like much better options. Bigger boot space (490l), 50 mile electric range and about 20k cheaper.

Lexus NX phev. 545 boot space, 50mile range and almost guaranteed to be more reliable than any Merc or BMW

    Tested one, my biggest downsides:
    1. Feels very cheap inside and out
    2. Fake rear exhausts
    3. Fake vents
    4. Cheap feeling door cards
    5.plain boring centre consol
    6. Cheap plastic on dash
    7. Very very cramped inside
    8. You can tell the dash board was just lifted from the c class, it goes far beyond windscreen level making frontal vision smaller

I think the fact that the boot is so small and so compromised it makes it a miss for me. This body style suddenly becomes pointless. I think it could've been packaged better.

Why does the presenter have to be so dismissive, gloomy, pessimistic and bored by her job. If you hate doing it then give up. I’m not buying one because I like other cars but it is a wonderful car in so many ways that would have seemed impossible ten years ago so for goodness sake cheer up a bit…and try to seem a little more interested and subjective.

Indeed, that's why after a miserly 3 year warranty, whose goner chance it.Mercedes should offer warranties like Korean manufacturers (they will eventually after Kia/Hyundai steal all their sales?).

I dunno, diesels really are the pits in terms of the sound they omit. You have this lovely looking car, but at the turn of a key it sounds like a tractor. I get that might be such a problem with a hybrid variant, but I would still prefer the petrol-hybrid variant when purchasing a 'premium' vehicle.

Vicky is still so out of touch with the real world, the car starts at mid 50’s yet she thinks “most people will step up” to the mid spec car. Obv no cost of living crisis going on in her house.

If you're going to spend 90% of time(quote)in EV mode ,might as well bite the bullet and go all Electric!
70k will buy you a Tesla Y (now even cheaper) and give you quite a few ££££'s saving.
