I'd be honored if some Talking Heads & MGMT fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performance of THIS MUST BE THE PLACE (re-interpreted as a ballad) on my YT channel in tribute to one of the most unique & iconic bands of the late 70s/early 80s era. Raw acoustic with no digital editing. Thanks and peace.
This is such a perfect cover of this song. Of course it's flawed in sound, but it PERFECTLY captures the floaty and carefree nature of This Must be the Place. It's just friends having fun. "Never for money, always for love"
And thats why this is one of my most favorite bands, because they wanted to make music THEY wanted to make, and it is all for fun, they didnt take the path of all the evil record labels trying to get a piece of them, even though they would make a shit ton of money, they still said no and went on their own way, and still made good legit money through the love for music.
Strider How dare you. I wish they wouldn't. It's not their music. They should spend their time and money recording their music, then in concert they should fuck with the crowd at their leisure. Did they get into music to play music, or to make money. Bands who do covers live show their personality off stage some with their cover choices. It should be appreciated.
This is still one of my favorite all time videos, and is how I first heard this song. I’m thinking of it for my mother/groom song. I’m from Baltimore, David Byrne’s hometown, and somehow never heard this great song until I found this version many years ago! So glad have found this song, and to still be able to enjoy this fun version!
+ bradfeige - I remember stumbling across this video a few years back and really loving it , then I later discovered MGMT`s Oracular Spectacular and finally tonight I once again stumbled across this video and did a big WOW because I hadn`t realised that this was MGMT until now. Funny how things work innit ?
That was fucking amazing, how awesome just seeing them out there being young having fun and just living in the moment while playing music. What an awesome ride those guys are on, I've had fun playing bass and doing a lot of different things. But, these guys are having such pure fun it's just flowing on another level, all the more to them and you all ✌️
Can I get an update on what the person who filmed this video is up to with their life? Obviously they are extremely intelligent, cool and have a keen eye for talent. Prob dripping in success/killing it right now.
@Rad Science lol that sucks, what else can you expect from RUclips...I’d just be happy they don’t hit you with a breach of copyright strike. I had a channel where I used to post all my rare vinyl, they hit me with 3 strikes in one day and permanently erased like 3 yrs of work

@Mo0shii letting the days go by...
MGMT needs a movie made about their come up. I find them so fascinating.
as a Connecticut native I am always surprised when I'm reminded this was filmed at Wesleyan lol.
Talking Heads is not an easy band to cover. David Byrne is a genius. I love this version. Much respect
In years we will say the same about mgmt. Ever cover flash delirium?
